I had planned on visiting a trail centre this weekend and after finding out that Sherwood Pines is closer to me than Gisburn I thought I'd give it a go. Good lord I've never seen a trail centre so busy! The routes were okay and nice and flowy in places. I'm not sure about the red being graded as a red though!

  • Gisburn today for me. Did a fast lap of the red followed by sessioning the hope line. Was hoping for a PB on the red but due to the early start the boardwalk sections were sheet ice. Couldn't even walk on them never mind ride them. Was only 2mins out so I think I would of beaten my best time  Managed to get round in 1hr 21 so not to bad. Then went onto the hope line and went up and down that 10 times so its fair to say I'm bloody knackerd now !

Kinlochleven today and yesterday, for the Dudes of Hazard Enduro. Absolutely ridiculous... Got so frozen in the snow on sunday that I still can't feel 2 of my fingertips  Had a disaster of a race (crashes and mechanicals) but still, fantastic weekend. Probably the hardest thing I've done on a bike

  • Took my nephew around Rheilffordd at Glyncorrwg / Afan. He's been ill for the last couple of weeks so we figured it was probably safest just to try an easy, non technical ride.

Still nearly killed him. Poor guy. =/

Just back from a frosty ride around Gisburn. My bike is caked in ice and is currently thawing, jockey wheels froze up a couple of times but it was a good ride.

Just did a quick 15km or so on the local bridleways and singletrack. It was hard work as the ice hadn't melted. I got called a lunatic by some walkers for not slowing down for about a 50m section of ice. If I'd have seen it I would have slowed down, which shows that if you disconnect your brain every now and then it makes things easier. I went out in shorts, which motivates you on the climbs.

Just around Tandle Hill, Slattocks and Chadderton Park today. There's some nice little bits of trail you can string together; not too challenging though.

    Cannock Fri Sat & Sun

Fri I got out pretty early & it was mostly dry and crispy but even by early afternoon the temperatures had risen slightly & Cannock's evil black greasy diarrhea-like mud was making an appearance.

Sat was just sh!t it rained overnight (WTF) and there was some kind of run/ride/kayak thing on so I stayed mostly over the North side

Sun seemed bitterly cold I CBA with clattery suspension plastic tyres and wooden brakes so I retired early in favour of tea & biscuits.

    My stomping ground.
From Chaddy park up the Heights and heartbreak hill, over the bridge and back down Cinderhill, up Royton Autos through to Oozewood, along the bottom of Tandle Hills and round the back of Stakehill and up Thornham lane, through loop of Tandle and either back home or over to High Crompton.

Its a nice little spin out if nowt else, used to do it as a time trial a couple of year back.

I do similar, but drop into the back of Chaddy Park via the canal towpath.

I used live in Chadderton and don't know many people who call it Heartbreak Hill, other than me. We used to do PE up there when I was at school. If you go in the bottom entrance of Tandle Hill and turn left there is a nice little bit through the trees there, I link over to Thornham Old Road there and then drop down back onto the canal via Slattocks. 2 laps of that is a nice blast on a Sunday morning (although the ice meant just the one lap yesterday).

I'm on the Mamba Green Canyon and always say hello to other MTBers; give us a shout if you see me.

Sounds like you went to North Chadd at had Wallace beasting you up and down that hill
I sometimes come back down the canal to the linear path at the back of Firwood, or go down to the Boat and come up Broadway to click and extra couple of mile.

I'm on a Silver Spec Rockhopper and normally in a black Honda jacket.
