Gotta say, I'm tempted to go the whole hog and get the forks I've just purchased changed back to 150. :7)
Collected frame on Saturday and it is mint. Not a scratch on it, decals are mint, has heli tape on in parts and the chainstay protector (inner tube attached to itself, not frame) will save me a job and looks better than most I've seen. Came with crown race and Hope Pick n Mix headset. Plus, he gave some advice and a few bits to make it fully enclosed cabling. Top guy (nice workshop/garage), lucky lucky me!!Family, Friends, Fantastic trails - what else is there

Any advice on cable routing? Going full gear cable outer easy enough or is it filing down carbon?Family, Friends, Fantastic trails - what else is there

The cable guides are actually aluminium but can be carefully drilled/filed to run full length outers0

Thanks, that sounds like a good, if not tricky, option. I've seen tie wraps but didn't look too good. I'll have to weigh it up. To be fair I have exposed cable running on the down tube of the current frame without a problem really. But it is slicker I think, though not sure if I'm confident to drill or file!!Family, Friends, Fantastic trails - what else is there

Your build is great, but your feedback on your forks at 150mm is making me think - should I take the spacer out and take the fork from 130 to 150 when I start the frame build? These have come to me at 130 but am thinking that starting big and spacing down if I find it too much travel, would best. Rockshox revelation Rlt dual airs.
Is 130mm a bit half hearted for this frame?Family, Friends, Fantastic trails - what else is there

I fancy buying this frame but wouldn't mind seeing it first!

You will see from Brant's post the yellow one is down as "green"; I guess this explains its green tinge.
Hopefully a better pic..
Hi Blueadvocate - did you get this frame built up yet?
Got any pics and how you finding it if you have?

Hi
my build's taking longer than I had hoped; I'll start a thread at some point.
Problem is I'm waiting on some finishing kit i.e. bars and stem; to come in stock but that could be nearly Xmas.
Deity Dirty 30/fantom stem (preferred)
Nukeproof Warhead
Easton Havoc (have these on my Trek)
RaceFace Atlas (785mm bars  )
So I have a frame with a headset in (twas a bitch to fit); wheels attached with fork held in place with an old stem (bit of a rubbish effort up to now).
Been short on time due to work as well but hopefully get the BB, crankset and chain sorted at weekend, time permitting, I need to ride and have footy to watch you see.
Also waiting on shadow+ rear mech to come into stock at CRC.
Once I have the bars and stem I'll probably fit an old seatpost and pedals until what I want is available.
With respect to your comments above I've gone with 150 revs; I will try that first.Trek Remedy 7

Ha ha I'm in a similar boat. Time is non existent at the moment and its only going to get worse in December. And like you, I'm also waiting to get my hand on a few key bits - cos they will be under the Christmas tree next week and will remain till the 25th - although ive ordered a bionicon chainguide and a few gold bits as a gift to me - cos I'm worth it!!!!
- so my build won't get under way until the 28th at least!! Apparently the pick n mix headset my frame came with is easy to fit (but we'll see) so may attemp this myself.
Ive had the forks and frame for nearly a week now and I'm itching to get started! In the mean time, I've got on with a little extra frame protection using some matte tape from paragon tapes.
Yep, thats it, I've made the decision to start off with 150mm of travel on the Revs and work from there.Family, Friends, Fantastic trails - what else is there

That's a nice build. Seems we'll end up with a few matte versions on this thread.
Are you running full gear cable outers?
I can see a few patches for cable rub and the tube/lezyne seat stay protection - have you protected the frame anywhere else?
Any sign of chainsuck?

Cheers Paul,
I protected the frame around the headtube with a bit of helitape on the obvious rub spots, but I had real trouble getting tape to stick over the angles of the downtube, hence the innertube wrap.
Chainsuck......I have had real problems with this and dont have a good solution. I'm running a triple and the clearance isn't great and I get chainsuck every ride resulting in nasty gouges into the carbon. Thankfully I know that the chainstays are over-engineered so these gouges should not compromise the frame integrity.
I've tried helitape, innertube and cableties and clean my chain after every ride, but still have problems. My advice ( and others will hopefully have alternatives) would be simply not to run a triple.
Hope that helps'93 Hardrock

Luckily for me, the chap I got my frame from spent time and money on frame protection, and I've just removed a couple of patches (they werent matte look) and replaced it/added some matte look tape from paragon tapes (works a treat and whilst you can see it, it blends nicely). He used a tube for the chainstay but has done it in such a way that it is bonded to itself and not the stay, and then covered parts of it with masking tape or similar. The downtube solution is interesting too. From what I can see there is one solid piece of protection running down most of it and covered with tape. It doesn't stand out or detract from the frame but it should add to what is already a heavily built part of the frame. I'll take a pick or two.
I'll be running a triple and the chap who just put up the El Diablo C456 is running triple too I think with no obvious chain suck markings - someone must have a solution.
I got a bionicon v2 chain guide (chap on this thread has one too) for a 3rd of the price yesterday - we'll see if it helps once the bikes complete.

Another possible question - Bar width?
I'd ordered a set of bars on offer, ended up returning them cos they were 600mm and it was just too thin to be usable I felt. The other options I have seems to be either 660mm or 750mm, what is best?0 -

How do you mean thin? do you mean narrow?
It's dependent on where you ride and how much room you like at the controls/body positioning. I had a discussion about this with my brother on Saturday mornings ride. There are 3 trails which are tight and twisty tree sections and we decided that under 650mm would be too narrow and slow but over 750 and you would be pinging off trees left right and centre. We both have around 680 currently and my new bars from On One are 685mm.
I would say 750 would be ok. You can always cut them down. Try On One or Superstar for there risers - might have money off, the are good, and you get colour choices.

Aye, I mean narrow, 600mm just felt too narrow in my hands, so I sent it back.
Issue of a 750mm is I can't cut it down as it's a carbon bar I'm getting, cutting it is ill advised. So I have a choice of 660 or 750. Have to decide when the time comes I suppose, plenty bits to buy yet.0 -
Ah carbon, cool. Well I'd suggest it'd be best to go wider then - 750 isn't super wide, over 800 is. I doubt you'll notice 660mm over the 600 you sent back so if it was me I'd go 750. Is this a super deal with only 3 size options then?
What stem have you chosen? And are the bars compatible 31.6mm these days.
What else have you planned to get for the build??Family, Friends, Fantastic trails - what else is there
