I feel that way about myself and 49 at the minute.

I am wanting to give it another go as there is certainly improvement to be had.

Finally getting my times down on blackheath hill, only 2 secs off my best effort where I almost vommed at the top and this time I felt fine and even changed up a gear and had enough to accelerate a bit and that's with getting over a cold still.

Consistently getting sub 20 RP laps now (anti).

Guess it's time to aim for a sub 60 3 lap challange...!

    59.43. :D

    Close.

As happened every other time I did it, it's my lower back that's the limiting factor, rather than my legs.

Only get it in Richmond park, but after two laps I my lower back is agony and my hip starts hurting (tendons around there never really recovered after a big crash).

Something not right with your fit I'd imagine. I get it in races sometimes. Just prolonged effort. Oddly as soon as you stop it goes straight away!

Might look to do some more core stuff to see if that helps. But I don't think I have a weak core anyway.

I get that if I really push on in a too high a gear as soon as I stop or drop my effort a bit and a gear it's fine after 20 seconds or so

Dagnabbit! I'm behind you by one second. On the bright side, I finally broke the 50-second barrier this morning, so very chuffed. Nearly gave myself a hernia doing it, but there we go.

EDIT: top of the SCR leaderboard for Star & Garter Hill, too. :D *

*No doubt some g!t will come along this week and take it off me.

After picking up the London Bridge to SE10 KOM on Friday I was in early this morning so put in the same time for SE10 to London Bridge. http://app.strava.com/rides/22247158
Turns out people are quicker going that way - was only good enough for 7th overall, and the gap to KOM is over a minute still.

  • Is Strava tracking really badly across central London for anyone else at the moment? For me it seems to pick me up about once every 3 minutes so it thinks I've just gone in a straight line through a load of buildings. I didn't used to have any problems with it. I'm using an HTC smartphone if that's of any relevance.

Use a Garmin and your problems will be gone.
What do you mean you think 64cm is a big frame?

I should probably try it on my good bike, reckon the KOM is within striking distance.

You can correct the route with S.N.A.P
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

Tempting, but there's no way I could justify it for my commute. I'm just baffled by why it's recently started tracking really poorly, when it was fine before. More people using it in London?

New PR (by 4 seconds) on Dark Hill on Saturday - 50 secs puts me level with BigMat 8) And I got blocked halfway up so reckon there's another few seconds available...

Cracking weekend of 110 miles cycling including a monster race skills training session at Hillingdon (where I shall certainly be going again sometime).

I find my garmin almost always works if I sit around for a minute or two and allow it to lock position.

So does my my iphone 3GS which if one was being kind, has woeful GPS.

phones are getting better and better GPS chips, Garmin is not likely to go the way of Palm, But equally single use digital devices get morphed into do it all devices.
  • Ok, finally got new phone and joined Strava, says I rode with people this moning. Is there any way of finding out on which sections/at which time this happened as I pass loads of bikes every morning so it would help narrow it down a bit.

    New Dark Hill PB.

Was struggling to get anywhere near a minute. Highest before today was 1.06.

Got a little advice on here. Smashed it today.

    54 seconds :).

3 seconds quicker than me... This will be addressed shortly

    FFS. Joint with Vermin AGAIN.

    Getting boring this.

Not any more RC. Must try harder...
  • A few of the pros in the Tour of Britain seem to be using Strava, and hoovered up quite a few of the KOMs on the segments around Guildford yesterday!

I guess it makes it more of a challenge to get near them

Nobody is going to get near them unless they have a Peloton to help suck them along. The difference is vast

Is it possible in the big ring? I can't remember as I did it so long ago. I know a running club that go up and down Knightingale Lane for training  That doesn't sound like fun.
