Just because it's not been mentioned doesn't mean it's been forgotten. SWMBO will mention it when she feels it will have the biggest impact, be warned.
On a different note I blitzed the commute home tonight, 18.1mph average for 9.95 miles. It might not be as fast as some here but I'm happy with the overall figures.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0 -

Wait till your Missus is angling for a big purchase. Bet it comes up then. "Er what about that frame hanging on the wall in the garage in front of the fridge!"0 -
I can live with that.
Her hobby is running and I've already got her a Garmin for that. I wish she would take up something like archery or cabinet making so that she too could make vital expensive purchases of things that are only very, very slightly different from the things you've already got.Mud - Genesis Vapour CCX

My wife has an expensive shoe habit to which I apply the above on a regular basis.

I noticed a few weeks ago mentions of an Evans Cycles store in Glasgow city centre, a new store. But I couldn't find anywhere when it was supposed to open. Got a flyer through the post today telling me, along with a few coupons
Fingers crossed it'll be a decent size with a range of women's clothes.0 -
Average speed of 14.4mph over 20 miles  It was a nice ride and I felt like I was keeping a decent speed but didn't expect it to be my fastest ride of the year (maybe even ever actually).
ummm whoops, double post. But hey, you'll forgive me. After all it's not often I'm so anti-ranty.0 -

Let me get this straight. You want your missus to take up a hobby that involves her buying lethal weapons? You may well be able to live with that but probably not for very long!suzyb wrote:Average speed of 14.4mph over 20 miles  It was a nice ride and I felt like I was keeping a decent speed but didn't expect it to be my fastest ride of the year (maybe even ever actually).
Amazing what effect being chased down by an HGV has on your average speed - probably you should have pulled over after the first couple of miles though!

The Bristol store has plenty of female attire so I'd assume the Glasgow store will, space permitting. If the store staff address you by your christian name you're spending too much money in there, it happens to me :oops:I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0 -
Had a day of work yesterday, that in itself is not worth an anti-rant. but the reason why I did is.
Went to the Hospital with Mrs Toe, for a 12 week pregnancy scan! Whoop di fookin Whoop! she is 13 weeks and 3 days pregnant and neither of us can stop beaming.
It does however mean that I am going to have to find a new home for the bikes, as the shed (spare room) will soon be a nursery. Ahhhhhh who bloody cares!

Excellent news Rubertoe, many many congratulations.
My anti-rant is that after spending the last few days travelling, visiting family and eating we have now arrived in our home for the next two weeks. Middle of nowhere, Tuscany.

Ordered 10 x 5 cards of 2032 batteries off Ebay which arrived this morning. Opened the envelope and had to triple check but I've got 12 cards instead of 10. It's only £1.25 worth of free batteries but they're freebies.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

 Are you expecting a shortage or responsible for all bike computers at your club? I have one in my key fob and one each in CatEye sensor & display, but they last over a year.
Rain has abated, so today's Lowland Games will be more enjoyable. Still expecting to be mostly found in the beer & cider tent, though.

I've got FybreFlare micros on the forks and pannier rag/bag. A total of 12 batteries in the four lights. I'd prefer to have spares for when the batteries die. The light that hangs form the pannier lives inside the pannier on the way to work and I have managed to turn it on during the commute and killed the batteries.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0 -
As I headed out I'm slightly concerned that the cars overtaking me are wet. But I continue on as I want to go round my usual loop the other way around and see if I'm anything but last on a strava segment
I make it round most of the route dry and think I may just make it all the way home, when I feel a spit of rain as I reach the bottom of a hill. By the time I get to the top I'm drenched and the road that was dry 50 minutes before has turned into a stream.
Yet for some reason I can't stop smiling on the road home0 -

One of my team went out for a walk in the local park at lunch... it's a warm sunny day, and it's a great way to relax in the middle of the day.
We had the most epic thunderstorm and downpour (started with hail and got much, much worse) while he was out, without cover, in his shirt.
It's an anti-rant 'cos we just laughed our socks off when the poor sod made it back in to the office. He stood there, dripping wet, forming this pool of sodden carpet at his feet... some wag suggested using the hand dryer to get dry. It's a Dyson blade dryer, so that didn't work.
In the end I took pity on him and told him to work from home this afternoon cos there's no way he could stay in the office in sopping wet clothes.Chunky Cyclists need your love too! :-)

Two things:-
1) Rubertoe - congratulations, I have great memories of the first scan for both my boys, start of a very exciting journey
2) We currently have 4 bikes crammed into our rather small garden shed, with Mrs LF's BSO currently relegated to life under the open skies. Said BSO is due to be replaced and new bike will need proper storage. Was considering adding a proper bike storage unit alongside. Yesterday I was tinkering in the shed and spotted some old hooks. Turns out that we can actually fit 3 bikes vertically along a side wall, plus two on the floor. Saving on bike storage = cost of new bike for Mrs, v happy indeed.Black Specialised Sirrus Sport, red Nightvision jacket, orange Hump backpack FCN - 7

Biked in today despite last night's weather forecast of humungous amounts of rain over here from very early morning. Did about 14 miles in greying cloud that became a fine misty damp by mile 15, then the last few were in a steady drizzle. Rain shouldn't = fun.0

More congratulations ! Saving money for bike & baby?
Its all go I tell ya,
The discussions about an n+1 have started and the negotiations are on going....
I need to get the n+1 in before the baby and the £200 a month saved on fags will go a long way towards it."If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got."

I actually overtook someone going up the Itchen Bridge last night!
Was really in a lazy mood last night and I have developed a recent hatred of hills (Itchen Bridge route is my flat route home). Was thinking I'll just plod up slowly and walk up the last bit if needed but found some energy from somewhere and cruised past another lady half way up. Not bad for my old carrera, panniers and a 5 month bump. Made the last bit of the ride soo much better.0 -

So now we have two commuting babies on the way? Congrats! (and the same to Ruberto too!).
