  • Just a quick update on The Kraken rum.

God knows what they put in it but it gets you proper h'd real quick. Had a few over a friends house on Saturday and he said "this is the juice of satan" after only one. Really spicy if you drink it neat and tastes really good with coke but felt half h'd after only a few. Same strength as Captain Morgans but I can drink quite a few and get h'd but feel fine and wake up without a hangover. The Kraken though is proper dark, highly recommended

Not surprised your mate got h'd if he was drinking it neat :)

If anyone likes their gin, try a bottle of D1. Not cheap but top notch with a bit of tonic or bitter lemon. Got mine cheap in a charity auction, so win.

An slx I spec b rear shifter for a huge £22.39 from wiggle, my drivetrain ocd will now be satisfied hopefully, really bugs me that manufacturers spec a certain level of mechs then fit lower level shifters.

27.2 Thomson Dropper. The Scandal deserves a treat.

Two sets of elbow pads for various degrees of gnar, (post elbow break the missus and the surgeon both told me elbow pads all the time) Troy Lee 5500 for pedally days, Leatt Hardshells for uplifts.

fell off at BMX last night onto my leatt 3DF elbow pad and didn't feel a thing, glad I put them on.

Good to hear. I had some cheapo Troy Lee pads with the straps that cross over the forearm. I got annoyed with them slipping down on the bumpy stuff, so didn't put them on on some bumpy stuff, and fell elbow first onto said bumpy stuff. I'm not having 10+ weeks off the bike again.

Both the Troy Lee and Leatt ones seem to stay well in place.

Blimey, Christmas has hit this thread hard, not much money being spent

The Reba's on my Soul have all but died. This means the Rev's on the TRc are being lowered to 120mm and going on. The Rev's are being replaced by a set of 27.5" Pike RC's from France that I've just ordered, lowered to 130mm giving pretty much the same a2c as the Rev's at 140mm. I've also ordered air shafts and oils for both conversions.

    pike3.jpg

Ordering the RC's at about £380 (at least £100 cheaper than RCT3's) means I might order a pair of Spec Rime shoes, still debating.

I picked these up from the mail depot earlier today, and ive been curious to have a feel. So i fitted them to a spare set of handlebars so i could see how it felt. And upon fitting i realised that they have mixed the levers up - the rear brake lever is the front lever, and the front is the rear, so the pretty nice looking "Hayes" writing is not going to be visible once i put it on the bike, its going to look really plain :| I think i could do a bit of clever work with some stickers to sort that out though. They feel pretty decent, and the reach adjustment is useful and easy to get to unlike my Aurigas.

Before anyone asks, the brakes come with one of those spacer things in the calipers, so no i didnt squeeze the brakes and push the pistons out.

Thought so, which is a bummer. I would do but that requires effort. Not really worth it since the performance will be the same.

Nice 8) Rode one a few years back and was pretty surprised by how good it was, was certainly the fastest bike I rode on that demo day, felt super planted and climbed very well too. Not the most playful or "fun" bike but if I wanted to get from A to B as quick as possible it'd be right up there on my list of bikes

some countries have the brakes tother way round, could be they were marketed for abroad. i have a chum who learned to ride in Norway and he had to swap his brakes round on his new bike when he got one over here. =)
