    Strange but true.... Richie Porte did the swim leg of a triathlon for a team at the Monaco 111 triathlon at the weekend! Baden Cooke did the bike leg and Nick Gates the run (in case you were interested). Their team won.

    Bernie Eisel and a few others also took part for other teams.

    He started out as a swimmer at school, then moved on to triathlons and finally cycling. At Saxo his nickname is Fish due to his swimming abilities.

    Hmm I spoke with a reliable source last night and they cast doubt on this. They never dismissed it though.

    Can I ask where you heard this from?

    “I can confirm that during the Vuelta, I have seen a lot of proposals from the most important teams in the world,” he said. “Garmin-Cervelo, Saxo Bank, Ag2r, Skil Shimano, Movistar, Lampre, Astana and Sky are all interested.

    “The fourth factor to consider is language, as for Chris there are no problem with the UK teams, the Spanish teams, the French teams, the Italian teams.
