    It's official.

After today's performance, it's difficult to justify a different view.

Looking on the positive, as it's never great to be down on anyone, perhaps Andy was foxing today or he's working to hit peak form in 6 weeks from now.

After today he might not even make the Tour roster.

He will. He's Radioschlecks best hope for the Tour.

I've said it before, Radioshack should just go for stage wins. Why pick a team to support Andy if today's performance is a true reflection of his current form. We all know peak form doesn't go from getting dropped in June to winning the Tour in July unless you're doping. And he still can't TT. If they go for stage wins they have a lot of potential with Cancellara in the TTs and Horner and Schleck taking out some mtn stages. Better than a 10th place GC result for Andy.

That team was built/funded around the Schleks with Bruyneel brought in as he was the dominant DS in producing winners. Riis was the other one but they could hardly go back. So a Schlek not being the TdF is v.unlikely. Anyway, a good day for Evans,Wiggins,Riis.

    Frank will be there too.

The dauphine will be interesting.... reckon we're going to get some Schleck: the wilderness years, ala Boonen?

Outside of Amstel Gold, LBL and the TdF do they ever really try?

Isn't another way of looking at this....outside of Amstel, LBL and Le Tour, what other major races should they be trying to win?

The cobbled classics are out of the question, and anything after le Tour looks difficult/pointless.

So maybe the Giro, but no one has won both le Tour and Giro for ages! Besides (focussing on Andy here), it's not as if Andy just turns up and "tries" in the tour, he has consistently put in extremely good rides, he won the white jersey three years in a row. (I know, tis probably a novelty jersey, but it's still fairly impressive!)

For the record, this year, Andy should have gone for the Giro, then seen what happened on a tour route, which really doesn't suit either Schleck.

Crashes aside there'll be at least one Schleck on the podium in Paris.

Exactly. Bradley Wiggins has won more in three months than Frank has won in his entire career.

That Wiggins is more adept than Frank Schleck at winning one week stage races with a crucial time trial shouldn't be a big surprise to anyone.

Dont understand why Andy would want to make a tit of himself by publically showing how unfit he is. Why didnt he go hide on a mountain top for another 3 weeks and get fit?

Although the fact that Wiggins has only started winning them in the past year would suggest that a positive attitude and winning mentality also play a part in success.

It's official...Andy continues to suck. The camera doesn't lie and there was definitely a few grimaces of pain on his face.

Last year he was having similar problems in the Tour of Switzerland. I guess he is just riding himself into form. He hasn't raced since LBL, so just give the guy a chance...

You must be in a bad mood telling me to get a life. It's just cycling bud. Just give the guy a chance? He hasn't raced because he doesn't want to! He hasn't openly stated that he wants and needs to race more but that Bruyneel and management think otherwise. You don't show up to the Dauphine with crap form and then somehow show up as a Tour GC contender 4 weeks later unless you're doping. Clearly we've seen the hardwork Wiggins and Evans have done and it's showing and those two will ultimately fight it out for the Tour win.

Yeah, it was a little harsh. Maybe. I deleted it and re wrote it again when I read it. He hasn't raced because that is how he prepares and peaks for the Tour. Try digging out last years threads and they will have very similar comments. As for the doping allegation, I am not qualified enough to judge.

Well it's clear that what he has done in the past hasn't really worked out 100%. And for the record, Andy doesn't consider himself the true Tour winner for Contador's beef suspension. That said, if this is like all the years past then we know kind of what to expect for the Tour and with the TTs even a worse GC result? We'll see.

So you don't rate the Schleck's then?

I think you'd be foolish not to rate them after the last couple of TdF efforts. I don't know WTF Andy is thinking ATM though...

It's a bit of an assumption that he just couldn't be bothered yesterday isn't it - or has he come out in the press and said as much now ? OK so maybe it is a lack of motivation - but didn' t we also give Rujano flack only for it to turn out to be illness.

it's a hard life if you don't weaken.

Right now I don't. I don't think Andy is helping his case but I have other guys in mind I think might go better in the Tour with the amount of time trialing.

well Andy still finished before Vino today so not a bad effort.

Maybe he's just riding into form, although he's meant to be have been training in the Alps the past few weeks.

Andy has talent in climbing. The issue (among other things, some suspicious, is that he lacks any motivation or care for fans and sponsors).

He could have won that Giro that year. I had the impression that he didnt care.
    -Gallopin.
He has absolutely everything to win the Tour. Apart from maybe really having the will to.
