Does make you wonder. Took the 5yr old out on his bike along the Thames towpath the other weekend. We averaged below 10km/h, covered half a dozen segments and weren't last on any of them. Weren't first either, but that's not the point!

I managed a last place on a segment near me. It goes along the coast road, throws a U-turn and heads back in the other direction. Apparently if you carry on a bit further down the road, turn off, go home for the night and forget to turn off your GPS, you'll pick up the second half of the segment next morning. I had a stellar average speed of about 0.01 mph.

One day, if I train hard, I might be able to beat that.

Hit Lidl Camera @28.9, rising to 30 after 10 seconds then the next 20 were all above 30 (max 31.7) and it flagged my run at average 28.5! I would have expected a 30 or 30.5 av on that.

Can't wait to see what Tamas got as I was chasing him down on that segment

Took me ages to make that segment as for some reason Strava kept dragging it around Bricklayers and making it into one similar to the second run!

Oh right. Post Lidl's a bit rubbish as involves going through a major junction, and I don't go that way anyway. Might make one from Lidl to the Bricklayers traffic lights.

LOL - same time as Tamas even though if you look at both our traces, he barely touches 30 & I'm over it most of the way.

We also went over to Whitechapel Road and hit Altab Ali Speed Trap where he got a 3rd Overall, but it didn't show on his achievements

He had to do the catching up there, hence why a better time than I

Are you talking about this? Where are you getting these numbers? Your speed graph never gets over 29mph that I can see, so I don't see why 28.5mph would be an unreasonable average.

I culled a number of segments I made since well I felt they where a bit pointless, also had a fiddle with one to try to get to give more likely to give honest readings ie a short but high speed one.

Ah I see - if you do the click+drag thing I mentioned in one of my previous posts, it recalculates your average speed for the segment as 30.5mph They really could do a lot to make their timings more accurate, the data is obviously there for them to do it.
