3rd Overall on Lewisham Col Ramp to Hill, chuffed with that but still 4 secs off James F and 5 off Big Mat. Those 2 are my bete noir and I know my limits...

Picked up a couple of places on the weekend (although it's not commuting!).. (and in Bristol!)

    Clevedon Road Plateau (2nd)
    http://app.strava.com/segments/1417508

Clifton Suspension Bridge to Clevedon Pier (KOM)
    http://app.strava.com/segments/1421313

Been trying the Clifton Suspension Bridge to Clevedon Pier for a few weeks, but previously had a terrible headwinds... but the wind was not so bad on Sunday. There are also a few traffic lights which I guess add a bit of luck into the segment, but I guess you'd have to be really lucky to get good lights all the way on such a long segment.

Braved the rain for a quick recce of Swain's Lane (just in case I get a place for the hill climb next week). I assumed it would be timed from the start of the road to the end, so gave it full beans from the roundbout:

This segment is starting to look a bit silly now with seven people showing an identical time/speed:

the really silly ones are to be found in Richmond Park, it doesn't like loops much... so improbable speeds, and including folk who didn't ride the same route, it's included me in the RP TT.....I did pass all points but not in the order of the TT!

Having a nice tit-for-tat at the moment on a local segment.

New commuter it appears, matched my kom time of 1 min 57
    http://app.strava.com/segments/1069393

    So day before yesterday I go along & get a nice 1 min 51 (45 km/h)
This morning he pips out, does a round route and gets 1 min 46 (47 km/h)
Tbh not sure I'm going to beat that easily, his hr avg is 191 maxing at 196, so if I do manage to beat him I suspect he won't be able to push much harder :D

So who has entered the Box Hill Beat the Best Challenge?

I headed out early Saturday for a Surrey Hills ride and took in Box Hill towards the end, managed a 6:49, reckon I could shave a fair bit off that if I headed straight there and destroyed myself up it, so I'm going to aim for a 6:10.

I think HHV must be surrounded by some sort of GPS event horizon.

95.8 km/h down the finishing straight.

Was lying in 8th place last night, bit annoyed as got blocked off yards from the finish on 2nd attempt by a delivery fan doing some Olympic stuff - reckon I was on course for sub-6. Will try and get back down there after the weekend when the roads reopen (close on Wednesday I think).

Its the Box Hill challenge one - nowhere near that high overall, 64th or something I think. But they are basing the challenge on times over the next couple of weeks.

    Oh dear. 7.09.

That's annoying. If I'd known the line was there I'd have had it well under 7 minutes.

Won't be long before KW smash up there in a pace-line to take the record ;)

Just have to decide the lead-out order, I doubt I'll be any part of it given I nearly died doing a 5.47 up there in the wheel of others.

by 'proper' i mean 'with my backpack, on my FCN10 jobby, on the way to work'. but yeah :) if the timing is accurate, i'm aiming for a sub-20 by end of August!

That segment is messed up so I wouldn't trust it.

Anything under 27 minutes is very fast. I did 25.43 which is one of the quicker road times I think. Its 10.4 miles long.

http://www.timetriallingforum.co.uk/ind ... opic=69652 - so you can see how messed up the segment is!

Rick - Yes, but not a fair one really, was in the wheel the whole time, having said that we had gone hard for the 20 miles and other hill that was before it. I think we have some riders who are capable of getting very close to 5 mins. And if we did do a paceline job then I think we could certainly get one rider up there bloody close to 5 min dead.

Dan Lloyd is doing it in 5 and he's a full blown pro who competes (well, competed since last year) in full blown world tour events.

His time was done as part of the test event I think. But the fact he is pro actually doesn't make that much odds to this particular thing, Wouter Sybrandy is pro, but has been beaten by a fair few club riders there (he could go faster I would think, but still a pro).

I think if there was a select few and they did it properly then it would be very close to 5 mins. We have someone who can do 5.18 solo on his training wheels (according to his post on our forum), if you can get two strong people who can put down some serious power to keep him out of the wind for a while then I think he would be able to launch it and get down to a short 5 maybe.

Joined the challenge, but not sure when I'm going to be able to make an attempt. That said, my PB is 5:54 and that was done solo so I'm pretty happy with that. That's the prob with challenges like this, there's no legislation for people that do it with a group.

112 miles yesterday, solo. Actual average speed including cramp, feed and toilet stops 19.4mph.

All after a 2.4 mile swim, money, mouth placed 8) and it wasn't flat either!

Does anyone know how (or if it's possible) to edit a ride data file? On Saturday I rode 45 miles, caught the train, then rode 57 miles, but forgot to stop the Garmin when I got on the train, so I've ended up with this:

    http://app.strava.com/rides/14044516

I want to separate the two rides from the train journey. Can anyone help?

Can you upload the file twice and crop them both separately?

solo? was that at an ironman event? 19.4mph is fantastic for that distance. I can do that average on 50/60 mile rides!
