I introduced a friend of mine to Strava a couple of weeks back. He's not very quick but likes a gadget. He goes round Richmond Park a couple of times a week on his MTB. I saw him in the pub last night and mentioned that I saw he'd gone a bit quicker and he said he was shattered but quite pleased with his time. I told him that CJCP was rather quick around the path, he wept into his beer when he saw the time difference.
    Am I a bad man?

    Yes.

I hope CJCP weeps into his beer when he tries to beat my times on the road in the park :D

i'm fairly amused that i'm 9th out of 57 climbing dark hill off road when i'd be using this 6359030053_330c730b49_z.jpg

    Heh heh.

    Dark Hill.

Now, go on; make sure you turn right up Dark Hill in the morning. Betcha can't resist that one. Can't have some old fart like me ahead of you, can you?

@Veronese: I was in some distress after that lap. Really, I was. The front mech doesn't work so I was in the 34 all the way and had to spin like a loon. Arrived back at Kingston Gate hoping my inhaler was in my back pocket. It wasn't.

Going to have to get out into the park a bit more - bar one hangover-clearing pootle all my times in there are from transit rides to/from the hills. Given pitchshifter tried to take one of my KoMs I've got my eye on the short Ballet School hill. Next time there's a nice northerly and when I've got the good bike back....

Erm... anyone else having problems uploading to Strava tonight? It's refusing to let me (Garmin connect is fine) and a bunch of others on the support forum too...
What do you mean you think 64cm is a big frame?

I managed to upload, but got home early.
Keyser, how on earth did you get up Richmond Hill so fast? I'm 21st out of 137 at 14.9mph which I thought was alright for an old git. But you managed 23mph! did you have a JATO rocket on your back?

I've had three pints and a bottle of wine. So might not be great tomorrow. But I'll give it a blast.

I used to live on the road so considered it my home turf :) My R1 Addict sometimes feels like a JATO, had a nice tailwind, no traffic and it was right at the end of my commute so could give it beans. May have to give it another go sometime. I'm more impressed with the 26mph that Pitchshifter did up the short Ballet Hill segment, think that'll take some effort to beat.

26 up Ballet Hill is very quick. A lighter bike might help me a fraction, but not enough. Is a pannier worth about 5mph?

Something odd about it as he has the same time as me on the longer one. So either he totally stopped moving or something? But it's quick, I don't know of I have 5 seconds more. Probably give it a go when there is a nice wind

Signed up for the Classic Climbing Challenge. Always good to have an unattainable target.

Can't get into Garmin Connect . . What's the elevation gain in the classic three Hills Surrey Route, Hungry Hill, Crocknorth, Box hill?

I'm feeling my mileage coming down but my climbing increasing . . .

    868m . . .

    Only 150m more than the daily average requirement . . . . .
Fixed gear for wet weather / hairy roadie for posing in the sun.

Grrr what is it with people uploading data from 2010 to taking your KOMs away, going to have to MTFU and show them..

Quit whinging; at least you've had a KOM. My only chance of getting one is if I make a 'special' segment on my driveway...

    You're not kidding . .

    It gets worse . .

I'm going to assume that I'll not manage to do the climb every available day. I'll have to rest/eat etc . . so if I plan on having a day off the bike a week . . The average climb per climbing day climbs (scuse pun) to just over 800m a day... on commuting days that requires an additional 600m climbing on top of the 2hrs ride, 22 reps of Richmond Hill, an hour and forty mins riding, or 50 mins each end of the day . .

On the bright side . . I had the idea that i could leave my bag at home to do the morning reps and drop it off to do it in the evening so I'd be 6kg lighter or so.

    I'm grasping at straws here . . It's a big ask . . .

I had a right ol' hissy fit last night. A proper six-year-old-stamping-their-feet tantrum.

Did some intervals out to Hampton and back, and could I upload my ride to Strava? Could I @rse.

I'm going to have a few cracks at it. Was a bit hungover today.

Might even be able to beat Ed on something as short as that! ;)

Of course the man you really want to tilt your guns at is this forum's very own JonGinge, currently sitting pretty with a time of 0:43 at 21.4mph! All hail the Ibex.
