I think I may have found the perfect cycling food.

I prefer the Banana one which is also good cycling food.

P.s I commute through Kegworth to East Leake, which way do you go?

where can I get this from? Tell me now, or I will hunt you down and kill you.

Cycling, its just great. Out even despite the intermittent rain and strong wind for 90km, over 1000m of climbing and a pub lunch with a pint. Allowed myself cake at the top of Box Hill. Having cycled the zig-zag now I understand why people say that it's not worth it's reputation- it just isn't that hard! Fair enough it took 10 minutes but I held back all the way up expecting it to get properly hard at some point! ;)

Imagine the scenario. You're taking part in the Bristol Triathlon and doing the cycle section and you're overtaken by somebody on a steel bike with a pannier commuting to work along the shared use path beside the road. :)

I've lost a stone in weight since starting the sensible eating routine. I'm feeling very pleased with myself right now.

Could have been worse. My mate was doing a cycle tour in Holland last week and he got passed by a 13 year old chatting to an 8 year old who was sat in a basket on the front.

Had a great ride in this morning, really enjoyed it.

Haven't enjoyed a solo commute so much in ages.
  • Made it up the Alpe d'Huez, the Col de Sarenne and the Col du Galibier last week.

Now back in the UK with the British drivers.

    Had a great weekend.

First time in years I've gone to bed smiling from ear to ear and thought "I don't think I could be much happier right now"

Started to seriously apply myself to controlling my diet and training three weeks ago and have dropped 4 kg! I now fit in my suit properly for the first time ever!

Plus, the sun is out, the grass is green and there's a warm breeze blowing through my garden. That might also have something to do with my good mood!

A puncture on the way in. Yes readers. A flat, in anti-rants. 7 minutes sitting in warm sunshine in a farm gateway with all the time in the world, a spare brand new tube ready to fit and two fully charged CO2 bombs to blow it up with and a nice pointy stone in the tyre with a huge comedy sign pointing straight at it reading "Here I am".
And to cap it nicely a woman out on a power walk from the next village stopped to see if I was ok and when I smiled and said I could do with a nice cup of tea actually it was al I could do to stop her going back home to make me one.

I've decided only to have punctures in the summer in rural spots from now on. Fixing one on a dark wet windy night just isn't as appealing.

I've found and LBS that I really like.

It's a proper bike shop with jumbled display, grease smudges everywhere and lots of steel. They do frame builds (or can get someone to make mods for you) they like to chat and they take everything from kids bikes to the Cervelo I saw in there yesterday.

They are massively accommodating and as yet haven't patronised me when sorting out a mess of my own creation.

The only downside is that they aren't the LBS that's 100m from my front door, those guys are sh!t.

Anyway, for you Surrey types, Neil's Wheels in Molesey are brilliant. Use them if you can.

Found out this morning I got the job I had a second interview for last night. So relieved as things at my particular government backed high street bank are getting desperate. The project managers are outnumbering the staff these days. Commute will shorten slightly and apparently there are lots of triathletes in the new office but nothing is perfect hey! :D

Well done. You can get a lot of very nice bike for that money. I'm thinking something steel and classic looking.

Beetling in this morning - steady pace, not dawdling & not blitzing it either, and the sun is starting to generate some warmth; there's no wind, no traffic, an old boy on a bike going the other way made some friendly noise that I didn't catch but I returned the compliment anyway and as I roll along past a particularly nice bit of the route the thought in my head is 'why would anybody not want to do this?' What a brilliant way to get from A to B, perched on a bike on a fine sunny morning in the countryside rolling along at a nice old pace, and it's just so easy.

I had to get the tube in on wednesday as i had a conference. I am so happy that I do not choose to do that everyday.

Cib is right, those that choose to ride bikes for whatever reasons have reason to be cheerful, especially in this weather.

Had our crap train ticket booking system actually spewed out a day return to York from Leeds yesterday pm, I wouldn't have cycled over to the York office today. 36 miles each way - much nicer than last time, on the Ribble, with a backpack full of D lock. This time, on the 1987 Raleigh Randonneur with the junk in a pannier. 17 minutes quicker for the round trip. Steel wins! And what a nice day for it too.

And, plodding through the Northern edge of Leeds on the way back I see some lads mucking around on push along scooters. I'm ready for some chaos and sure enough one hurtles into the road without looking in my direction at all. "Watch out" shouts one of his mates "A professional cyclist"!! Now I do like my snazzy Team Erebbi jersey but surely the ancient Raleigh touring bike made about 15 years before they were born is a give away that I am anything other than professional. Still, it made me smile.

Found out that running aeroplane mode on my HTC (android) phone nailed the battery problem. I can still record the ride (see ride reports) and I still had 48% charge when I got home. When I did the Notts sportive it bombed out completely flat at 75 miles.

I really wasn't sure if you could still run with GPS in aeroplane mode, turns out you can and all I did was re-enable normal mode, connect the wireless before closing down Endomondo down and the ride got uploaded. Sorted.

After 3ish years riding a road bike, I can now do so no handed. Just rolling along no handed but baby steps.

Cycling in from Walthamstow to St Pauls. ~28 miles, only 2 of those on road, the other 28 miles on singletrack and canal tow path. Awesome.

Thanks for sharing, have an HTC too and the battery dies on Strava after 4-5 hours. Will give it a shot this weekend. :D

Having to listen to all the smart as$ comments from my work colleagues when I've got the lycra on has been far outweighed by the fit Polish bird having a good look at me as I left work tonight :D Only fair she returns the favour, after all I've been looking at her far too often since she started 4 months ago.
