I'm a big Canyon fan and have just ordered a new one... 29er this time (road bike previously) and strangely a bike that has been available immediately hasn't been even shipped yet despite the fact that I made the order last Friday :( I hoped to ride it on the weekend but what a disappointment :(

Yes, I found this immediately available tag misleading as well. What they seem to mean is something like "immediately available to send over to be assembled." Their FAQ does have a description of the sequence of steps and related delays to expect once the order has been placed, but they could save many customers some frustratIon if they more visibly clarified that "immediate available" sign.

When we ordered my OH it was showing none available for 3 weeks, but a week later we have the bike, guessing its not an exact science.
  • I literally cannot believe people are now citing the lack of air in a shock as a problem.

True. Tyres need air to stay on rims, they come full of air. Shocks/forks pack smaller when empty, they have no air in. I didn't expect anything else.

maybe canyon should do a bigger box, so the people wanting air in the forks/shocks can pay a little bit more for it, what is the price of air nowadays ?:lol:

I must have missed those posts.. I mentioned it as the only thing that needed adjusting on mine but you'd expect to have to do that anyway. My last mail order bike (Cube) the shock came with air in. This one didn't. Very happy with both.
  • Hi!

How tall is your OH? As I read, XS suits her perfectly? Does she have any previous bikes and what size were those? My OH is also looking for a new bike and probably also around XS or S range of sizes.

    Thank you!

OH's nerve 8.0 w turned up today, out the box well packaged and all the right spots protected. Built the bike up, not sure if i like the raw alu , might grow on me. Forks and rear suspension no air in ethier, brakes fully setup and ready to roll and gears all working.

Dropped some air in, quick blast on the kids bmx trail all seems in order, we ordered the xs so i can just chuck it round, oh got on, length and standover all perfect. Had trouble in the past trying to find her a bike this was pot luck and seems to be spot on.

Would i order another, oh yes, can't fault the spec full xt drivechain, ex shifters which are slx, dt swiss wheels, its a well specced bike for £1.5k hope it encourages my OH to really get into biking again.

had to go for the smallest frame, might have to tinker with the stem etc when it comes but looks like a great little bike

    Hi lm_trek,
just wondering what height your OH is and how she found the frame size vs what the website suggested? Am looking at a nerve xc W myself, the website is suggesting a medium which is 18.5", and wondering will that be a bit big for me at 5 ft 8 and mostly legs! Previous bikes I've like have been either 17 or 18" so I guess it's not that much different...?
    Cheers,

  • My Grand Canyon AL 7.9 is 'Out for delivery and should be with you soon' :D
  • My Canyon 9.0 arrived last weekend. Its the green one. The ordering and delivery process was immaculate. I managed to visit the factory in Koblenz to try it out in the carpark before I bought it and the service was excellent including the coffee vouchers provided for the cafe as the paperwork was sorted out. My only disappointment was not being able to buy the XC 9.0 SL as it was sold out but I was able to ride one around the carpark which almost made it worse! So far I have built it up, replaced the grips with some lock-ons and put some Shimano M785 pedals on. It looks great but apart from a couple of spins around the local woods I have not riden it much but I am really impressed so far. Mine came with the Selle Italia monorail seatpost and saddle which makes changing the saddle difficult so I will probably change the seat-pin soon. A top quality bike at a bargain price.

Any ideas when the new models will be available? I've been looking at getting a Strive but now don't know whether to wait for the new model. I assume prices will be announced when they are available, I guess some of the better spec on the new models will mean a price hike too.

If I we you I get a bargain in the sale now, some of the Strives are stupid money. I shouldn't have looked as the exchange rate and the sale has made mine seem overpriced! (not that it was in the slightest compared to what I could have got!).

Can anyone put a pic up of a Canyon Nerve XC or AM in XL size please? I want to see how big they look.

    Thanks

I realise this is probably more suited to the workshop forum, but given this is where the Canyon owners hang out....

...anyone know whether the Canyon standard thread for the BB is English or Italian? (I've got a Nerve XC 9, but I'm assuming that it's standard across the whole range)

Just about to pull the trigger on a new set of gxp cups while at work and can't check...

Have a look over on the your bikes section, think there's been a few torques on there.

  • Having bought a second-hand Nerve AM 7, I was wondering if anyone has managed to source the cheapest Mech Hanger for Canyon bike. So far the cheapest I have found is around £20, so if anybody knows of a place to get them cheaper it would be very much appreciated

I use these http://www.pilo.co.il , far better than the standard Canyon ones and come in different colours as well, not cheap though.

No. But came very close to buying one earlier in the year. The video below always makes me wanna ride one though!

  • After several months of dithering over a new bike and tested several bikes but wasn't quite conviced enough to part with my cash. Then I spotted the the press release for the Canyon Nerve CF. I couldn't resist and took the risk and ordered the 8.0.

    http://www.canyon.com/_uk/mountainbikes ... tml?b=2753

It arrived last Monday. The bike is amazing, light, stiff and very agile and the looks/finish are superb. So far I have ridden it around my local trails and over at Peaslake. Spent all the time with a permanent smile on my face......even on the climbs! Nice one Canyon.

Carbon full suss for that money, thats a steal. Make sure it doesnt blow away in a stiff breeze 11kg is silly light. Which colour did you get they both look lush but the blue is the one I would go for personally.

ps dont forget to post pics

  • Yes everything else I looked at with a similar spec was around £4500. The bike is in the Slate colour scheme, as I prefer stealthy looking bikes. So far it is completely standard, except I have fitted an Easton Haven Carbon Bar. If I had the option to mix and match specs I would have gone for kashima coated fork and shock and the crossmax wheels, but decided to stick with the XT build rather than go for XO or XTR builds. The only other thing I may end up changing is the brakes. To be fair so far the Elixir 5s seem very good, but the last set of Elixirs didn't last, the pistons kept sticking so I swapped them for XTs. Re the weight, I have weighed my bike with pedals + bottle cage etc on a set of (probably not very accurate) baggage scales and they showed 11.5kgs, so the quoted weight of 11kgs seems about right.

    /waves/

Don't know about the height of my medium, but I could always check tonight for you if needs. Just so you know, my torque and DHX4 pedals surprisingly well. I take it on XC jaunts with the O/H on my trail bike. It's a blast on general singletrack. It's weight is the only thing that holds it back on climbs but mine's a pretty light build.
