Right lads, Looks like it might just be me, Gizmondo's has offered me a lift, but I may just come straight up to save a little time.

I do hope that Colin is going to get his broom out and sweep the roads before we ride?

Are we riding crap bikes or best or very best?
You're welcome to join Prawny and me in my new wheels (4). My "best" bike is still on order, not expected until May, so it'll have to be the same bike that I rode last year

Thanks Gizmo, apologises fro not replying to your PM.

Thanks for your kind offer, I'm hoping that possibly one or two of my other mates may join me, so rather than mess you around I'll meet you in the Car Park in Macclesfield, mines a black coffee one sweetener...

Looking forward to meet everyone, hopefully Gizmo we'll get to ride a bit before the RideLondon, coffee will be on me when we do :-)
  • Cheers for the kind words velonutter, I was being a little tongue in cheek. Whilst a bit of a porker I am ok with it and no self hater. I was trying to get my excuses in early though as that seems to be the accepted form.

Looking forward to Monday, hope you all take it easy on me.

You have to get your excuses in. It wouldn't be the annual Bikeradar spring fling without the annual excuses...

Honestly I fell on ice yesterday walking to work and I've pulled all the muscles in my right leg and I've got a bruise on my knee, I've not had a bruise for about 12 years. I'm also having shifting issues.

Can't wait for the ride though :D

I went out for my first ride in two weeks today, almost doubling my mileage since Jan. 30 miles. It killed me and I now have a niggling pain to the top of my right calf.

  • Right, 60km spin test spin completed this morning, with cafe stop for added authenticity.
I was favourably impressed with my form, I mean I must have put down that jumbo wedge of hot apple pie in sub 2 minutes. As for the actual bike riding, it was a bit inconclusive, the new steed is going to take a bit of getting used to.
Moral cowardice meant I gave The Wizard a miss, I thought I might as well leave that 'pleasure' for Monday, and turned left to Prestbury. Still plenty of snow on the tops.
Off to find my big book of excuses for why I am slow and off the back.

Bike fettling done, club run tomorrow to give it a shakedown, after which it'll get washed all ready for THE big event.

The weather's looking great, it might even get to the dizzy highs of 5 degrees! It must be summer
  • There where sightings of a big yellow thing in the sky today over north Cheshire. It came and went, but was definitely there. I would have got photographic evidence of this rare meteorological phenomenon but I was too busy eating apple pie and blowing up big style. Seriously this bike fit is crippling me. I ache everywhere, especially in the wallet.

  • Fair enough, sad to say you missed the best of the day. At least you had a good reason, unlike drinking tea watching the Tokyo 7's.
Rule 5? Good advice add well taken, but COME ON, what happened to getting ones excuses in?

Sensible wheels now on the Basso with sensible tyres, so all systems go.

Nocheckmate is all primed to share a lift with me so there will be 2 riders there at least :-)

I can't make this. Still haven't got my crash replacement helmet from Giro and currently got a cold. Meant to be racing next Saturday so want to get over my cold ASAP. Hope the weather is good for you guys.

I've got a spare. To be honest this ride is going to be EASY. 56 flat miles. Even I'm not daunted!

There may be a change to the start of the route to keep us off the road between Alderley and Knutsford. We could always add a bit of Swiss hill action too if people want, as an option...
