What a beautiful day!
* "I was pretty pissed with Greipel's comments after San Remo," Cavendish told The Guardian. "If he thought he could win, he'd say it before the race rather than when he's looking at the results sheet. It wasn't through lack of form that I didn't win San Remo - it was bad luck. Last year I won it picking my nose."
It seems that whenever Cavendishy wins, it is his form and great team that bring him home. However, when he loses, it is bad luck, bad course, or other riders' dangerous riding that denies his victory.
So far i have not seen Cavendishy man-up today and say "Griepel was simply smarter and stronger today" I doubt that will happen.
Perhaps picking his nose is a better strategy.0 -

McEwen was the master of bad luck excuses to thereby avoid acknowledging a rival's superior performance. Cav is simply following his former idol.0 -
please post any statements from Cavendishy where he mans-up to his loss today. I am diligently searching, and there is nothing so far.
hmmm...Cavendishy's twitter ghost writer must have the flu today.0 -
Fact is cav did very well to be in the mix after the final climb, as did greipel to be fair. Given the amount that will have taken out of him it's a decent result. Greipel chose the best wheel and clearly had more left in the tank, that was a seriously hard final 10k. No Renshaw no farrar no goss( dicky guts it seems ) and cav expended lots to be in the final sprint
Chapeau greipel from a serious cav fanboy. I hope the fact he hasn't said anything yet means he is going to offer a well done
Oh and cornoymade enjoy your post cav losing tug when you get in from school it doesn't happen very often.0 -

I'm sure I've seen him congratulating Petacchi after losing to him.
Thing about Cav is that because he is so much better than his competition, usually it is bad luck or whatever that denies him a win on a sprinters' stage.0 -
CLASS:
Quizzed about his constant overlooking for HTC's Tour squad, Greipel showed grace while praising the achievements of Cavendish.
"Of course it was always a hard decision that the sport directors [at my old team] had to make about selection and the success of Mark Cavendish is incredible - he's won 17 stages of the Tour de France and this sort of record gave the sport directors and him the right to make the selection," he said.
"That's why it's been hard for me in the past to get in to do this race. I'm grateful to Omega Pharma-Lotto for giving me a chance and I'm happy that I could win for this team." Yahoo Eurosport 7/12/11
NO Class:
Speaking to the Guardian, the Wanker said that being on the same team as Greipel "is not a problem for me, because I'm a better rider." Of the proposed plan that both will do the Tour de France, he is clear that he would block any efforts by the team to allow that to happen. “There's no chance whatsoever that he's coming to a bike race that I'm in.”
"If I wanted to just win races I wouldn't ride every ProTour race," he stated. If I wanted to get shit small wins, I'd race shit small races."

Perhaps if they did ride head to head in the past TDF, Cavendishy would not have 17 wins. Today's result suggests as much.0 -

You're a WUM - and also a w@nker
Cav tells it like it is - Cav is faster. AND Greipel agrees.0 -
You are clearly not intelligent enough to have any regard whatsoever to the severity of racing in final ten k's. Yes greipel beat him today fair and square but that does not necessarily translate to a pan flat sprint
Why do you only come out to gloat if cav doesn't win, I never see any other posts. Where were your man up posts the two stages cav won? Strange to see such vitriol, I can see he may not be everyone's cup of tea but this is obsession.0 -
I believe there may have been a congratulations to greipel and an admission he got it wrong from cav. Not seen it yet but that's what I gather. Looking forward to corney knob making that admission of idiocy.0

"Cavendish was gracious in defeat, making no excuses for not being able to hold off the charge of his former teammate. "I went early but it wasn't too early on this type of finish, but I didn't commit enough," Cavendish said. "I kicked with 170 [meters] to go but Greipel came past and beat me. I'm happy for him. He's come here to the Tour de France and won. I feel I made a mistake, but Greipel beat me, so there's no excuse I can say about that."0 -
MarkCavendish Well, that's me beaten. Went with 250m to go, but didn't 'kick' until 200m. Greipel rode it perfect & got speed by running up on me #hatsoff

Feel slightly bad for Hoogerland. He doesn't look to be enjoying what would be a proud achievement (wearing a jersey at a Grand Tour) for any cyclist.0
-
Massive sprint for Greipel. Just watched it and he took it by half a wheel even after coming from a wheel behind Cav (and further away from bend).Contador is the Greatest0
-
Hat to Greipel, Well ridden. Fair play to Cav for nailing some points on the board and keeping the pressure up on Gilbert for the green jersey!
Perhaps OPL have found a way to open up the HTC train? I would expect to see a few sprinters teams sending people off the front on suicide attacks whilst everyone else sits behind HTC and says "you chase" on every flat stage now.
Hat to Gilbert too, my Belgian mate is becoming insufferable at the moment!!!
Oh and Troll face, you got burned, man up and admit it or f**k off!!
(oh and perhaps spend a bit less time "in bed" with Peta next rest day Mark! )We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

Voeckler is now officially a tool. Stealing Johnny's points on the last climb and then asking Tony Martin to come through on the descent of the last climb.
The tounge must be starving his brain from O2.0
