I hope for her sake she contacted the police when they tweeted and within 24 hours of the accident. If not and the police can indeed trace her then she's in a heap of trouble. She can't even use the "I didn't know I was in an accident defence", her insurance is going to be fun as well.
"What are the potential penalties for failing to stop and failing to report?
Each offence can result in an instant driving ban, but in normal circumstances, you should expect a means tested fine up to £2,500 and between 5 and 10 penalty points. In extremely serious cases, punishment can include community service, a curfew order or a prison sentence."--

Is it alright to call this one a bint. A stupid bint? No concept that her actions could have ruined a life.
She should get a driving ban and substantial fine. Not sure about the emails contacting her employer that just seems vindictive...Food Chain number = 4

Nobody made her post it all over Twitter bragging about hitting a cyclist, that was entirely her choice. So if as a result of her own stupidity she comes a cropper maybe there is such a thing as karma.0

Hitting a cyclist and leaving the scene is pretty bad...boasting about it in order to (presumably) gain kudos from her friends makes it even worse...deserves more than what she's gonna get (a small fine, if that)
And as a relatively new driver shouldn't she have the highway code fresh in her mind?0 -

Maybe not that small, possible two offences here (assuming injury however small to cyclist) Failing to Stop, and Failing to Report. Both carry £2500 means tested fine, or up to 6 months, plus between 5 and 10 points. Often when both offences occur at the same time then it results in a driving ban. Considering the boasting and therefore the lack of defence of not realising she had hit the cyclist, she may well end up with a driving ban. To get out of this she would have to of reported the accident at the ealiest opportunity (considering the twitter coverage she may well have done that this today but she would have to have a good reason for not going to police earlier) but even then that only absorbes he of failing to report, there is still failing to stop. If there is no damage to bike or rider (not even a small scratch) then technically there is no need to stop or report so there a technicality she could get off on there.--

Surely the best punishment would be removing her license for a year and forcing her to cycle ie no public transport either.Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.
Rule #9 // If you are out riding in bad weather, it means you are a badass. Period.
Rule #12 // The correct number of bikes to own is n+1.
Rule #42 // A bike race shall never be preceded with a swim and/or followed by a run.0 -

Her employers have also been made aware of her situation, the story on ipayroadtax has had several updates since first published.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0 -
I understand that the cycling community feels aggrieved by the actions and attitude of this woman, and quite rightly she should be punished accordingly and within the context of her crime.
However, her life has not become a free for all for some in the cycle community to stalk and attempt to punnish further. Contacting her job - which is unrelated to the incident, unless the vehicle is branded or she is a professional driver - is petty, vindicitive and uncessesary in my opinion.Food Chain number = 4
