Well fettle my shifters! I actually caught a green light crossing Vauxhall Bridge Road this morning! I created a new Strava segment (Chelsea Bridge to Lambeth Bridge) in celebration.
A question, how does one find out which SCRers were on a particular route at the same time as you. Does one need to "Upgrade to Premium"?0 -

I only rode that segment by mistake on way back from Hog Hill once. Have no recollection of it, so maybe its a potentially faster stretch than my KOM made it appear. Still, the power the guy was putting down is pretty staggering - a whole new level of chapeau!0 -

2% incline for 0.6 miles. That's like 3 Balham Hills in a row   :shock:0 -
Slow conditions up Box the other day but in a small group of 4 one of our men led us to the top in a decent time. I was at the back, amazing how many watts I needed to stay with it. For me to go that sort of time solo would need 500watts for 5 mins which I think for the foreseeable, is beyond me.Blog on my first and now second season of proper riding/racing - www.firstseasonracing.com0

So annoying. Rode like a demon this morning. Made myself sick. Almost certainly claimed at least dozen KOMs*. Garmin lost all data for the entire ride. Bah!
*I sadly have no evidence to support this FACT0 -

Buried myself on an offorad lap of RP this morning only for Strava to show that I rode through Hounslow. WTF?0

^erk. bloody frustrating. i backup my laps with a stopwatch now... strava is consistently out by double-figure seconds.FCN 10 - Crosstrail0

Having just switched from blackberry to iphone I logged my commute on strava this morning.
Apparently I touched 49.4 mph (note MPH not KPH). I suspect strava is not entirely accurate, given that
a) I was on the Brompton and
b) I didn't soil myself.
Anyway seems like a fun app and cheaper than a cycle computer.Bianchi Infinito CV

Yeah I guess so, I can see that temptation. Now I know where the segmnets are there will be an urge to push it.
I did reasonably well on one segment that coincides with my commute as I was drafting a lycra clad roadie on the Brompton, until we both had to slam on the anchors for a U-turning Taxi.
I think they should have segment times split by SCR bike category.Bianchi Infinito CV

You'll soon notice those quiet bits when no-one was about, where you took a little breather - no longer exist.
Strava is always watching you....0 -
Strava knows when you are sleeping, it knows when your awake!
You better watch out, You better not cry, Better not pout, I'm telling you why: Strava is coming to town. He's making a segment, And checking it twice, gonna find out if it turned you inside out. STRAVA is coming to town!

You mean like - Why did my average speed drop over that section? - oh yeah I slowed down to follow a well presented, lycra clad, female, backside.Bianchi Infinito CV

Had to drive through the big smoke yesterday. (I'm a west country type) Along embankment there were sooo many bikes at around 7:30pm. I was actually jealous, even though it was starting to rain!0

Stranger and stranger is that i don't have Strava nor indeed any phone/device able to utilise this (I only have a work blackberry on which i can't load my own software) and yet I still push myself when riding the infamous Balham 'Hill' as I know this is a strava segment despite the fact that i have no way of knowing how I'm doing on it compared to any other day or any other rider (aside from those on the road at the same time as me)...FCN = 40 -

No more like "someone is going to notice I chilled on this segment. That will mean they think I am weak. Oh f*ck it, pedal harder!!"0 -
are people really sad enough to start analysing other peoples data in detail. looking at your own stuff I can understand, bothering to check up on your mates????
Besides in London you have traffic lights, traffic, fat blokes on Boris bikes clogging up the cycle lanes , etc to contend with.Bianchi Infinito CV

If you're thinking it through that much on the bike, you need to pedal harder.0 -

Course, all part of the fun! Not on the commute though, its dull.Blog on my first and now second season of proper riding/racing - www.firstseasonracing.com0 -
I like looking through mates rides, always good to see other people are suffering too. Although does make me feel bad if they've gone out and I haven't...0
-
As willy said. All a bit of fun. I follow mates so dont have to trawl I see their rides in my feeds. Good motivator as well.
I introduced our Landlord to this and we compete over segments on the way to work. He is a lot fitter than me and a couple of times I have overtaken his segment for him to then go and find 10-15 seconds and rinse/repeat. He even went out one night and road 8 miles to retake a segment and failed by 1 second.
His words on returning were this Strava is going to kill me. Are you trying to kill me LOL0
