  • Cannock chase Follow the Dog today, decided I wanted to break 50 mins before I set of and I managed it doing 48:50 :D also the first ride in my new Nukeproof knee pads, awesomely comfy even though they're made for downhill.

A wee bimble round glentress red today, lovely... Still having some trouble shaking down the new bike so GT a better option than innerleithen offpiste stuff which is where I took it for its first ever ride

Impulse ride at glentress today. Blimmin freezing! Nice though. I love riding at this time of year, except when it's raining anyway.

Amazing ride today. New loop with a mate who's a guide/instructor. There is no better way to improve than trying to keep up with someone that's better than you...especially when you're riding a HT and he's on a proper AM bike set up for these mountains.

    Great route.

Rode a bit of Gisburn last Sunday, mainly the half mile of singletrack we've been building for the 18 months after we finally linked it up.
It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.

    I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
    Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result

Mostly around Newburn park (Tyneside) in circles trying to get the hang of having my feet clipped into eggbeaters! Started to get some strange looks from people, so I rode up to close house golf course very slowly while practicing unclipping.

All went well until I needed to unclip in a hurry , then for some reason your mind goes blank and you panic while falling sideways.

Not as nice as some peoples riding today though!

    Regards

  • Local loop today with Squareflops... Was a tad on the muddy side.

All the trains to Cannock from Birmingham were cancelled and only found out thanks to a conductor who told me to jump back on the 1st train as no more are coming! Ended up going to Sutton Park...but of a disappointment as it was a nice day. I'll try again tomorrow! :x

Just been out for 30k or so round Herts, it's muddy as fuck, actually makes me miss Cannock a bit but it was good fun so I shouldn't complain. Especially when I got to Broxbourne and managed to go an hour without seeing anybody else, you don't often get that at Cannock
  • Up in the lake district, namely seathwaite, Dunnerdale and Walna Scar. Set off before sunrise and got into the hills to witness the sunrise. Simply stunning.

  • Hit the trails around Woburn today, early doors, with my brother. Bloody brilliant and considering the weather we've had here in the last week, the trails held up very well. Also found some new bits - always a pleasant suprise.

Lee and Cragg Quarries. Grim weather and only saw one other biker, but really good fun. Cragg back to Lee on the link path with about 15m visibility was fun.

I rode a static bike and watched the snow fall through the window. Static bike was sad but snow made me glad.

Just back from innerleithen- night downhilling, as warmup for a night race on saturday. It's quite an awful idea, this night-downhill lark

Lee and Cragg again, second time this week. Much better conditions and a few more people about, although incredibly windy. I think my favourite bit is the last couple of hundred metres of Cragg, to the point where I did the first section of the figure 8 twice - I'm not one for getting too airborne as a rule, but it just feels really natural there and the gap between tyres and ground was much bigger than I'd normally be comfortable with.

I always do that last bit at Cragg a few times, gets me set up nicely for the run back down to Lee.

No riding for me today but did a night ride around Rivington last night. I'm sure it was trying to snow.

Night downhill race at innerleithen today. Obviously a terrible idea, but absolutely brilliant.

I can't abide pushing up, but it was made more fun when part of the path froze solid and became almost impossible to walk up without falling on your arris

Just had a go at the Highland Wildcat trails in Golspie. I live about 30 minutes away, but today was the first time I had a chance to go there.

    It was awesome!!!!

The climbing was rather difficult, but the downhill was amazing. It was quite scary at times (I was riding a hardtail with a dodgy rear axle) but good fun!

I have no idea what's going on here.
