Presumably this is down to corrupted data. Rides since then are fine. Anybody had a similar experience and managed to fix it? I'm not fussed about keeping the ride but I can't delete it on my phone and it's not showing when logged into Strava site.

    I have the same problem.
Have you found a solution for this?

Bah - there's only one segment round here that I'd really like to have the KOM for. Had a crack at it yesterday, despite it being a bit breezy. Got a decent run right until the last 1/4 mile. Then some kind chap in a blue transit decides that 25mph in a 30mph zone on a single lane road isn't enough and he needs to get past now. Sure enough, as soon as he's past (which was a little too close for comfort) he has to jam on the anchors as there is something coming the other way. Naturally, I don't fancy a face full of van, so I hit the brakes, cursing as I go.

Get home and upload the data. The record is 4.43. My time....4.44.

Double bah. I'll get you next time Gadget....

Vehicular road traffic is my excuse for failing on segments. I had a good blast along a new uphill segment until I caught up with a right turning car and had to slow down significantly.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

What do you do if someone has obviously cheated on Strava?

The Hill out of my village has someone claiming to have done an average of 32 mph up a 4% 0.8 mile hill. Surely thats not possible unless I have a pro cycling through my village? Surely?

    how?

I can only see an option to flag the segment as dangerous not to flag his run?

should be a button (flag this ride) to the right and lower of the map.

Got it now - had to go into his whole ride (which had a max speed of 80 mph!) rather than just the segment.

Let me know if you beat 90mins up the Luz Saint Sauveur side of the Tourmalet.

Well if it was your time, its safe to say he will no?

I did this climb today. It was hot. Sweet Jesus, it's hard. Tar melting on the top 3km.
Lost the KOM after a day or so. Looking at the data most of the time difference to the new KOM was made when IP and I were wondering where in the car park the segment ended. Balls.

IP has monster form right now. FACT

OK, I appear to have two KOMs.

One was last year so I assume someone has just added the segment, but the other was on Tuesday last week; where are the fireworks and dancing girls? It doesn't even show up on the route for that day (even amongst the hidden segments) and I only found it by comparing myself to someone else and then clicking on the KOMs / CRs link at the bottom of the comparison table.

How am I supposed to blow my own trumpet if no-one tells me I'm suppose to?

I lost my Putney bridge KOM last night by 22s. It now stands at a mighty 0 (zero) seconds. Impressive

Edit: OK, it's already been flagged and blown away

a kom on a 10% hill by me has just been removed - he was down as doing it at an av of 22.6 mph, but all his other rides he never goes over 12mph. I wondered where mt ricco was.

America exhibiting the culture its famous for and the one we're slowly adopting - blame someone else / sue them for it.

    What a joke.

I don't think we're adopting it fortunately. It'd never got off the ground over here, unlikely to over there either. I do think downhill segments are a bit stupid though.

I dunno, I think there is a big blame culture present in this country personally, its always someone else's fault.

They are certainly less 'safe' that uphill ones, yes, but nobody is forcing you to bomb down there at 50mph, you HAVE to take responsibility for your actions.

First paragraph 'An American' gave it away. They really like to Sue. As for the attorneys comments they just want justice. No they just want a large cheque.

Strava or not every sensible human can manage risks. He took one and it ended up with him dead. That is life, it is sad.

As one of the comments said "Darwinism allpies to cyclists". We are ultimately responsible for our own actions and also for the safety of others.
I realise I mistyped applies, but I like the idea of allpies.

Yeah I agree people like to try it on, but the law over here is nowhere near as generous to spurious claims like that. For the most part, I reckon that if somebody gets a big payout for an injury claim it will probably be deserved (unless they've been fraudulent, which is another issue).

Totally agree it all comes down to personal responsibility but I can see how Strava is setting itself up to be shot at, especially in the States. If its publishing a segment leaderboard where the KOM is over the speed limit, for example, that is dodgy legal ground (fortunately I don't think there are that many places in the UK where the speed limit applies to bikes - Richmond Park probably the most obvious example).

    Agree with that.

The park rules are stupid anyway, they can get rid of them for a cycling event the other day, yet they are in place at all other times? Makes no sense to me, its not like they removed the wildlife from the park. Yes there were no cars, but they fine bikes for going above 20 other times...

Taking full responsibility for my actions, I am pleased to say I have finally managed to get below the minute mark on the Broomfield Descent in RP, now sitting 2nd in the SCR table. :)

Andrew is sitting opposite me and I should be doing three laps with him tomorrow morning, so I'll tell him to up his game.

Afternoon Chris and a good afternoon to Mr R,

I kept noticing your PRs in the park over the last week or so and I thought I'd have a lazy ride to RP yesterday and a bit of a criss cross of the the park, checking out Climb 3, Richmond Gate to Kingston Gate and Spankers Hill plus squeezing in a cappo from the caravan at Pen Ponds.

What time are you hitting the park tomorrow?

Sky Velo meet at 7 at Roehampton car park so I'm going to be popping along to join them. I've been a member for 5 months so I figured I should go for a ride with them.

I smashed it along the SCR Millbank Sprint N this morning, topping out at more than 30mph easily.

I was never going to be challenging the upper ends of the KOM table but it would certainly have been a personal record.

Get to work all excited and the segment seems to have been deleted. Anybody else notice this?

So it is. I'll see if it logs it next time.

I struggle to time it so I don't have to stop at the lights near Vauxhall but with a bit of wind behind me, I'm confident I can go top 10.

I don't think it's that safe in rush hour. A few times recently stuff has turned left over the cycle lane.

I'd agree with that. Usually a taxi/Addison Lee.
