Pretty pleased with it, although the position is a lot lower than I'd thought. Hence the need for spacers.

Looks like you could have gone a size up? Very nice, by the way.

    Rob

I'm in between sizes really. Size up would have been too long a top tube compared to my road bike.
Probably shouldn't buy frames off geo charts!

Just came today. I'll have a shakedown ride tomorrow and call in a Cyclestore for a pannier rack and panniers. Going to be used for communting and duff weather.

Very impressed by the paint quality, very deep and rich. It feels really smooth on my initial raz round the block!

Looking at this myself for some time. Is that the 'special edition' spec?

It's build up from one of the 'special edition' winter /audax specials. Chose Athena with Khamsin wheels. Immediately swapped the seatpost out for a 3T carbon one and put Conti GP4000S 24mm tyres on.

Got a tortec lightweight rack from Cyclestore yesterday too.

You might want to change those for something more puncture resistent like gatorskins

Lifeless and a b!tch to get on and off. I do have a pair. Hate them. Puncture resistance still pretty good on GP4000s.

Even though they are not touted as such, the GP4000s are pretty good winter tyres. Puncture resistant and extremely good grip in the wet. I'd be very happy to use them on a winter bike.

Here's my very dirty daily commuter/winter bike. Notice the strategically placed insulation tape over the velcro of that horrible specialized seat bag. I put it there to protect my bib tights. I must find a better one some day.

I can't believe what I've been missing with panniers! I used to hate having a big saddle bag and rucksack for commuting. I don't even notice the pannier is there :D

  • I'd just added the wheels and had given it a clean up.

It's quite dirty now. And currently sitting on top of the barbeque in the garage in case we get flooded tonight.

    The Canyon is upstairs!

With the rims the wrong way round. ;)

(My OCP tendencies mean that they should read correct on the drive side...)

They would if the owner had aligned the schwalbe logo with the H plus Son and took a photo valve down as one should with V shaped rims....

It is clockwise, Like the wheel spins... If on top it reads left to right, if bottom it reads the wrong way... If you do it the other way round, it would read right to left when on top...
Stickers on box rims can only be seen at the bottom, but in V rims can be seen all the way round... So one way is as good as the other.
Excellight can only be built this way, if I remember correctly... Which I might not right now...

Should fit fine. I've got SKS P35s on mine. Even when I had a Ribble with non-eyeleted Alpina forks I could fit road racers. What's the problem?

Tyre rub, the front brake pushing the guard downwards.

Campag Skeleton style brakes? The dual pivots are a slightly odd shape. With a bit (OK, a lot) of pissing about you can get them rub free but I switched to Tektro brakes and things are much better.

And I couldn't imagine success with tyres any bigger than 23mm.

2009 skeletons, 23mm Contis. Maybe I just need to exercise more patience! :D

Hello.....new to the forum & new to riding road bikes, have been a very keen mountain biker for around 20 years &
I thought I'd give it a go to help build up my fitness levels after quite a bad climbing fall !!! and I loved it.

Was given the Boardman at the beining of the year, just to make sure it wasn't a fad...after many spring & summer miles the wife let me buy a 2013 Specialized Tarmac Sport. After only two Saturday mornings out and a few times on the rollers one Monday afternoon a few weeks ago we had our garage broken into and it was stolen......luck it was insured.

The only things taken was my Tarmac and a chainsaw !!!!! The wife's Specialized, my son's Giant XTC Jnr, my little girl's Hotrock 20, my Scott Scale 30 and the Boradman all still hung on the wall, now was that lucky.
