Really enjoyed it. The headwind on the top was wicked but it stayed dry. The descent into the Abercarn valley was a good giggle.Had to get a move on. Took 1 hr 54 mins. What must be a record is we started nearly on time.
Anyone up for a lap Tuesday or Thursday.
I will be either doing Cwmcarn or Bryn Meadows on these evenings.
All welcome to join in if you fancy.

hi kev, yes i went out with kelvin and his sufing dudes. think we set a new chouse record of 3 hours

was a nice ride tho. we did the freeride twice. i even got some air on my front wheel.

then me, kelvin, simon(first time there, on a new o 5 pro) Ian (on a gt h/t with no helmut)

went over the red downhill section

Never seen a hill as steep in my life. i rolled it all but the one did drop. which i walked down, as i wimped out. it is about 10ft drop.

Almost died in the tunal when i seen the boys hideing in there for me. had to brake to hard on the front and come off but laned on my feet, would of got a 10/10 for that if i was a gymnate

But raly good ride, banged my dam shin again

Shame I missed it Kel/Tom, sounds like my sort of day. Maybe we'll have another one soon enough. My FF lid and goggles are on their way..

The DH section is fun isn't it Tom, all rollable though and the more you ride it the mor you get comfortable with it of course.

I've been watching the MBUK doovd today and to be fair I've picked up some good techniques for cornering/drop offs (which I can now do properly after a quick street session) I'd recommend it as it's got some nice extra features also, happy to lend it if anyone wants to see it.

Hi Kev. Rode Nant afew times. It is awesome. The shorter trail, cant remember the name will take anywhere between 1-2 hours depends on your climbing. It has a proper remote feel in parts. the singletrack sections are awesome.Try to add in the couple of singletrack sections at the lake at the top, well worth it.Watch out across the mountain as its slippery when wet. Way marking is a bit sparse but I wouldn't imagine you'll go wrong.
Will be trying to organise a ride up there soon on a Sunday.
The long trail will take quite a while, a good few hours.

No worries dude I'll bring it along next time, as long as you look after it I'm rather specialist about keeping my doovds spotless

I take it as never too old/experienced to learn and I found some good fundamentals in there I'd overlooked and some advanced techniques I'm going to be working on. In your riding infancy (as it were) I think you'll pick up some awesome info that I wish I'd seen at the beginning. Fabien Barel appears to know a thing or two..

Well FF is favorite for DH/FR as a trail lid doesn't provide max protection if you do decide to kiss the floor hard, was going to type more but don't want to jinx myself

dvd was included in this months MBUK mag, I got the last one in Sainsburys..

cheers ian, i thought you'd said that it was good, i'll be doing the 9km or 16km trail depending on what time i leave here.

as for the free DVD, my subscription hasn't turned up again this month :x i was gonna cancel anyway after all the mistakes they've made lately but this is the 4th time i've not recieved a mag in just under 2 years

anyway, the sun is shining and i'll be leaving to go riding in a few hours...woo hoo :D

on a side note, In this months MBUK is a £300 HT test, I really fancy a Saracen Tufftrax! Raw HT biking for the masses

Ahh I just can't get fit :( not enough riding in the saddle... i seem to have plateau'd and it fecking depressing.... especially as I'm considering a 9sp 40lb FS

No idea with tyre's. I'll probably let these wear out 1st as they aren't too bad really. Just not too confident on them over loose corners!

Spend £300 on the Cube! Get a nice light set of wheels to make those climbs a bit easier!

Yup, bike is packed in the car so i'll be there around 5:30. (Blue Pug 206). It might be a lightish Boardman, but i'm not light so i'm slow

Think I'd rather get a Fox 36 FLOAT upfront (from the SL) to lighten the front end dude, the wheel set is surprisingly light..

I'd love to Tom but can't really, I'd be dead getting out the car park..

Well at least we can meander around together on the FR bikes when you get your Voltage, is it in Tredz did you say?!

    Have a good ride lads

I'd stick with the Van to be honest, an air shock would never keep up with the rear making the bike feel super compliant at the back but chatterery on the hands.

I know modern air forks are good but there still not coils at the end of.
  • Yeah would agree... the stiction on a long travel air fork can ruin and small bump response :(
