Shame for Henao losing time. Still fancy him for a stage win though.0

Interesting as he would be a very useful team rider - essential in TTT, great as a sprint lead out and one of the best at setting a brutal pace.0 -

looking for the positive, he could in a later stage do what happened today & romp away late in a planned move for the stage win after help out Wiggins/UranPain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.0 -

I think his contract was renegotiated after the Tour win. But tbh I suspect it will be Wiggins decision rather than Sky's re how long he ends up staying i.e. when he retires. Let's not forget that at the moment he's their only GT winner, and still their most prolific stage race winner.
And this Giro podium is not yet settled, however strong Nibz and Evans look at the moment (or Uran's ride today)0 -

Although my flat screen is bloody heavy I was just about ready to throw it out the window if that prat says "Where is Wiggins" again, he just says it over and over again, the two of them even had a moment counting riders, sounded like it was broadcast from a home for dementia...
I think that is it for Wiggins now possibly, he seemed to remember how to descend but for hot how to climb, I was hoping he would come back and smash it today but skys plan of tiring out Nibali seems to have backfired spectacularly0 -

Absolutely.
Quick question & slightly tongue in cheek but could they not do this on a few days? That would really get spice things up, just send a strong rider who is down on GC up the road for the win & limit your GC guys losses too. I know a little dream but it would certainly be proper entertainment.Pain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.0 -

Sorry just re-read my post DOH not quite what I meant - can we not suggest that tomorrow they send Henao up the road for the stage win. Then on a later stage another rider from the team goes up the road etc, etcPain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.0 -

Can't see past Nibs though now to be honest. You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.0 -
It is brilliant reading this rubbish when you have nt seen the stage because you were out cycling.
Man, If only the world really did only contain Black and White and a bike rider could only be the best rider ever ever or the devil incarnate/total fail
To sum up, Nibs in on the same Stormer this Tour that Wiggo was on in the summer of 2012. Well ridden Nibali, well ridden Evans, well ridden Uran - That is allWe're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

That's about the sum of it. Nibz has the look this season (T-A, Trentino, here) of Wiggo last year.0 -
I think Ryder might struggle to win the Giro again this year now , I know I'm going out on a limb thereThe UCI are Clowns and Fools0

I felt it was the steepness of today's climbs that did for Wiggins more than anything else. He just doesn't seemed well suited to the efforts required on climbs that are quite a bit steeper than anything you typically find in the TdF. I think he'll do a good TT when the next one comes around but then Nibali has already demonstrated that he has worked them out.0

To be honest Sky may have done themselves a disservice today. Wiggins lost time to the main people that matter even if he took some time out of people who are outside bets. Uran took a small amount out of the people that count which is good but Uran is not a GT winner even in his prime. Henao was a good bet but has had to sacrifice for Wiggins then today if Sky's payroll hadnt ridden for 55km Henao would have had fresher legs and would still be in reasonable contention. I doubt Nibali would have put Astana on the front to bring back Rodriguez and so we would have had it slower until someway up the final climb. Oh well, thank goodness the Giro is not a route like the Tour.Contador is the Greatest0

Cracker of a stage. Loved it.
David Walsh @DavidWalshST 3h
Overall I would say good day for Wiggins, a finish like that taxes him but when he was dropped he rode well to limit losses. Long way to go.
What was that about embedded journalists losing credibility?“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0 -

The result of Sky's move today was to isolate their own leader.

The team and Wiggins expected him to lose time today, according to a journo or two Wiggins spoke to before the stage, according to trusty Twitter. In Walsh's defence as an embedded journo, he seems privy to the team tactics each day - hence some of his tweets.
And colour me surprised...Wiggins gave a pretty relaxed post stage interview

He was behind and now is further behind. That can't be considered a good day. For Walsh to suggest so seems silly.
Here's a question. If he/Sky expected to lose time, why did Uran attack?“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0 -
Spotted this on Facebook and seems the Tour of California has got the POLAR opposite problem at the moment.

WTF? This is the person who won the biggest bike race in world last season together with an unprecedented series of wins in the biggest one week stage races and you are suggesting his team won't renew his contract unless it is in the role of super domestique and lead out man to the team's world class sprinter. You have to be trolling, if not I'm worried about your sanity!0 -

Hoping to wear out whoever Nibz had with him, and forcing him to chase himself and be worn out in turn, presumably?0 -

Didnt you know? Phil Gil's being made to act as swanny for BMC next year as he's failed to emulated his 2011 season0 -
plectrum wrote:The VS ride was impressive but a real one off, the Ryder win was meaningless in the grand scheme of GTS (alot like Wiggins 2012 is fairly meaningless long term) - so they are left with Talansky and Martin... I'm not really sure what Talansky's future is but I can't really see him becoming a GC contendor and so you are left with Martin.

Are people forgetting that the whole point of a GT is that it is about recovery and the ability to be consistent over 3 weeks? 2 minutes isn't really a big margin at all in GT terms. One bad day in the mountains can cost 5 minutes or more (just look at Ryder today, no one would have expected that last week). Obviously Wiggins would have hoped to be much closer if not leading at this stage but there is still a lot of opportunity for Nibs or Cadel to have their bad days. I think people seem to have forgotten it wasn't always the case that a rider took the lead on the first TT or MTF and held it until the end.0

ooh, forget to say felicitaciones to Uran Uran and Betancur...
(though Betancur might be getting a tad hacked off with 2nd place by now )0
