Really enjoyed it. The headwind on the top was wicked but it stayed dry. The descent into the Abercarn valley was a good giggle.Had to get a move on. Took 1 hr 54 mins. What must be a record is we started nearly on time.
Anyone up for a lap Tuesday or Thursday.
I will be either doing Cwmcarn or Bryn Meadows on these evenings.
All welcome to join in if you fancy.0 -
Thursday is good for me Ian0
-
looks like i'm gonna ride the summit trail at nant yr arian tomorrow instead of penmachno as it's more on my way..anyone ever done it? i
think ian, gareth and all rode it a few weeks back didn't you guys?
how long did it take? is it good?
cheers
how'd everyone get on today? did you get out for a ride in the end tom?0 -
hi kev, yes i went out with kelvin and his sufing dudes. think we set a new chouse record of 3 hours
was a nice ride tho. we did the freeride twice. i even got some air on my front wheel.
then me, kelvin, simon(first time there, on a new o 5 pro) Ian (on a gt h/t with no helmut)
went over the red downhill section
Never seen a hill as steep in my life. i rolled it all but the one did drop. which i walked down, as i wimped out. it is about 10ft drop.
Almost died in the tunal when i seen the boys hideing in there for me. had to brake to hard on the front and come off but laned on my feet, would of got a 10/10 for that if i was a gymnate
But raly good ride, banged my dam shin again0 -
just seen the pics kel put up on facebook tom, a good action shot of you on there0
-
yep nice cruise 3hrs --- 2 goes at the freeride loads stops -yea nice take it easy day .0 -
Shame I missed it Kel/Tom, sounds like my sort of day. Maybe we'll have another one soon enough. My FF lid and goggles are on their way..
The DH section is fun isn't it Tom, all rollable though and the more you ride it the mor you get comfortable with it of course.
I've been watching the MBUK doovd today and to be fair I've picked up some good techniques for cornering/drop offs (which I can now do properly after a quick street session) I'd recommend it as it's got some nice extra features also, happy to lend it if anyone wants to see it.Cube Hanzz Pro FRSquarepants wrote:It's not that I'm over over biked, my bike is under personed...0 -

Will be trying to organise a ride up there soon on a Sunday.
The long trail will take quite a while, a good few hours.0 -

Ian
Gareth and I are off for a few Sundays if you fance doing a longer trip0 -
doh, look at my face, i was thinking about the hill and my hat is not even on right
you would of loved it james. it was a nice day.
is your ff so you can just go faster down there?
fun???? yar some of it was really good. would like to do it again but maybe next time not get off. but there is a lot to hurt your self on i think if you get it wrong
where did you get the dvd from? and yes if i could have it for a day or 2 i would be very greatfull.
anyone for a ride tomorrow?0 -
No worries dude I'll bring it along next time, as long as you look after it I'm rather specialist about keeping my doovds spotless
I take it as never too old/experienced to learn and I found some good fundamentals in there I'd overlooked and some advanced techniques I'm going to be working on. In your riding infancy (as it were) I think you'll pick up some awesome info that I wish I'd seen at the beginning. Fabien Barel appears to know a thing or two..
Well FF is favorite for DH/FR as a trail lid doesn't provide max protection if you do decide to kiss the floor hard, was going to type more but don't want to jinx myself
dvd was included in this months MBUK mag, I got the last one in Sainsburys..

Would like to say thanks to all for putting up with my time limit today, hope i didn't slow/cut your ride to much, weather held out that was a big plus, some nice natural stuff was great, nice break from the trail centers.
uploading 3 vids of the down sections.

the Voltage is still in stock at Tredz so still holding out
Been nailing the final descent of the normal red route at cwm on the boardman... think i'm getting to the limits of the tyres now though, had a few sketchy moments
Should hopefully be out on Tuesday night... weather/eyes permitting!0 -

cheers ian, i thought you'd said that it was good, i'll be doing the 9km or 16km trail depending on what time i leave here.
as for the free DVD, my subscription hasn't turned up again this month :x i was gonna cancel anyway after all the mistakes they've made lately but this is the 4th time i've not recieved a mag in just under 2 years
anyway, the sun is shining and i'll be leaving to go riding in a few hours...woo hoo0 -
Have a good ride Kev! I've heard there's been loads of issues with subscriptions of MBUK lately. I can lend you the dvd if you fancy, well worth a watch IMO.
Damn you riding Ben! I'm still not bike fit (insert massive rant and swear words here) :x
What tyres you fancying?
on a side note, In this months MBUK is a £300 HT test, I really fancy a Saracen Tufftrax! Raw HT biking for the massesCube Hanzz Pro FRSquarepants wrote:It's not that I'm over over biked, my bike is under personed...0 -
Keepign my eye ont he weather and my bike in the motor at work so i can ride which ever day's seem nicest this week.
Not a fair weather rider, but when i have the option it is nicer to ride in the dry alll next week off boys suggestions of wear to ride on a postcard!0 -

Ahh I just can't get fit not enough riding in the saddle... i seem to have plateau'd and it fecking depressing.... especially as I'm considering a 9sp 40lb FS
No idea with tyre's. I'll probably let these wear out 1st as they aren't too bad really. Just not too confident on them over loose corners!
Spend £300 on the Cube! Get a nice light set of wheels to make those climbs a bit easier!0 -
ben you going to do tongight? i wil come with if you are, need something to do. james get out we will take it easy. you can ride my bike if you wont and i will ride yours my on is lighter :P0

Yup, bike is packed in the car so i'll be there around 5:30. (Blue Pug 206). It might be a lightish Boardman, but i'm not light so i'm slow0 -
Think I'd rather get a Fox 36 FLOAT upfront (from the SL) to lighten the front end dude, the wheel set is surprisingly light..
I'd love to Tom but can't really, I'd be dead getting out the car park..
Well at least we can meander around together on the FR bikes when you get your Voltage, is it in Tredz did you say?!
Have a good ride ladsCube Hanzz Pro FRSquarepants wrote:It's not that I'm over over biked, my bike is under personed...0 -
What's it currently running fella?
And i may see you round tonight, but i think it's another blast round to get home and meet some people ride again for me tonight if i go.0 -
Fox 36 Van R coil 180mm dudeCube Hanzz Pro FRSquarepants wrote:It's not that I'm over over biked, my bike is under personed...0
-
I'd stick with the Van to be honest, an air shock would never keep up with the rear making the bike feel super compliant at the back but chatterery on the hands.
I know modern air forks are good but there still not coils at the end of.0 -
Yeah would agree... the stiction on a long travel air fork can ruin and small bump response0
