I'm going to have a few cracks at it. Was a bit hungover today.

Might even be able to beat Ed on something as short as that! ;)

Of course the man you really want to tilt your guns at is this forum's very own JonGinge, currently sitting pretty with a time of 0:43 at 21.4mph! All hail the Ibex.

I'm 13 stone, I can't really do hills as well as some of the smaller lads, Ed is fairly normally built, which is even more impressive given his pace in the hills. I'm more of a sprinter really, so Strava doesn't really suit me really.

Luckily uk racing at my level is based more around sprints than hills.

Keyser, how on earth did you get up Richmond Hill so fast?

Thought I did Queens Road quite quickly too but the missus has just matched my time and continued up to the top of the hill proper. I consider myself scalped, and as such am buying dinner (in sufficient quantities to slow her down I hope!)

Have a big L sign attached to my head tonight. K trying to be nice by saying it's because she goes in early but that's just highlighting my failures.

Oh right. Well given I can actually sprint I'm probably being more truthful than the majority of heavy people that say it :)

    1) 13 stone isn't heavy
    2) being a sprinter may be a relative term
    3) do you realise how elitist you sound?
What do you mean you think 64cm is a big frame?
  • okgo
    okgo Posts: 4,368
It would make me the heaviest in the pro peloton, its heavy for a cyclist.

I like to think I'm decent all round, but without a shadow of a doubt my sprint is by biggest asset.

Why? I'm under no illusion that my racing results are off the back of me having a good sprint, not elitist as much as realist.

Grrr what is it with people uploading data from 2010 to taking your KOMs away, going to have to MTFU and show them..

Quit whinging; at least you've had a KOM. My only chance of getting one is if I make a 'special' segment on my driveway...

haha well I MTFU with my Friday legs and smashed it... and the person who added their old data has now removed it, sore losers eh! 8)

Now don't you dare cycle my way, my precious KOMs..

That's just because road cyclist (racing) is a endurance sport. Look at track etc and you'll see properly powerful builds.

I'm a match for Thor in terms of height and weight only in road racing is that seen as heavy.

Yes. It didn't escape my eyes that Chris Hoy is bigger than Andy schleck, I Don't race track, so therefore I'm heavy. I'm probably one of the heavier riders that turn up for the training rides too, so it does make a big difference. Im sure there are lots of heavier guys that go out on Sunday with the main club.

Hmm I did go off on one a bit. Sorry about that.

That said, 13 st may be heavy for a peloton, but we're in the real world :)

Yes. But I still want to race to a high level and am not a million miles away from Cat 2 so I do need to be aware or my weight hindering me on certain courses.

Are you looking to loose weight ? As surely 1-2 Stone would be a massive different in the hills!
  • okgo
    okgo Posts: 4,368
I am. Not too much though. I've lost about 3 stone in the last year. So probably another 1-1.5 would be good. But I want to keep a slightly more muscular build as opposed to looking like a tiny. I still go to the gym to do weights to ensure I don't look like that.

From personal experience, its may be easier to look at other numbers than just weight (e.g. body fat etc)... otherwise it can be hard to know when you start losing lean muscle. Plus if you go too far it just goes back on really easily.

Yeh, body fat is low, I'd imagine close to 10, so a lot of the weight I will lose will be muscle, but I don't need most of the muscle I have I guess.

    Records could tumble this morning.
Unless you're going north. Fecking headwind, sidewind, headwind, sidewind. Ugh.

New wheels are nice though, probably will head to RP for a few laps after work.
