PBW slog followed by a load of unplanned on road slog around Saddleworth.

Not my most successful MTB route ever. The wind was terrifying.

Cragg Quarry with GrahamK off here. Lee was closed as there was a Brownbacks race on, so we sneaked to Cragg then did the last downhill at Lee as the race didn't use that bit. Nice ride, savage sunburn.

A loop from Hebden Bridge. 1,000 ft of climbing in the first 3 miles nearly killed me it was hot and my Hayfever was doing my head in. The next 1,200 feet of climbing hurt like hell but the drop down into Hebden made up for it though my pads have died.

Sunday... a 4 person tour of the South Downs taking in a bit of QE, the SDW to Harting and then home via Kingley Vale. It was VERY hot out there, necessitating a beer and ice-cream stop in Buriton, icre-cream at Harting and a splendid cream tea in the Compton tea rooms. Did I mention it was ridiculously hot?

Was a good morning, had to go round Tandle Hill with a vest on in the afternoon to try and get rid of my TwatTan

Today had a post work blast around Clayton Vale, nice little set up, good for killing some time or a quick blast.

A short (but steep!) climb over Coombe Hill:

190m of climbing, according to the Wikipedia entry, and still warm at half past eight in the evening

Llandegla black this morning, with more turning joy than I had on Thursday, then after that we headed over to the Ponderosa for a look at the 3 peaks behind the slate quarry, great downhill fun.

Went to Cannock and rode the Monkey Trail for the first time. Those rock gardens were a bit tricky. I had to get off and take a look at the first few before I rode down them. Was good to ride something that really challenged me.

Not so much of a big deal as you guys, but my 8 year old daughter cracked out a 16k today, on roads and cycle paths, demonstrated all the good road sense and riding positions we have talked about.

Unfortunately we had to deal with a couple of people driving less than considerately, (not a dig at car drivers at all) but she dealt with everything really well and only required 1 (ice cream based) feed stop!!

Am so chuffed that she seems to be developing into a,confident, responsible ,switched on rider :D

Apologies if I sound like a gushing Father but I'm really pleased for her.

She has decided that she needs a pair of cycling shorts and baggies to wear over the top, can anybody suggest wear I could get her some.

Once again, apologies for the sickly sweet nature of this post but my bosoms are swelling with pride.

Usual route up the Gisliflue, a hill just next to my village 35km west of Zurich, about 1200ft climb with some fun descents, although 38 deg, hottest day this year, I drank plenty, was in the shade mostly, but still 2hrs after finishing I was feeling sick and headaches, might not try that again!
