Still in shorts, mitts and nothing under my helmet - long sleeved top and a gilet though this morning, was just right.0
-
Still in shorts here too, past few days have been a wee bit chilly thoughKeeping it classy since '830

Progressed to full tights yesterday, combined with the winter boots this morning and Windstopper gloves. Base layer, LS jersey and gilet on top. Was a bit warm, but wouldn't have wanted to wear less!0
-
Wore soft shell the other week when it went a bit cold and overheated.
Still in shorts, occasional overshoes and long sleeved lycra if there's a cold breeze.
Yesterday I was in short sleeves and shorts I was rather warm, it's not winter yet!0 -
It's winter today!..... 5AM start long-sleeve base layer, windstopper soft-shell, windstopper bib 3/4.
Just looked out of the office window here Bristol. It will be the same garb on the way back.
I may even consider bib longs tomorrow.
What ever you do, make sure you protect your knees with at least 3/4 s!!
It's just fool hardy posturing otherwise.0 -
Oh and my commute is just over 12 miles each way. So half decent commute.0

It's warmer in Bristol than it is here on a summer's morning! Winter? Pfft!
The low was about 11C - that's not winter.
Why all this knee protection? I can't stand 3/4sROAD < Scott Foil HMX Di2, Volagi Liscio Di2, Jamis Renegade Elite Di2, Cube Reaction Race > ROUGH0 -

Pourquoi?
All the downsides (rucking behind your knee and pulling at the front) without much benefit. Never ever wear themROAD < Scott Foil HMX Di2, Volagi Liscio Di2, Jamis Renegade Elite Di2, Cube Reaction Race > ROUGH0 -
knees get cold, joints suffer...

Never had a problem TBH. My feet get cold before my knees and that's where full tights help. I kinda can't see why you'd wear 3/4 instead of full - overheated calves? Hot feet?ROAD < Scott Foil HMX Di2, Volagi Liscio Di2, Jamis Renegade Elite Di2, Cube Reaction Race > ROUGH0 -
Because cold knees are pretty unpleasant, whilst one doesn't really feel the cold on your calves?
How do tights help cold feet?0 -

I guess because your blood has to travel down your legs to get to your feet. Not only is it cooled (minimally perhaps) but the blood vessels constrict too.
I've found warm legs are the key to warm feet (for me at least) in winterROAD < Scott Foil HMX Di2, Volagi Liscio Di2, Jamis Renegade Elite Di2, Cube Reaction Race > ROUGH0 -
Fair enough, was a genuine question!0

This morning at the lights a guy I only usually see when I'm running a bit late pulled up and said, "Still in shorts then". I told him I should have worn a sleeved top because it was a little nippy.
Might get some knee warmers or 3/4s and see how long I can stick it out.I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.0 -
i went a different route today, a bit more rural. There was mist over the fields an it was bleeding freezing. cold legs if i go that way again im wearing tightsKeeping it classy since '830
-
Bloody boiling last night - definitely didn't need the base layer! Could have got away with 3/4s too!0
-
Still shorts and short sleeve top for me (with super roubaix arm and knee warmers and a windproof gilet)0

Went for full bibtights today as it was a bit chillier than of late first thing. Fine for the first 3 miles, but a very sweaty boy by the time I got to work.1985 Mercian King of Mercia - work in progress (Hah! Who am I kidding?)

First time in full length thermal bib tights since April for me today. It was quite cold (5C), but I suspect I'll be a bit sweaty on the ride home!
Also swapped my lenses from tinted 'sunnies' to weird orange lenses that make it seem brighter and sunnier than it is. Winter is here now0
