This thread seems to have died a bit of a death?

Anyway - just bought a new XT RD for £36 off CRC to replace the mangled Deore on the voodoo.

Had a jager bomb for the first time the other day. Its not too bad. Just redbull and jager. But a can of Redbull with a bit of Jager in it is much better. Jaeger tastes like cough syrup so its nicer with more Redbull than in a shot.

A set of these for The Panzer after I pringled my rear wheel at BPW casing a jump

    deemax_ultimate.jpg

Good excuse to upgrade and go tubeless. May also get a new rim and spokes from Superstar so I have a spare set, it always pays to be prepared :)

Nice wheels. how did you case a jump at BPW? Other than the pro lines they are all idiot proof (I have proved that myself!)
  • Bird zero.3. cycle scheme ecertificate received on Friday will be getting ordered on Monday, can't wait.

Half price from a mate so good value for nearly news.

Embarassingly, I didnt pedal fast enough off the ramp at the start of Dai Hard and caught the rear wheel on the wooden edge. My own stupid fault as I should have walked down to take a look having not done it before, but couldnt be bothered and underestimated the gap. Could have made if if I had just pedalled a bit harder

So not all the jumps are idiot proof ! Luckily the tyre held air and the wheel was not quite rubbing the frame so we carried on till 4.30 :)

That is embarrassing, I have seen a 12 year old on a old Stinky 2-4 clear that by so much he landed to flat!
It is more of a gap than it looks from the start ramp, it's a good 15 foot.

Yep, though only my 2 riding mates saw me: that wooden shelter stops a lot of people at the start from seeing that bit of the run.

Like I said, all the more annoying that I could have done it easily if I'd taken a minute to walk down and look at it. Instead I listened to mate #1 who did it then said 'don't overcook it'. Look on the bright side - I now own a set of cut price Deemax ultimates and mate #1 is the seller...maybe he felt guilty.

I have heard that the standard YT rims are a bit soft - the fact that the wheel buckled but the tyre held maybe says something?

Aren't they Alex Rims? They use quite a soft alloy. On the bright side they don't crack

The rims on mine (2014 Tues Comp) have DT Swiss stamped on the side - together with 'YT 2020' - presumably they are a DT Swiss standard wheel with YT branding (the hubs are DT Swiss as well). Not sure which model of DTS wheel though.

Am probably going to get a Superstar cheapie replacement wheel as well as the Deemaxes, then I have a spare set just in case.

Can you not get the DTSwiss hub rebuilt with a new rim and spokes? Do you know anyone with a wheelstand?

Yep, mate#1 has a wheel stand and will do it for me - that's what I meant but couldn't be bothered to write. DH Rim = £57 from CRC plus say £15 for a decent set of spokes. Hub is fine. Bingo. Unfortunately his wheel stand is not for sale

But I also want a set of Deemaxes and half price is too good to turn down

15mm hub adapters for my old spesh roval traversee wheels.

these mean i can do a suspension upgrade converting my 1st gen bionicon suspension to their newest stuff. to be fair, there is nowt wrong with the current stuff but i fancy a bit of modernity.

    Completely forgot this thread existed!

£1550 with the evans trade in thing. Cost of bike I'm trading in... £0. Can't wait to get it and head out and about, moving to Wales soon so it'll get plenty of abuse, hopefully get some xc racing done on it too. It's not the lightest bike around but it'll do the job for me. Especially once I've got my nice hubs rebuilt with some decent rims, should shed a noticeable bit of weight. Then hopefully, in a couple of years, if it's still intact... Tour Divide time with it :D

Nah! It'll be fine probably (hopefully)... It'll take a decent amount of abuse but should climb nicely and be pretty efficient for getting around on. Aiming to put in some monster rides on it so don't want anything too big and burly to lug around. Besides, it's not the size that matters, it's how you use it
