Hopefully I'll have my offset shock bushings by the next time I'm back so it should be a bit slacker too.
Am up for riding anything! oooooerrr mrs
Lmk when your going Lee, Gizzy will try to get along and have a thrash!0 -
Was a tidy skid fair play Friday, Those Kendas really improved your stamina
Hopefully my Kenda / Schwalbe combo will be here by the weekend!
p.s. glad your still around after my monkey handed spannering on the 206Cube Hanzz Pro FRSquarepants wrote:It's not that I'm over over biked, my bike is under personed...0 -
wow.. haven't been on BR for about a month!
Been moving house/holiday/lacking time so haven't been on the bike either
Bike is out of action at the mo though, my experiment into offset bushings failed badly... bottom shock bolt is now stuck in the frame so I've been waiting for a replacement before proceeding to get it removed (butchered). New bolt cost me £3 + £10 delivery *gulp*.
Once thats done, i'll be giving the bike a full service and then a good thrashing.
Now considering a shorter stem, its 65mm now so looking to change to 50mm.0 -
Is this the bike you'll be bringing up to GT in July Ben? I know there was a plan for another one last time you were knocking around here.0

If my LBS can get the bolt out, then deffo. Will be spot on for Inners, probably a bit overkill for GT but my last ride was a 30km xc ride
Any plans for another bike have been seriously knocked back by moving house!0 -
So what's the story behind the offset bushes than? Were they crap and have knackered your bolts, or maybe just weren't put in right? And did you ever get to ride with them in?0

Nice ride colours go really wellDo not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail

Cheers Nelson
Bluechair - they seems ok at 1st glance and fitted well it seemed. tolerances were good and exactly the same measurements as the standard shock spacers.
However, when all torqued up, there was very little movement on the shock pivots.
ie, if I just installed 1 end of the shock, it became very stiff to move around the bushing.
I couldn't see any real reason for this, so added a bit of lube and is was much better. however after about 5 mins riding, there was a terrible creak and the lower shock mount had completely seized.
I haven't managed to get the bolt out as yet, but I'm betting on 3 factors:
1) too much stress has been put on the bolt causing it to bend it as it is only soft alu (based on the fact that the shock is no longer central.
2) the holes in the bushing have been drilled slightly out, so under stress, the bolt has bent.
3) the tolerance between the spacer/bushing isn't as tight as it needs be.
So, i'm ditching them for a shorter stem and saving for an angleset.
I just hope that the LBS can get the bolt out easy enough0 -
That is a bugger as it's a much cheaper option...0

Damn!
I was looking at getting some for the Reign, think I will get an angle set instead.
Hope they get the bolt out without to much trouble.0 -
LBS have sorted it, pick the bike up on Thurs (they're closed tomorrow and I've having a mini service done too) so can get back on it
If anyone in South Wales needs a bike shop, I can't recommend EC Cycles in Nelson enough.

New toy.. seeing as though the bushings didn't work I've gone down a more conventional route. from 65mm to 45mm (anyone need an Easton Havoc Stem?).

Was going to get the Zenith as its lighter, but this just look better looks > weight (only works with bikes though).0 -
255g's?!?!?!?! christ I'll leave that alone then looks nice though!0
-
hehe I know... Goes with the bike though I guess!
About 100g heavier than the havoc, so nothing major really...0 -
its like a quarter of a pound difference  I'm always looking to save 100g, not add it Bikes looking great though, the more I look at FR and DH bikes the more tempted I am to start saving for some tough forks and wheels for the HD or just blow my uni loan on a proper rig for the job, the canyons and yt's look amazing!0
-
You're talking to the bloke that built up a 35lb LT HT here
TBH, once you get used to the weight and ride it, you just get used to it.. yeah I'm slow on the ups, but thats not what I bought the bike for haha!
Since the boardman got nicked, this thing goes everywhere!
One day I might get (and keep) a light bike.. I really like the Meta AM or SX but they're pricey0 -
-
looking gnarly. I see you're having to eat cheap cornflakes to be able to afford upgrades mind, glad to see your priorities are right!0
-
Ahh damn right hehe!
I've had value beans on toasted value bread twice this week0 -
