think it's now between Evans and Basso (pretty obviously), but reckon it's up to Evans to try and put Basson into difficulty on the descents of the Mortirolo and Gavia on Friday and Saturday. If he leaves it until the climb up to Aprica and the Tonale then Basso will be the strongest. All good stuff, could easily go either way!

Evans in good position for podium. But for the top spot we'll have to see how it goes in the mountains. If he can stay this close to Basso, I think the final TT gives him a chance to take it all.

    great stage

Evans puls back a bit of time

less than a minute splits Basso and Evans

Garzelli had been taking it easy the last few days but etc.....

Basso, Nibali and Liquigas will make life hell for the rest.
Looks like the Giro organisers have got their wish.
The race will go right down to the mighty stage 20.

great. Evans pulls Basso back to 42 seconds on GC...Evans could take pink in the 10 mile TT final stage...this is 1989 TDF scenario maybe...hope so

More like 07 / 08 TDF? I can see Evans coming tantalisingly cloe but being just too tired by the final tt - which would be a shame. Still, some monster stages to come before then so it could change again.

    as in the movie

At least Garzelli has the gumption to drop out of the GC first

I like to think it's going to play out like the 2010 Giro d'Italia.

Exactly what I was thinking as all the GC riders came in way behind someone who on all other stages this year has been nowhere near the front few on the climbs.

Basso's hat makes him look like Marge Simpson.
  • Makes you think though. If that was ET and it was quite a bit slower than the last time up there..........ET = BIG gaps. And people packing their bags and going home at the wrong end of the race.

Is tomorrow's stage tough enough to cause any sizable gaps? Hard to say from looking at the profile.

    its an uphill sprint

Favours evans..if had a team that is

they may send Nibs down the road... in which case Evans is looking for favours

hard to see how anyone can counter LIQ

Mmm, yeah, looks like a gradual climb up, then a steep kick at the end. After FW this year, Cadel might fancy it.

Take out the clusterfcuk tht was stage 11 and you'd have Basso in pink, Evans in second and Vino in 3rd right now.

Which is a much truer reflection of talent at this Giro

    But is also completely irrelevant!

Which would be the case if cycling was just a series of ITTs on various types of routes. Good thing that's not the case

Garzelli has saved his legs a lot, so maybe that helps...soft pedalling for a week. Evans and Basso are racing every day.

Still, Evans has the boost today...Basso is getting a bit tired, certainly off 2 days ago's high, maybe Evans can handle Basso on any climb...and a great duel on the final stage. Fingers crossed.

Garzelli looked like one of those prawns from District 9.

Pure ET -- he was soft pedaling blowing kisses.

Nibs, Scarponi, Vino, Basso, and Evans looked like death.

Cadel's Italian is great! Always cool to see a rider talking in the race country's home language.

Wiggins finished in 46:19, 4:51 back.

So his climbing form is rounding into shape nicely for the Tour then.
