Local (wet) ride, I needed a stick to dig the mud out before I could get going again!

FOD today, sun was out and the trails were fun :) also had a spin down 'launch pad' the new DH/4 wheeler trail.

Crikey that was fun! :D roll in at the top and let her go!
Very easy to get some air, even right at the very top (hence the name I suppose!)! Almost too easy, I nearly lost it on the second table top, came in WAY too fast on the first and it tried to spit me out of the second, very sketchy landing.

Mucho fun trail, go as fast or slow as you like (but quicker is better  )!

I rode FOD yesterday as well. I was on my DH bike but got dragged around to ride Launch Pad. That table after the berms is waaayyyy too short. Even without pedalling or boosting off the lip I still landed to flat.
The DH tracks were riding great, except the foot deep lake at the top of Ski Run.

That was an awesome bit of falling off. That's the kind of falling off I do. A little bit of nothing then whoop, off down the banking!
All the gear, no idea and loving the smell of jealousy in the morning.

not enough momentum to get past a root or something. Had me in tears laughing at it though. was an effort to get the bike back up.

That crash is amazing! Recently I mostly seem to fall off trying to clear tech climbing sections which looks equally stupid

Rode Blade at Glyncorrwg for the first time today. Really good trail, lots of variety and fun, although there were a few sections I wished I'd had a full suss on! The last descent was a bit more technical than anything I've ridden in ages and I paid the price of being a bit cautious. At least I know my knee pads work though!

Off Piste at Cannock today, the group couldn't make up their mind whether to do on or off piste, so I fitted. Rocket Ron's when it was meant to be in piste and couldn't be bothered to change, but they really weren't upto the mud and I had 4 comedy falls when the front just washed away off camber. Anything that went through the snow came back almost spotless, the rest was covered in shite!

First proper ride since breaking my elbow. Only a local 15km or so on the Scandal and hard work; all my fitness (which wasn't a lot, admittedly) had disappeared and I've put 4kg on. Good to get out though.

I can't straighten my left arm fully and my tricep is incredibly weak, so I won't be doing anything too taxing for a few months. I'll be wearing elbow pads on pretty much all rides for the foreseeable future too.

That last section of Blade is by far the best section at Afan/Glyncorrwg. I think it's also the most technical, more than the Whites Level black section.
Some bits look a bit hairy but as long as you remember the trail builders want it to be fun and not kill you it's great fun.
I would quite like to try it on a hardtail.

Frosty 30 miles watching the sun come up over the North Wessex Downs. Beauts! Cheers 2014
  • Out on the Bird Zero today around Deepcut and Swinley trying out a GoPro. Was a bit late getting out so the frozen ground had thawed out into a sloppy mess unfortunately.

Uploaded a couple of unedited clips to pinkbike which are below using a bar mount so quite a bit of movement and vibration showing up. Have a helmet mount on the way and may well look at a chest mount to improve things.

Deepcut - very short loop and missed out one of the better sections as I didn't realise the camera was in photo mode.

    Hi All

Having a fantastic time in the hols been out riding 6-7days straight with my 10 year old, been very wet, boggy and at times very very windy, to be honest my old legs are feeling it, so we came back today after quite a long ride and the first thing my son said to me is "where are we going tomorrow dad " really glad he is so keen just hope I can keep up !!

It's a great trail on an ht, the only bit that was a real nuscience is that bit of very rocky, cross-hillside, singletrack before the last descent when I couldn't keep a nice cadence and so went a bit slow - by that time my knee was knackered though so the pain of the bumps was what was stopping me rather than the trail itself. Next time I'll be a bit more gung-ho on the last descent, I was rolling almost all the drops because of my knee but still enjoyed it.

Did a couple of laps of blue scar on nye to test my knee and I have to say I've changed my opinion, while it's only a blue, and I used to be annoyed at how man made and easy it was, it's a cracking trail to blast round.
  • I did 16 miles in the New Forest in warm sunshine. Was a bit wet which made it slippery on my Crossmark tyres.
  • First half decent ride since before christmas to the top of the local mountain (12% for ~3miles) so I could bed the XTs in. Nearly had me OTB! Wasn't expecting them to be that good, especially with the avid rotors. Little bit of speedway down the deer trail too, that's with a beaver on the back. Unexpectantly eventfull.

  • Just got back from Llandegla, man it was cold! Started snowing about four miles in and 45 mins with the car heaters on my feet hasn't thawed them out yet lol

Aren't they basically trying to ban cyclists in the new forest? I saw an article in a local paper from that area which made it appear that even Gary Glitter would be more welcome.
  • Did 50 k round central East Lothian.

And bloody lovely it was too. Stunning weather and a fancy new Rapha jacket to try out.
Trek,,,, too cool for school ,, apparently
  • Quick 13 miler around Delamere today...quite hard after Degla yesterday!
  • An easy 30 k locally again. Rounded off by a broken front spoke and the fright of me life. Went with some bang

rode cardinham woods in bodmin today.

ii's bloody brilliant. it's only short and there's only 1 trail, but if you're passing (as I was) I'd thoroughly recommend it and do 2 laps :)

Wanted to go for a good spin today but when I got up it was sheet black ice every where, so I thought I would wait for it to melt, it had all gone by around 1pm so off I went, the only problem was a 1000' higher it had snowed on top of the ice, made for a interesting ride, mind the snow on top of the ice had quite a bit of grip.

Hour on a static bike.......was having a day off skis, should have gone and hired a fat bike and ridden in the woods. Could have been fun as it started snowing. :?

Stainburn, probably not the best day to try somewhere new as I couldn't pick out a line or any feature on the trail.

Just 15km near me but the elbow post break is now feeling better. Might go and have a crack at Lee Quarry next weekend.
