Link's dodgy.. looks like you created a segment0

hmmm...not sure what has gone on there, just cut and paste from the segment page.“Faster, Faster, until the thrill of speed overcomes the fear of death.” Hunter S Thompson0

Here is my best achievement on Strava. KOM on a Cat 2 climb! Granted it isn't exactly in London so it hasn't been climbed too often, but they all count!

It does look a bloody tough climb but first out of four reminds me of footy teams like Stoke sitting on top of the premiership after the first game of the season (no disrespect to Stoke, obviously). Why not get 10 fat mates to do the same climb??0 -
Being Stoke is a compliment to me!
It was 1st of 3 until last Sunday! The club I ride with tends to go over an adjacent climb, but I prefer this one because it keeps ranping up until near the top where it is 10%. Around here the number of people who use Strava is pretty low, the same names are near the top of segment list and very few segments have more than 20 people having ridden them.0 -
Nothing like hail to encourage a 2nd place at the end of my ride today

Probably could have gone for the KOM but was only thinking about getting home quicker!0 -
Just become KOM on my private segment from home... Was feeling quite chuffed till I realised that I wasn't KOM on my private segment from home... Must speak to the missus0

Found a pathetic segment on my Saturday ride. Blind single track bend on a twisting downward piece of road. Segment simply titled "Do I risk it?".
http://app.strava.com/segments/2536296
In other news just got pipped on one up the road which might be incorporated into my next training ride.0 -
Someone must be doing some bagging in this ridiculous wind?0
-
Is it etiquette to set a KOM on a placid Sunday club run ?

:shock:0 -
Last week I lost this cr4p QOM (which I got by default at the end of a 200km ride)
http://app.strava.com/segments/3107989
and this week I gained this cr4p QOM (by default of course)
http://app.strava.com/segments/3252059
I had no idea it was a segment - it's a cycle path to a school for goodness sake! Has the world gone mad?0 -
Hi folks,
Can anyone explain this to me?
I have 2 segments near me on the same loop.
This -
http://app.strava.com/segments/3387793
and this
http://app.strava.com/segments/3571265
When I'm short for time, like today when my daughter is at nursery, I do a wee local Strava blast like this -
http://app.strava.com/activities/57082724
Now....I've previously held both KOMs but for some reason, the last couple of times I've ridden the loop, one of the segments hasn't registered at all.
You can see from my ride that I come in before the start and do a complete circuit so I don't know why this is happening. A club mate has had it as well. I still follow the same line etc from when I had the KOM.
It's annoying because the day I reclaimed one of them, I was flying so would've had the other.
Confused. :?
Thanks,
Richie0 -
Bagged a KOM today - http://app.strava.com/activities/57145847#1052354389
Its a long one though(25 miles) and it looks like I'm the only one to put any effort in!0 -
I cemented a 2nd place on a climb in France that I like to use to guauge my fitness, the other week. I knocked half a minute off my previous best and was gutted to see someone has ridden it faster than I will ever manage.
http://app.strava.com/activities/55340635#1008024403
But looking at his previous rides, he puts in some serious mileage.
Seems to be only the Brits that ride that hill and 'Strava' it. :roll:0 -

Yep, the French are really not that into Strava.
So it can be very flattering to come to France and pick up a few KOM's. But be warned, the standard here is pretty high, and if they were to all take up Strava (and it's happening slowly), then it ain't gonna be so easy!0 -

Have only just discovered why people rave about Strava...
Created an account and uploaded all my rides (since March) from Cyclemeter.
Got two QOMs!! Though they're ones that no other women have ridden. :?0 -

That makes me feel so much better!0 -
Hi all you Strava fanatics, how does it all work ? I assume you need an app, then wot ?0

You create a free account at www.strava.com and then upload your rides to that site. When you ride a section of road that has been created as a 'segment' your time is recorded. This allows you to compare your time to others riding the same segment, or more importantly to many, you can see how you compare to your previous rides.
You can also create new segments.
Create an account and look at the features. It's all good fun.0 -
You can use the Strava app but you don't have to. I use Cyclemeter because I prefer it, and I can e-mail the data from my ride straight from the Cyclemeter app to the Strava upload address.0

Wooohooohooooo!! QOM on this trail ride (gravelly path, hence speed):
http://app.strava.com/segments/2717127
Can get even faster if I don't meet a group of pedestrians halfway along it again.0 -

QOMs by default are the best sort0 -
KOM on a HC climb...OK, it was on my cross bike, but it was a bloody big climb:

weird one here... got this KOM but was riding with a guy who was ahead of me and it looks like the original poster isnt on the list either. so i'm one of one! closer inspection shows that it is a phone app jobby and strays from the road by quite some distance. so may have this for ever and ever...

I have a Strava nemesis. I've never met them but whenever I get a KOM this ****** waits for a windy day and robs me.
I'm sure that's not how he sees it, but it's how it feels to me. I have 3 KOMS, sorry 2 (*%##!) and this guy has 3 pages worth.
Funny thing is over similar distances and the same terrain I average 1.5 mph faster than him. I'm happy with that and am not going to play that game (much!)0 -

Wait for an even windIER day!0 -

I'm 47 3/4. I don't take Strava seriously, but just use it to monitor my own fitness (yeah right  )
My pal's next door neighbour is 18 and started cycling about the time I switched to the road.
He is nearly 30 years younger, much fitter and now much faster than me. This was always going to happen.
I have no KOM's, but get giddy when I scrape into the top 10
But now he has taken to following all my rides, and smashing any decent time I get within 2 days, making extraordinary detours to fit the sections in ??? Obviously this doesn't bother me in the slightest.
I will not MTFU, but instead run him over at the earliest opportunity.0
