Upload to garmin connect. Export as a gpx file, which is just an xml file. Copy it and then excise the relevant chunks from the two files. Upload both to strava.

The ride stats may be a bit funny though...

That segment is messed up so I wouldn't trust it.

Anything under 27 minutes is very fast. I did 25.43 which is one of the quicker road times I think. Its 10.4 miles long.

http://www.timetriallingforum.co.uk/ind ... opic=69652 - so you can see how messed up the segment is!

    don't ruin the illusion!

i did wonder if it could possibly be right, which is why i want to go back and do it with a stopwatch. i figured the number of people who were faster than that (and presence of steve irwin at the top of the charts!) was a good sign.
if it's definitely 10.4 then it should be easy enough to just time it.

i had read your account of the course, but thought you referred to going back up Sawyers, and therefore figured the time difference was just because you had an extra hill to contend with ;)

Does anyone know how (or if it's possible) to edit a ride data file? On Saturday I rode 45 miles, caught the train, then rode 57 miles, but forgot to stop the Garmin when I got on the train, so I've ended up with this:

    http://app.strava.com/rides/14044516

I want to separate the two rides from the train journey. Can anyone help?

Can you upload the file twice and crop them both separately?

What you can do is copy the file - there was a list of "Strava tools" a few pages up with one that allowed you to copy a file then "correct" sections, so you could copy the file then just crop the middle / end off one and the middle / start off the other. Jon G's suggestion might be simpler, I don't know being a technophobe!

Quite.. gets up to 39 mph or something... I assumed it was done in a car but then the route looks a little odd.

I got my first KOM :D

    http://app.strava.com/segments/1267735

Basically you start at the top of a hill and descend like a loon (for 1.5 miles at least for this segment). So it's not a proper KOM for proper roadies.

If you cycle around the Monmouthshire area you might know this descent from the ridge separating the Wye and the Usk at Devauden down towards Raglan. Cracking views of the Brecons in the sunset tonight.

I have been getting better lately...

Up to 3rd in one segment, and 7th in two others. 3 PRs too.

I did a sneaky lap of Richmond Park yesterday afternoon as I had half an hour spare. Took it fairly easy as I was in my decorating attire of cut off jeans and an old cotton T shirt. It was really hot and very busy so I didn't go that fast. Hit 27mph between Robin Hood and Roehampton. Couldn't get any speed up going from Richmond to Kingston as there were too many cars, same down Broomfield. I was quite surprised to see that I did it in 21.5 minutes, quicker than I expected. I've not done many laps that I could put on Strava so I thought it quite amusing to see that I'm 965th out of about 2,500. I might be able to get below 20 minutes in (very) favourable conditions, doubt I could hold it for 3 laps though.

Managed to snatch back a KOM on merentun way. Average speed 29.1 mph to take me clear of the pack by 1mph!

Think he might be from Boulder? If not, its popular place to live for USA cyclists, high altitude and plenty of mountains etc.

He seemed to be enjoying the views when I saw him on Sunday, seemed pretty relaxed and confident. Didn't seem as big in the flesh either - I was predicting a "Big Taylor Phinney" tag in a few years when George and Jens retire but now I'm not so sure...

Was that by himself or in a group? Looked at one ride & several koms at ~28mph speed over distance.

42 miles into the surrey lanes to Newlands Corner and back. load of PR.

i'll not be worrying any ones KOM's on a SS though I only got overtaken by one bike which was a TT bike being motorpaced by a moped. Coming the other way saw a team all in yellow? with team car london 2012.

Other than that was fairly quiet oddly enough.

He was riding solo when I saw him - bearing in mind it was Sunday so nobody who had ridden the tour would have been over here yet.

Well that didn't last very long! Had a go at it and missed by 1sec only to get home and find someone's annihilated it.
