Noooooo! That one in the photo - they must have crashed it during the demo. The frame's all bent! I'm mega relieved I managed to get in this year while you could still get a proper shaped frame.

    Hi,

I am looking to buy a bike from Canyon this weekend and just wondering if anyone has suffered any conversion / foreign currency charges paying by credit card.

    TIA

8 days for my Nerve AL 7 . So no complaints.
I am a bit worried that I should have waited a month or so to buy 650b or a 29'r. This bike is going to have to last a good few year's. Are we going to run out 26 inch wheels & tyre's, let alone specific parts like rear stay suspension bushes. as Canyon & the rest of the industry drop the 26 inch MTB?

Hi GT. I dont think we need to worry about losing the 26". As for new parts/spares, they'll be around for a good few years yet and you'll always get stuff secondhand.
I bought 26" cause im not 100% convinced about 29ers....(To me) most of um just dont look right for starters and i think its just alot of hype....26" is the future !!lol ;0)

  • Cheers RD,
I think you're right about the look of the 29ers,they just look slightly odd to me. Not sure about the 650b's but for me the future has to be 26" as I just spent all my money. lol.

Hello there guys, i am inderested in buying a Canyon bike.

    (Grand Canyon AL slx 29)

i am 1.73m (5,67 feet according to google)
    71kg (156pounds)
    inseam length 81cm (2.65feet)
    torso 63cm (2feet)
    45cm shoulder length (1.47feet)
    64cm arm length (2.09feet)

the site's flash programm says i should buy a small size, but if i put 83cm instead of 81cm inseam length it goes to medium size.

i thought that me size was medium although i have no idea, and been ages since i last did bicycle

i thought that the small size it suggest me woul be smaller than what i really want... any ideas?

Ask Canyon. I'm a little taller than you 177cm and it suggested small. I felt a medium was better and they agreed via email.

I'm 171 and the smallest size they do in the 29er I bought is Medium. It fits me nicely for riding but I don't have a lot of standover height and I don't even get to the marks on the seatpost with the saddle set right

I have along torso I think, their flash program kept telling me my numbers couldnt be right...

A bit of advice please...I really like the look of both the Grand Canyon CF SL 8.9 (2014) and the Grand Canyon CF SLX 9.9 (2014). I was wondering if you guys could advise me if the SLX 9.9 is worth the £340 extra?

Is there a big difference between the carbon SL and SLX frames? Quite a bit difference in weights (0.7kg) of the full builds. Not sure if the weight difference is due to the frame, or the components. Specs and links below of both:

I'm also looking at the Radon Black Sin 29 10.0 SL - http://www.bike-discount.de/shop/k1275/a103239/black-sin-29-10-0-sl.html - at £2,885 and weighing in at 9,10kg, but I'll save that for another thread (unless anyone can give feedback on that)!

Thanks in advance for any help :)
  • I would go for the 8.9 to as it has XT Drive Train and Formula Brakes, Avid Drive Train AND Brakes would just make me cry tbh.

Snapped a mech hanger today (bought a spare with the bike, so was ok).

Is there anyone cheaper/better than direct from Canyon to get replacements from?

    Cheers

    It's Pilo, isn't it?
  • Right i want to join the band wagon and get a canyon, purely as the spec is second to none for the dollar you part with.

I am looking at either the Torque EX trail flow or the Torque FRX Dropzone, pretty much in the same price bracket.

My heart was set on the FRX as i was looking at doing stuff such as DH parks in the alps, wales and fort bill. But recently i have liked the idea of doing some enduro stuff, alp crossings and the latter (but not sure how much i'd do honestly), which has lead me to the EX.

How well does the EX fair for the DH side, and im not even going to ask how the FRX pedals, as i'm guessing its like a tank.

What would you all be going towards

    Thanks for your help.

Nope, thone ones Canyon sell are crap too, I ended up buying 5 last time as I was going through 1 every 6 weeks or so, not just snapping them but mine would bend slightly after some heavu sessions and I would end up with minor but annoying shifting problems. The last 1 I actually snapped deformed so badly I had to drill one of the screws out. And dont let me get started on bearing replacment!

My FRX was tough to pedal on flat ground, it was defiantly for pointing downward, if you plan to ride this on anything that isn't pointing down don't bother, maybe get a strive instead.

top tip for strive and torque owners is to get a cube d220 hanger, its the same as the canyon version but it uses the finer threaded screw which is far easier to get hold of.
ribble sportive for the black stuff

Canyon Strive AL 8.0 for the brown and green stuff.

It's the difference in the carbon used in the frame. The SL is a new frame for 2014 designed to be cheaper than the SLX...The only way to choose between them is your wallet size really

Thanks for the reply. In regard to the components on each bike, which has the better spec in your opinion?

My wallet will cry - but I can go up to the SLX price.
