You'd probably be better on the steeper stuff, those two hills are still suited to big powerful riders really. Where you would do well might be something like Whitedown?

I did it yesterday and it was a real slog at some points. My cadence dropped into the 40's at one point :O Which is certainly an argument for leg strength!!

It's as much length of the climb as the steepness.

Really steep but quite short isn't all that great either. (Think Boonen in Flanders versus Gesink).

Also, my phone doesn't seem to record the club rides I do half the time so I don't have strava records for quite a few hills I've done.

    Sad times.

Oh, that one. I prefer riding over that ridge south-to-north, climbing Whitedown and dropping down into Effingham. No idea what times I have done/could do.

When I got the KOM it was quite a good day for it, however my powermeter was reading out as I had not zero'd it. I would imagine that it was quite a bit higher in reality than that.

Whitedown just isn't enjoyable, I've decided, I had 39-25 on it, and its not enough I don't think, just turning the pedals at any sort of cadence meant putting out 400-500 watts, not ideal really, was grinding away in the drops to get more leverage, looked like a fucking massive fat Pantani I bet.

    It's not that bad.

No chance I'll be getting anywhere near 36kph aveage speed Effingham mind.

Seems I'm ahead of Wrath Rob on this box hill Segment: http://app.strava.com/segments/865711

And only a second behind on this one: http://app.strava.com/rides/19767425#356304632 - and I've got a JZed style excuse for this one << traffic held me up innit ;).

    Lovely.

I'll stop this now, else it'll bounce back hard on me.

I'll enjoy it while I can, mixing it up with the big boys ;). Quite rare for me :P

I should've taking a post-Pyrenean tilt at Box, didn't realise Sharland had taken such a chunk of time out of me. Dammit.

    It wasn't solo mate.

But I've no idea what w/kg Phil Ember (guy who was leading us most of the way) was doing, as you can see, mine is the highest power of any rider apart from Wouter (who is a professional) and I was just about clinging on to him, flying he was.

Training in the Pyrenees for a good tilt at strava times in Surrey.

    That's real dedication. :D

Well done. I got one on Saturday (off road). I went for a ride with a mate that had just bought himself a new bike (MTB). He said he was much quicker on his new bike (he is) and would I go much quicker without him. So I left him at Sheen Gate and waited over 2 minutes for him to catch me at Richmond Gate, managed a sneaky KOM. I suspect Padders or CJ could take it quite easily though.
Really must see how fast I can do a complete lap when on my own. Last time I tried I forgot to start my GPS, D'oh!

    :D Cheers, chaps.

I saw your KOM this morning. I went out to test the Kona, checked Strava when I arrived home and thought "Err, where do I find that extra speed?!" Based on snot-expulsion rates, I was nailing it up that hill!
    FCN 2-4.

    "Exactly."

No way I could maintain that pace for a whole lap. Nearly coughed my lungs up when I got to Richmond Gate. Fat tyres may be an advantage up that hill as they skim over the deeper sections of gravel.

Aw, so close to a first Embankment KOM. The comparison bit puts me 10 second ahead of Gutchins only to be held up by the lights :(

Nice blast along Molesworth Sprint / Dual Drag this morning. Not sure how fast, but felt good topping out somewhere north of 61kph. Funny segment(s) though, have often felt good only to be disappointed, a lot depends on how clean the entry is and which way the wind blowing - headwind this morning (getting my excuses in place early!)

Does anyone know how to connect a Garmin Edge to an Android phone?
Only need to mount as a drive really, but can't find any info!

Depends which Android phone, if it supports USB-OTG or not. I can't do it with my Xperia Play, so I record my rides to the Garmin's SD card then swap it over into the phone and upload it from the phone.

HTC One S and Garmin Edge 500, so I think I fail on both of those options.

..... it should be so easy.

You could try the instructions on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr ... t=usb+host, but it'd involve rooting your One and buying a few cables and then it's not guaranteed to work :(
