Somebody must have flagged a ride (not me) and I have ended up with an extra KOM over the weekend.. only got it by 1 second, so it's likely to go sooner rather than later.
I remember doing it pushing it hard in the 52/12 and then checking that I was 10 mph slower than the then best time.

Steady that, does that B924 Climb actually rise 700ft or is it a false segment :?:

Starts off with a gradient of over 300% ... must need a good ratio to get up that ... what can you get 1:300 ??! ;)

Looking at the segment on Bikehike it gains 127' in 0.8 miles. Max grad 16% for 0.1miles (500 feet!) but most under 5%

Yeah, something funny there. If you look at the profile it only gains 150ft. I've found the GPS is a bit suspect sometimes if you're under trees or in this case the Forth Bridge.

I've been uploading the files from Training Road to Strava now too, just to get credit for the hours in the saddle. Just upload the .tcx file that you can download from the workout page on TR.
All the above is just advice .. you can do whatever the f*ck you wana do!

No 'bagging' on my first 50+ mile ride today... was determined to pace myself well and had to speed up after an average of 13mph for the 1st half hour  so I decided that a HR target of 150 would be more reasonable than 140!

I'm quite surprised how easy the distance was once you pace yourself well... my 'standard' ride usually consists of trying to kill myself over 30-40 miles and blowing up after 20 miles because energy products are too expensive.

but its looking good for my first 90 mile sportive in Sept (which I've only just decided to do - hence the longer ride).. and I should be able to plod round at 15-16mph without having had to do any real training. (I might try and fit a 75miler in as training before then though.)

In the days before expensive energy products were available, nobody ever rode hard for that very reason. It's fair to say that they've revolutionised cycling for those who can afford them.

It will be a breeze if you can do 60 miles. May be add some interval training or tempo rides every week.
  • Went out tonight aiming for four KOM's, got 2nd place on three of them and had no energy left for the last one. I should be able to get at least three of the four though I reckon.

I thought that this ride looks like a c0ck, n balls, bit droopy and a bit enlarged at the end but not unheard of in Wigan, so I'm told! Showed the map to my wife, she said it doesn't look like one though, obviously has high standards....

  • I didn't create the segment, just topped it. :-)

At 98kgs I'm not really built for climbing or TTs.
