More madness from lovely Italy.

PdC TT.

It's a bit daft, but still great fun.

Evans, Sastre and Basso to move up a bit more. But maybe a wierd winner. Who knows.

They start in 30 minutes time to PTP pickers should aim to get their selection in soon.

  • Probably no big time gaps though but fun for everyone. Except the riders. Nibali to win.

Got Sastre at 35/1 on betfair last night. Crazy odds.

... although Basso will probably win.

Looking at the 2008 results there were no huge surprises. Maybe Garzelli will be up with the leaders after his recent poor results. Perhaps Pinotti can get into the top 5. 6 people got eliminated on this stage in 2008 so the backmarkers will have to keep an eye on the clock. That was the day before the rest day whereas this is the day after though so hopefully people should be fresher on this occasion.

Anyone know what the local forecast is? From what i can see there will be the risk of a heavy shower or thunderstorm later on and that could mix things up if it happens. Im guessing that the chance is probably about 10% of getting a real downpour (90% of it not happening) but does anyone know if the locals are saying different?

Sunny, maybe a local thunderstorm but in the evening, not during the day. Apparently...

so both Basso and Evans need to get minutes back here and in the last mountain stage? an all or nothing strategy for both then.

This is so much better than recent editions of the tour

Friday and Saturday are both incredibly difficult days where huge gaps could happen.

Can we keep this to todays thread please. I'm not interested in the shock  revelation that doping took place in the past.

Just a thought but if Basso can handle his bike, his style should be more suited to gravel surfaces than Cadels, but the evidence so far suggests otherwise, so today should be interesting.

Pinotti is riding much better this year, not just a TT rider but competitive on the climbs, especially shorter/intense climbs. Hopefully top-10 for the engineer today.

Slowest so far is 52.14 by Capelli of Footon according to cyclingnews. Think he could be in trouble with a long 41 eliminating him. Next ones are just under 51 minutes - think they may be biting their finger nails later on.

Blimey, Gibo doesn't beat Damien Monier's best time :o

Simoni almost 4 minutes slower than in 2008.....
