Well got a KOM again though this time seems I was doing 35mph around swinley, in other words a short segment in a wooded area gives duff times, well i never!
I've just heards that they've shut most of the trails in Swinley. There is just one loop and the fire roads, all of the internal single track has been closed to cyclists. What was it like when you were there?

Haven't been for a while since they where digging up the trails, it's worth remebering there is MOD land that abuts to the royal land so not all will have gone.

I've been going for loops from bottom of Box which is 20ish miles.

oh nice green bike by way!

Something up with that segment, it hasn't matched everyone yet. I would imagine Steve Irwin will be top by some margin when it does match it, I've also gone very quickly down there more than 3 times, so will be interesting to see when it does match all the past rides (if it does at all?!)

Here is the segment that has the matches, not sure which bellend has created a new segment that seems to be identical.

Loads of segments are now marked as hazardous so someone has gone and re-created a load.

I don't suppose if anyone out there has created a segment they have had marked as hazardous, they could delete it?

Yep, afraid that Segment is f8cked. Credits me with having only ever ridden in 4 times, when I've done it 100's. Also top leaderboard times/speeds look a tad low considering it is mostly downhill.

Smashed a few PB's in the Park today. Certainly beats being at work.

New bike syndrome kicked I today, and PBs on every segment I just rode, and still 0.01s of a KOM must try harder or wait for a tailwind. New top speed on the descent too :D 52.6mph
I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.

    Nice one.

  • Was tonking along a segment last night and a bloody cyclist I was about to overtake pulled out into my path without shoulder-checking. I was well above 30 at the time and, but for my cat-like reflexes would squashed him flat. Idiot. I bet he doesn't pay road tax either, and he had no registration plate on his fat arse.

Didn't stop me picking up the KOM for the segment, though, naturally. 8)

Regents Park is the home of Segments.

Although i'm more impressed you managed to ride through London and Regents Park without stopping for 1 second!

Late to the party as ever but I've got into this, out in Sticksville.

Was chuffed to bits to get 13th on this today, averaging a half-decent speed.

    Edit

And fifth on the run from Buckingham Golf Club to Stratton, including a long drag up the dual c/way where I tucked in behind a crane last year and held 30+ for a good way up it. Could do with that again...

No, not really, not as scary as last time I rode it (first time on that bike) but I've tweaked the set up a little and gotten used to it and it seems more stable at speed now. Damn GPS didn't pick the segment on the downhill, I'm fairly sure I'd have taken the top spot (currently joint 2nd). Or maybe I wasn't as fast as I thought.

My first KOM is proving to be elusive.

nice one, I reckon on a day with a decent tailwind it might go but you never know. It all depends about how much traffic there is around that area.

Created a segment some months back and called it 10 mins cause it originally took 10 minutes for the 2.5 miles, now the 10mins segment takes me 8:28. Shame there isn't much competition on the segment.

I'm used to there being no inch of tarmac that isn't in a segment, or in several, and lists of riders in the thousands. So I was astonished in France to find I had several top ten places (though my delight was curtailed on closer inspection to find that I was 7th out of 7), and taht there were only 4 short segments on a 162km ride

I just got an "uh-oh" email from Strava telling me I'd lost a KOM I didn't even know I had.
It's a ridiculous little stretch I only ever pootle along because it's so short and it's between two gates. Might have to make an effort next time there's nobody around.

Wednesdays effort. I go for a ride with the Bromley Cyclists which is a group of people of all ages. The Wednesday Weekly Wander takes a different route each week and visits a different pub! As there are a few pensioners its a very slow ride, at the end of this weeks I decided to have a quick sprint down the hill to the pub at the bottom.

    My 4th KOM:

There is nothing wrong with my power meter:

    1) I have jds_1981's power reading for the same segment to compare against. My w/kg is below his reading assuming he hasn't put on 30 kilos.

    2) I also put the segment profile into http://bikecalculator.com/ and it says based on 839w average power expected time would be 0.51minutes or 30.6 seconds. My time 31 seconds. Seems the reading isn't too far out.

You're just jealous of my thighs right?

What segment is that? Big numbers, not far off my best for those sort of durations!
