A man who used to post here (when it was the old forum)stayed in Tyler's apartment in Girona and TH's parents stayed at his folks house.
So anyone from old forum is qualified.Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0 -

Ah, that'll explain why the usual suspects are kicking off on twitter.0 -
Jens Voigt @thejensie
And stop yelling bad words at me, did anybody see me doing that, did i call anybody bad names?! Feel free to articulate your opinion...Jens Voigt @thejensie
But there is still some respect to be paid to the person you talk to. At least thats what my parents told me.
See Jens, you wanna be dealing with internet forum people.
At least they're moderated .
Just ask JV or the UCI.0 -
Does Tugboat get a mention anywhere by the way!?0

In the book? Yes, several times.
For me, when you Tugboat was dying and Hamilton was pissing out his own dead blood, it just makes you realise how utterly skanky the whole thing is.Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0 -
Old Tugboat was always the good guy in all of this.0

That's right Iain. Duncan Harper, or RoadrashDunc was one of the first members if the C+ forum I recall seeing on Pro Race on the old forum in summer 2004..about when you joined too I think. He put in quite a bit of effort to Tyler's charity work on multiple sclerosis. Say hello from me to Duncan0 -

what are the chances the gendarmerie might want to have a chat with Phillipe? Was doping illegal in France by summer 1999?? l0

I'd be more interested in the Team Sky involvement with Motoman then the Tyler / DopeStrong Era...

Yates and Armstrong go back to the Motorola days. Yates and old Moto go back years - both petrolheads. As per Hamilton's book Yates introduced old Moto to Armstrong, who later hired him as a gardener, and then subsequently turned him into USPS's drug mule. As far as anyone knows, old Moto was just that - a drugs mule and only working for Armstrong.
To make any kind of assumption that this must link Sky to being a doping team - as the usual suspects on Twatters are no doubt doing - is really a stretch too far.
However, given the stuff that Brailsford and Wiggins had to deal with on doping insinuations in the run up to and including the Tour, and with Hamilton saying what he's saying about Moto, Brailsford really does need to have words with Yates about the company he keeps - and gets photographed with. That includes the Sky team car outside Moto's shop...0 -
What's interesting is that Motoman sells some stunning Radioshack Treks in his shop... hope he's got receipts for them.0

Not read the book yet, got 3 waiting to be read already... but took a listen to the BBC Hardtalk program. Gotta say i was disappointed. Hamilton just had no answers to any of the questions. I would've thought through everything he's been through that he'd have a more confident argument/answers to the questions posed.0

So I got it yesterday afternoon. Found a book token.
Uo to chapter 5. Better than Roche's book.
Quite like seeing what occupied riders' minds re form and preparation (in the broadest term).
I slightly wish the doping was put into the wider preparation context. Diet, training, kit etc. He alludes to it but it's always back to doping. Totally understandable but a shame.
That's what I like best. Seeing candidly what they did. Whether it was new training focussing on HcT Watts per kilo etc etc. Whatever.0 -
There's a section later on Rick where he talks about shortcuts and which of training, doping or diet you could drop, as Ferrari is obsessed with weight. He agrees with Ferrari, that being light is the most effective performance enhancement (assuming that all pros train relatively hard anyway).0

More generally that initial Ferrari bit is interesting.
It's almost like the quest for doping actually brought in a lot of science into a pretty conservative old skool settup.
The whole sky/wiggins marginal gains bollocks was, according to Tyler anyway, the entire philosophy underpinning the whole doping stuff anyway in the mid to late '90s. Obvious I know, but it's nice to see it so explicitly spelled out by someone who did it.0 -
that being light is the most effective performance enhancement
If I was 3 stone 2 and trained 40 hours a week I still wouldn't be able to keep up 'cos I'm total shyte on the bike..............
Mind you I used to 'race' (in the loosest sense) in the 80's at 9 1/2 stone and managed to keep up in most of the chippers I used to ride in, so perhaps there's something this Ferrari mularky .................now where's my 7,000 euros............0 -

I thought it was funny when he mentions Vino being a client of Fuentes for a while. Remember when Puerto happened Vino's name was on a card in Fuentes wallet, but somehow Vino managed to get away with it.
Also, you have to think Basso's collapse in the 05 Giro was down to dead blood.Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0 -

Agreed. It's truly horrible just thinking about stuff like that.
Two things strike me thinking of that collapse:
1. Was Fuentes really amateur?
2. How much involvement did Riis have in the whole thing. A lot of his guys were on the same programme. He must have been an active participant. It's a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired.0
