I'm not able to get out in the snow at the moment, but a mate took some good photos:

This is around Mercaston near Derby.

That looks suspiciously like my brother's Cotic Kieran. I was the p3ssy staying at home on the Tacx. Haha.

EKE, I think RJS is right about most schools having Parentmail or similar and the school should notify the parents officially that children will not be allowed to do the course if they are not approriately dressed. Unfortunately as we see all too often whilst some people are too stupid to be allowed to breed, they still do.
I think all of the trainees will have learned that lesson very well indeed. I'll see tomorrow.

    Lesson learned.

Still very cold and if I was in charge I would have tried to rearrange the session for another (warmer) time as, even though they wanted to learn, it was hard to concentrate on road positioning and shoulder checks when all you want to do is get inside and get warm.

I found a little up on the hills along Hadrians Wall. Only seems to be lingering on north faces of hills. Been snowing for two weeks but the best we've had is a cm or two of dusting. At least I haven't had to revert to the Snow Studs.
I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.

It's fairly quiet bit of the brecon beacons, so i'd be surprised if any did. ie away from the touristy bits!

The Galashiels CC Hill TT in the Yarrow valley (near Selkirk) was called off two days ago due to 6ft snowdrifts still on some of the key climbs. Still plenty of snow to melt. I've not cleaned a bike for well over a month because the hosepipe has never thawed yet.

The road was clear apart from snow run-off that had turned to ice, but this is the roadside today.

PS:- The snow was fairly frozen at about 12-18" deep and that was about as far as we could get the wheels into it for balance.

There was a minor avalanche on Winnats yesterday afternoon as well - not as big as that one, but enough to shut the road for a bit.
It has been looking like a classic avalanche risk since at least Thursday. I doubt it is any better today. Yesterday, there were still a fair number of other cornices to fall.

I am bored of the snow now!!

Cycling in today. 19 mph head wind. Snow blowing in my face. Not fun.

Home last night however, was considerably more fun!

So having been riding all of this year on an old MTB I'm on my new bike today, so it's snowing. FFS! It's only just starting to settle, hopefully it won't get a proper hold. Roads will be ok, but the park could be interesting.

Tipping it down here in Raynes Park too. Fed up with all of this now. Roll on a different wind direction and no more snow!

First day on the bike for ages, and I get a strong headwind on the way to work, then snow for the return ! At least it isn't lying. For now.

Don't try cycling on the Tissington trail yet...

As I went past there was about 2-foot of snow along the bit that I could see.

Well we ended up with 3-4" of snow - is this the improvement in the weather the BBC forecast?
