Good man - was just going to start a similar thread but thought I might be on my own. Ordered the Hardened Edition for some unknown reason. Waiting for the courier to show up...

You don't by blops for the single player...
Having bought the last two, I'm tired of the same old stuff.
Just bought Fallout: New Vegas for £10. Not really an RPG guy, but slowly getting into them, (as long as it's a) not D&D stuff and b)FPS...) That'll keep me going for a while.0 -
I'm sticking with BF3 for the moment.... on the PS3. 360? pfftt0

Can people who play games on the 360 play online with people who play on the PS3?
Noob question I know. Warcraft kinda gal myself0 -
Should be in the letter box when I get home tonight. Need to master the maps before all the 10 year olds memorise them and shoot the shite out of me as per usual.0

Alas, not. Would be lovely, but very unlikely to happen.FCN 3 / 40 -

Back when I was a little'un I was a pure PC Gamer.
Still remember getting excited about the Allied Assault beach landing. Had my own little clan on MOH and the original (PC) CoD as well.
Alas, after half-life 2 I didn't have enough time or resources to spend another £2,500 on a new PC Gaming machine.
360 is a compromise.
Does stop me wasting my life away on Civ and Total War.0 -

Heehee fair play. I've just upgraded my laptop to a rather silly one in order to get a framerate far, far, far higher than the human eye can see.
I personally find console games a bit 'childish', but maybe that's just my taste in games. I love the social aspect of WoW etc, which just doesn't seem to exist in the same way on console games.0 -
I use to play an unhealthy amount of DAOC then an insane amount of time in Eve Online.
Now I much prefer abit of console mashing as it's far less time consuming. I would like to get into another MMO but just cant stomach WoW :P0 -

I only play COD for the single player - my Xbox-playing time is too precious to spend it being shown up by the aforementioned 10 year olds. It was bad enough signing up to Strava and discovering that I'm NOT the loss to GB cycling that I always assumed I was - the ego needs a bit of TLC after that revelation.
But, I don't like paying much for the privilege, so I shall be waiting a year or two before getting stuck into this one.0 -

Definitely less time-consuming! I met the current chap I'm seeing through WoW. That consumes a lot of time.
Rift is available very cheaply at the minute... And Champions Online is kinda fun if rather undersubscribed (wheee I'm a SUPERHERO), and I think it's free right now. WoW's free 'til lvl20............. /evilcackle
@mudcow Agreed! I assumed the response would be 'yeah of course they can mutter mutter stupid girls mutter mutter'0 -

Even highbrow PC Games make it onto console nowadays.
I was naturally anti-consoles for ages.
I'm still nowhere near as good on the consoles as I am on PCs.
But games like fallout, red dead, bioshock etc - they're good proper highbrow games (ish.. anyway), and treat the gamer like an adult - and they're on consoles.
PC Gamers never got to see Red Dead, which, quite frankly, was the most enjoyable game I ever played.0 -
Still playing BF3. And now this is out. And Skyrim is out on Friday.
I'm trying to work out when I can fit it all in.

Loved that game. Acting was a bit dodgy to start with, but it got better. Everything else - amazing.FCN 3 / 40 -
Heh heh, always amusing to find the inner gamers on here - not that I didn't know LiT was a humongous wowaphile
Would do BF3 if origin wasn't involved. Getting back into borderlands for some reason and as ever the odd waft into TF2.Le Cannon [98 Cannondale M400] [FCN: 8]

Me neither. I have no hope for the youth of today, closeted indoors, curtains closed, frantically exercising only their hands and their eyes...0 -

Pretty good practice for the average 9-5.
What you old folk don't get is that, in the same way your lives get busier, so do young people. Plan for a little cycling, plan for a little gaming - esp when the weather's rubbish.
It's all good.
The only impression old people give about their childhood was that it was cold, running water was not always available, and they spent a lot of time being bored, looking for discarded porn mags and wondering if it was worth smoking the remains of half a discarded fag to look cool.
Edit: as an aside, if the 'youth' are playing an 18 rated game, I'd blame the parents, not the 'youth'....0 -
My household only has a very old PS2 which I haven't played on for the last 10 years because the kids kinda got in the way and used up all my free time.
Said boys are now brilliant on it an are keen to have a new console to allow them to play the newer games. They thought they wanted a Nintendo WII for Xmas but they are slowly coming round to the idea that what they really want is a PS3.....  :twisted:Black Specialised Sirrus Sport, red Nightvision jacket, orange Hump backpack FCN - 7

Old folk? Compared to you maybe, but I think you'll find I'm only a couple of years older than the average gamer. I just don't find them - what used to be called computer games - anything more than mildly diverting. I much prefer getting outdoors, even if the weather is rubbish.1985 Mercian King of Mercia - work in progress (Hah! Who am I kidding?)
