I was planning on starting with a few crits around the South East and see where it takes me. Maybe a RR towards the end of the summer
Not really interested in TT'ing but will probably give it a go at some point so main focus is Cat 4 crits0 -

Quick question:
Sorry if this has been discussed before, just couldn't go through all 146 pages.
I have Elite Qubo Fluid trainer, and been training with TR for a while. Today I pumped tyre a bit to 110psi and power readings gone quite off higher. Around 65w.
I know TR suggests to keep tyre pressure consistent, however obviously there will be times I can't get exact same pressure.
So basically I want to use my average speed as a benchmark from now on and wondering if I can get detailed power curve for the trainer mentioned above. I assume riding 25km/h roughly equals to 200watts, but not sure if my weight does matter.
Many thanks!0 -

Hmmm.... Set up trainer road this evening and it's not picking up my garmin speed/cadence sensor. Set up is with a suunto usb stick and done multiple work outs with same set up and no issues.
Have put fresh battery into speed/cadence sensor but still showing bad signal/dropping out. Turns off wifi in house and ensured no other devices around to interfere.
This has never been an issue before with exact same set up so thoughts appreciated.0 -
Have taken the usb stick out and back in again?
Putting fresh battery into the GSC can be issue. It is supposed to take a few minutes down time.. however, once it took 24 hours with no battery to get working again.. then it failed completely... then I bought a Bontrager unit.0 -

Thanks for thoughts.
Taken USB out and in.
Will take battery out overnight to give extended down time and see if this helps.
When computer right next to sensor then signal good so it is transmitting and receiving.
Using a mac and set up just in front of bars when riding so it's not too far to expect it to transmit and not been issue for last 2 months.0 -
Have you got your HRM belt on ? Once my stick didnt pick up my powermeter until I noticed I'd not got my HRM on.
Then it worked.
Same error has happened to others too.0 -
Thanks Cougie
HRM malfunctioned just before I started using TR and not got round to replacing it yet.0 -

Sorry about that. Check out this article for reasons this can happen and see if anything jumps out at you: http://support.trainerroad.com/hc/en-us/articles/201802644-Device-Dropouts If not, shoot an email to Support@TrainerRoad.com.

I'm using an Elite Qubo Power Fluid also. My power readings also jumped up about 60W on my last ride (no change in tyre pressure). I think they might have updated the power profile for the turbo, if you look under devices it now lists an "Elite Qubo Power Fluid (Obselete)" and an "Elite Qubo Power Fluid". It used to list a "Elite Qubo Power Fluid (New Model)" so something has changed. I've emailed TrainerRoad support to ask if anything has changed, I'll update if I get an answer.0 -
Hi, I had the same issue. TrainerRoad got a new power curve for the Qubo power fluid from Elite and it automatically updated. See the replay i got from customer support. I switched to the "Obsolete" power curve and all is back to normal.
Sorry about this. Elite created a new curve that was supposed to be more accurate than the old one. We added it and renamed the old one to Elite Qubo Power Fluid (obsolete), but it seems that it may have automatically switched you to the new one without notice. That was not our intention and we're really sorry about this! We want to develop a better way to update curves and notify users in the future.0 -

Thanks for that, makes sense now. I'll use the obsolete one until my next planned 20 minute test, then it will be a nice jump in FTP!0 -
Thanks for responses to my gsc10 issues. Been stuck away from home at work for the last few days so will try out the suggestions when back.0

So resting the sensor after taking old battery out and new one in seems to have fixed things. Old battery still functional but maybe its just working pretty poorly after sitting outside in the cold.
Thanks to all who offered advice.0 -
@ Trevor
Has anything else changed? some users - me included are suddenly finding their workouts much harder. For example, I can no longer maintain 2 minutes at my indicated FTP, with no changes to the bike / setup.
No other setting have changed in the app - I'm using a Minoura B60 on level 3. Although I had a chest infection for 6 weeks November to December, I'm well now. Today I failed an 8 minutes test which indicated a 33% drop in FTP - this can't be right?0 -
Eek - not used my TR since last week. I had a bug.
I use a powermeter - so my levels will still be the same as ever. Presumably the FTP level is the same - so maybe some change to the Virtual power calculation ?
I'll check mine tonight.0 -
I have not had my PM for a few days as it was getting repaired so reverted back to Virtual Power in the interim. I have to say it was so far out it was unreal (negatively) to the point where I had to set the device a setting higher in TrainerRoad than I was actually using on the turbo and it still seemed overly tough.
Look forward to getting back to power proper :-)0 -
Anyone on here had experience of the Lemond Revolution trainer? Currently on Cycleops Fluid 2 that I have had for several years.
May be in the market for a new/second hand turbo and this gets very good reviews for realistic road feel. It is meant to be loud though and I would be using this indoors (but not in the same room as others). Tend to do my turboing early before the rest of the house is up. Is the Lemond a bad idea then due to noise?
Like the idea of direct drive and not having to mess around with consistent set up to allow virtual power on trainer road. Love the idea of the Kickr but it is out of my price bracket. How do people set up their Lemond to use with TR? Currently using a GSC10 with cycleops but not sure if its possible to adapt this to use with Lemond?
Thought here was a good place to start rather than opening new thread.0 -

Had seen that thanks. It does seem pretty loud but is it really that much worse than a number of others?
My hearing is pretty dreadful so don't see it bothering me0 -
Hi all. After reading up on TrainerRoad (in particular this thread), I decided to sign up. Received my Garmin ANT+ miniUSB stick in the mail on Tuesday. Set up was easy - Cadence/Speed sensor was detected immediately. I have a JetBlack Z1 Fluid trainer, therefore I'm using "Virtual Power". Did the 8min FTP test this morning:
http://www.trainerroad.com/career/samapo
My first impression of TrainerRoad is very positive. Very easy to use, the display is well laid out. Really looking forward to using this tool to improve my outdoor riding.
I've been riding (consistently) since March 2013. I ride purely for fitness & the enjoyment of riding (well, enjoyment is a subjective term!). I tend to do the bulk of my riding up in the hills. I've never used a power meter, so riding with power in mind is a new concept for me.0 -
For those you using the Elite Qubo Power Fluid you may be interested in a comparison between the Obsolete "Elite Qubo Power Fluid" profile and the new "Elite Qubo Power Fluid" profile which caused issues last week.
TrainerRoad calculated my FTP on my last 8 minute test using the new profile to show me the difference.
FTP with Obsolete profile 180
FTP with New profile 232
The new profile does seem to be more accurate and a nice wee jump in FTP too.0 -

I've had a similar experience, I was off the bike for 4 weeks over Christmas (caused primarily by a faulty turbo), I'm also just about over a cold that has been hanging around for the last couple of weeks; just did a 20-minute test this morning and FTP has dropped by about a third... this is using the Cycleops Fluid 2. The pre-Christmas turbo had fluid leaking from the drum and it was swapped for a new one, but I doubt that would cause such a large variation in FTP. Strange.0 -
My apologies if this has been asked before...
I'm new to turbo training at home, so am using my MTB on an Elite Mag Elastogel to see if I am going to use it enough. I have fitted a Conti SportContact I (not the newer textured surface II) and have this at about 60psi (could be 55psi). The turbo has a digital power output display and this reads approx 8-10% higher than Trainer Road (connected to Wahoo speed cadence and Garmin HR).
My questions are:
Does the tyre pressure have much effect when using these big tyres?
The Conti website says this tyre can be used at a maximum of 87psi. Would TR give its most accurate reading using the tyre at max pressure?
I am using TR whilst also watching some YT slipstreamer videos. It's got me hooked so far.Boardman Elite SLR 9.2S

The only guidance using virtual power is to keep the setup 100% the same each and every time. As to the truth of what is displaying, only you will know. I didnt think your turbo had a built in power meter?
I know I gave in... if you want to use power then sadly and expensively, get a proper power meter , hub, crank, pedal system.0 -
The unit has a virtual power display. It isn't a power meter and will be a mapped equivalent based on the known properties of the resistance level selected. I appreciate that these things are not completely accurate but are relative. I would just like to get the TR power predictions close to those predicted by Elite. I am guessing but would have thought that both sets of curves (Elite and TR) would have been recorded with power meters, so my figures should be within 10%, if my set up is correct.
Is my set up correct at 55-60psi, or is 87psi the correct pressure to use?Boardman Elite SLR 9.2S

I'd just go by the Trainer Road readout if I were you then. ..the power curve will have been supplied by Elite and used by Trainer Road. If you get too many variables you are not going to get the best out of your training with this system.
Again just keep things consistent throughout or your workout data and hard work will end up next to useless to interpret and possibly give a false impression. No one can say A is right or B is better... all I can suggest is that if your power readouts are in the 300s and your heart rate is ambling along, you are probably not doing 300 watts and simlarly if your power readout is showing 130 and your heart rate is top end.. something somewhere is not right.0 -

What circumference is your tire, and what setting do you have in TR? Increase this value and you get higher power readings in TR.0
