    Quick question -- I need a ruling.

I have a bet with someone at work. Would you people say that LA cried during part 2 with Oprah or not?

Serious beers on this, I said he wouldn't, she said (no one can resist Oprah's power) that he would.

Were there tears when he discussed his kids? I can't tell.

    Simples.

He cried and you get to take a girl out! it's what's called a win-win.

Is he not saying that without the environment at Garmin (no needles etc) Pate wouldn't have found a World Tour level team he was comfortable enough in to develop into a performer at that level? And that without the experiences of Vaughters (who gave him that chance), or with them banned for life etc. that environment wouldn't exist?

Without doubt it's a perfectly valid point Vaughters is making.

But it's the way he makes his points...

RE: Kimmage article - I love that bit at the end!

He is rather direct yes... but then Twitter doesnt lend itself to reasoned discussion very well

Good point. Personally, it's not how direct he is, it's more about how it's always about him.

BBC Radio 5 Live podcast from the other night - Jeremy Whittle, Simon Brotherton + others - dunno if it's been posted if anyone interested in listening to it. cheers.
Thanks for that, a great listen. What worries me is that the majority of people around the world will buy and believe the whole Oprah thing and not hear the truth of it as spoken in that hour long special.

Kimmage tough as ever. Lawyers made sure he did not
accept liability vis a vis the people he bullied and defamed, he is protecting other people in that hospital room, he replied to the sca video segment on ferrari's good ethics with "most of my answers would be different today", he admits to cortisone use pre 1994 and confirms he was on the cocktail of drugs betsy alleges at the time she alleges, he is trying to save himself from bankruptcy by lies about 2009-10. It is quite a decent confession but Tygart needs to offer a much reduced ban if we are to see Lance answer to Kimmage's satisfaction

The thing that bothers me the most about Kimmage is how he makes it all about the evil rider (whether it is Armstrong, Wiggins or any other) yet in his book he made it clear doping was really the fault of the teams.

Go quietly away Lance and history might soften its stance, contest grand theft and the world will turn its idle curiosity into wrath.

He's the only grand thief who tries himself on Oprah then asks the global jury to be left off his lifetime ban sentence. Trial by media.

Go snort Lance, we're over you.
'Performance analysis and Froome not being clean was a media driven story. I haven’t heard one guy in the peloton say a negative thing about Froome, and I haven’t heard a single person in the peloton suggest Froome isn’t clean.' TSP

RR, what would you rather do. Go round an oval track faster than your competitors on a given day and maybe get some endorsements for a while which took you years of single focused training. Or a well rounded character, developed education, great and sustainable career. I know which I'd rather have without having to think twice.

Shame you had to settle for neither though hey?

    sorry, couldn't resist

But one question: why has Martin Freeman had to resort to this to make a living?

Am I the only one who would quite like Hamilton to just fook off now?

Movie deal done. Looks like he'll make a few quid out of this too.

How would he make any money out of it? Premise is that it would be based on Juliet M's future book, not on his fictional bios.

Surely a "Bio-Pic" based on his racing career would net him some cash, no ?

Nope. Just cos a film or prog's based on the life of someone doesnt mean they get spondoolies, unless they're hired in some capacity e.g. as consultant, or the screenplay's based on a book authored (ghosted or otherwise) by that person.

For example dramas/programmes/film on the Krays - all made before either of the Krays died - no money for them to spend on snout in the nick.

what I don't get is how you sell an option on a book that isn't even out yet ! Not even sure is she has finished it yet as it's not due until the summer

    Correct.

So why would Armstrong get 1 red penny out of a film?

It's fairly standard. A film company 'options' the book for a relatively small price which means they have the exclusive opportunity to take up full rights (for more money) for a set period. Some companies have blanket deals. Loads of books get optioned, few actually get made into a film.
