    Been plugging away slowly over the last few weeks, and trying to avoid chocolate, but an improvement of the quality of my savoury diet, combined with ramping cycling up to circa 7 hours (Doubled from the previous 3\3.5 I was managing) a week, seems to mean I can lose weight, despite eating chocolate - which is quite a result.
    2.9kg dropped since last time I posted on here, so just need to try and keep the momentum up - ride at the weekend saw me drop 4 seconds of a shortish climb segment in strava, which popped me up to 25th overall, and also managed a 20th place in another one, so am seeing the combined benefits of weight loss and power increase.
    About 1.4kg less than I was this time last year.

    Next FTP due to be carried out, famous last words, on Friday week, carried out three fifteen minute rounds of fairly brutal over unders early doors this morning, which I was pretty chuffed with.

    The almost totality of poop donors (yes, there is such a thing) are vegan.

    It makes sense to eat iron if you are low and certainly blood and liver are by far the best sources (mussels are good too),,, although of course you want to investigate why you are low in iron in the first place.

    I have lied about being a constant 67kg's, even though I lied in ignorance. Weighed myself this evening for the first time in I don't know how long and hey presto.

    No Ugo, not for one minute, I enjoy and thrive on the details - for me life is ALL about the details, that's what enables me to enjoy it that much more :D

    I'm not suggesting my way is the right way, or your way is the wrong way, but simply that we are all different, and find individual ways to enjoy our time on this planet, and long may that continue.

    You have likely guessed, but I am also a huge fan of power meters, love a stat or 3 do I ;-)


    Back on topic -> weighed myself this am, and somehow down to 64.0!
    Not quite sure how that happened, although the long hard turbo yesterday must be a contributory factor I am sure - calories burned and all that.

    Slightly concerned that I've dipped below my target weight but I know I still have some belly fat to lose. The obvious conclusion being that I've lost muscle too. Part of the ageing process I'm sure. Legs look pretty good for a chap of my age, but my upper body is definitely looking skinnier. I'd like to slow / stop / reverse it if I can. Anyone got any upper body workout routines for somebody who hates swimming, gyms, and weights in particular?

    I wouldn't worry too much about it, perhaps try some more toning exercises, or just hammer the bike to build those muscles up - you'll be flying up hills!

    Mmmh... it's mostly water that you lose, which gets replenished fairly quickly... good idea about the black pudding though... when I ate it regularly I used to order some from the Bury Company which was fat free (and even gluten free, by chance) but surprisingly nice. Most of the stuff in supermarkets is packed with lard.
    Not a lot of choice in the supermarket. I opted for Morrsions' own as they were out of Bury Company brand.

    I experimented with a black pudding, beetroot and mozzarella sandwich, which I would highly recommend. The cheese was low fat, but it didn't seem to make a difference taste-wise.

    I seem to be stuck at 70.5kg No real disaster, but I had hoped to be lighter going into the Dragon Ride this weekend.

    I don't find it that attractive, but apparently this is not the case anyway as I'm still rocking 64kg's this morning, and am very much hydrated :D
    I wonder if my metabolism needs a good kicking, and perhaps 7 hours of exercise a week is the key.

    I do find if I carry out a hard 90 minute workout before work, have a protein shake thing immediately afterwards, and then a shed load of water and black coffee during the morning to rehydrate, I rarely want any food before lunch.
    Perhaps during those 4 hours or so post workout, my body is still burning fat?

    5ft 10, half Mauritian, and am small boned, so still carrying some excess, though around the tum.
    Legs and body/torso are pretty lean though.

    I was down to 63ish last autumn, and that seemed optimum for me.
    Would be happy to put on weight if it was muscle based!

    I thikn I could wedge myself into Castelli small when I was a fair bit heavier, but now it's a breeze.
    Can also fit into 'some' xs garments from Rapha, La Passione, Endura and Giordana.

    Useful for sale stuff for sure.

    A modest 300g off this week, despite being lighter midweek.

    FTP this coming Friday, so an easy ride today, tomorrow morning and Wednesday morning, so not sure if that will have any effect on my weight, much less calories burnt than previous 3 weeks - we will see.

    Nearly 1.5kg lighter than I was this time last year, so definitely ahead of the game, so that's something.
    If I can keep on track, no reason why I can't hit my target in good time for the hill climb in the autumn.

    Admittedly I do have a scone and additionally some sea salt and toffee chocolate queued up for tonight, and also after a beer with a curry for dinner as well......

    Continuing in a downwards direction - despite me eating a fair amount of not that good things, choc ices, chocolate and cookies etc, but not in excess overly, but not being as strict as I was last year.

    Wondering if the cutting out of bread is partially responsible, and also, without intending too, my alcohol intake has drastically reduced - if i have anything it tends to be a couple of 0.5% Erdingers or a rather nice LA cider I have found at Sainsbury's - need to try the Westons one that Tesco sell too.

    If I can go that route, and lose\maintain weight whilst still indulging in some of the sweet things I like, then perhaps that is the better balance for me, and maybe I won't see the big weight gain at the end of the year - I'll report back in Jan!

    Ghost of a chance of being down to my target weight by my birthday in some 5 weeks, appreciate it get more difficult the more you lose of course -my real target is Velo south at the end of September anyway - also starting back at the Velodrome next week, so that will likely replace one of my TR sessions.

    Back on the wagon without much real effort, inspired by Tashwife concentrating on what she's eating. I've started recording my intake which has given me a better focus. Have cut out the evening snacks whilst washing up and not missing them at all. Also allowing Fridays off as it's when we socialise around Tashboy's cricket practice. Had put back on so have had a fairly rapid 3 kg loss and should go through my initial target fairly swiftly if I keep up with it.

    Good progress these past couple of weeks - have maintained the no bread rule, almost 100% of the time.
    Still eating a choc ice every other day :oops:

    Main meals are predominantly salad based, lunches are the same, but with half a tin of tuna, and I'm also bringing new potatoes on board for lunch today, should help with the filling\carb aspect too.

    I'm debating trying to go lower, but will see how I go - purely in the interests of trying to ascend hills faster really.

    Just be wary of being so hell-bent on losing weight through a heavy Calorie deficit that it starts to negatively affect your power to weight ratio.

    I'm not watching what I eat anywhere near as closely this year, so I'm ~78Kg, ~5kg than my lightest last summer. I also began to train by power just after Xmas. But despite the extra weight, I'm smashing my times up cat3/4 hills compared to last summer, now being able to hold an average ~300W up them on a good day.

    There is no doubt a good middle ground to having a Calorie deficit without it affecting your legs, I should really try and eat less peanut butter and jam sandwiches, the tricky bit is finding a snack moderation that works to keep us improving our overall fitness.

    Good going, though. I'm still yo-yoing around the 71kg mark.
    Is there any benefit in giving up bread , but eating more potatoes?
