Left at Battersea Bridge, up to Clapham Common, then either down to Balham, then left at Bedford Hill, or straight down Cavendish Road then across Tooting Bec Common. Down to Figge's Marsh, then you could cut across to Morden and then zigzag up to Worcester Park.

    Maybe.

I'm going to be at Blackfriars at closer to 5.30, I think. Some folks are off early but I don't know who and being new here it's poor form to be first out the door. Hoping to be there for 5.15.

I had no issues cycling home last night to Clapham Junction. I would continue to commute as normal personally.

I think carefully and be preared to u-turn out of any potential trouble is the watchword.

Flashspots likely to be small and isolated but on the move. Avoid obvious target places like the larger parades of shop - Easier said than done in London.

I have to potentially cross regent street, oxford street and Tottenham court road on my short commute to Euston - hmmmmm.

General warning to take everything on twitter with a pound of salt. Lots and lots of bull$hit on there at the moment(even more than usual). Plenty of it looks like it is just being shared for kicks.

Search for just about any area of London right now and you will see reports of things happening there.

I do know that lots of areas have been told to take the precaution of shutting up but I am yet to hear confirmed reports of anything serious kicking off this afternoon. Not saying nothing is happening but if twitter was correct I think the army would be on the streets by now....

    +1

just because it's on twitter doesn't make it true. Internet blogs and Twitter is prone to massive amounts of hyperbole at times like this.

The gunshop at the end of my road (seriously, there is a gunshop at the end of my road) now has extra barracades up. A sensible precaution in my opinion. The blue shopfront next to is one of those mini police stations.

Seen a few more police on the local roads today.

I've now got to cycle to Dalston. Not really looking forward to it.

Is "plastic/rubber bullet" slang for "love egg"?

It might make the news stories slightly less depressing.

"Police used rubber bullets on rioters last night...."

MM, be careful of the police, they're likely to do you for a rioter dressed like that ;)

I think my route should be OK, bar going right past Wandsworth Southside. Its Embankment all the way to Chelsea and then Wandsworth Bridge, 1 way system then the shopping centre. I'll take my chances and leg it a different way if there's any sign of trouble along there.

A bit of Googling tells me that it will be a curfew, so not in effect yet. Bit late really as I saw a BBM saying Oxford Circus at 9PM will be the target for tonight.

I live next to Southside so keeping an eye on this. It's all bollocks on twitter, but this guy is posting updates with pics, all looks fine.

Il Principe - there was loads of bollocks on twitter about Clapham Junction last night. Things on fire, helicopters, it all kicking off. At 7pm nothing, none of it was true, just a few groups of yoofs. 8 o'clock more "its going off" more yoofs, 9 oclock it all went off.

Seems Twitter feeds are attracting yoofs on the basis of something maybe happening.

Southside is only down the road from the same scumbags who did last night. They're probably on a power rush, see it as easy to get some goods and they fancy some more. But they'd be stupid to go into southside as the police good block them in and round them up.
