Right, I've somehow managed to bend my FR270 seatpost, so now I need a replacement.
I'm thinking I might get the Charge x Wiggle seatpost and then swap the seat clamp for a white QR.
Thoughts?

it would scratch terribly with all the dropping. why not get a gravity dropper ? drop posts are awesome and your bike is crying out for oneViner Salviati

I'd like one, but sadly I'm not made of money. £200 for a seatpost is retarded That's almost twice what my frame cost!
Dont think I'll be getting one of those charge posts now anyway, they are only 330mm, and I was already at min insert on the 350mm one it's replacing.0 -
although dropper posts are alot of money i reckon its one component thats worth it, make a big difference out on the trail. if going for a rigid post id buy one with strength in mind over looks. a thomson would be hard to bend or an easton havokViner Salviati

Hmmm, just found out that the shop I bought my deviant from never took their money off my card.
Maybe a gravity dropper is on the cards after all.0 -

Graviy droppers weigh more than my arm though. On a heavy bike its not something I'd really consider!0 -

Even with the Gravity dropper fitted (I'd be going for the heavier 400mm, 4" non-remote, standard version) The whole bike would be coming in at JUST over 30lbs.
I'm going to wait and see if this company ever takes their money. If not, I've got a gravity dropper for £500 -

Just changing the tyres on my P7... should lose about 1.2lb  (if manufacturer weights are accurate)
Hoping for a rather low 28lb using the (un)scientific weighing method lol.
When you getting the carbon 456?0 -

When a few people have had them a couple of months and can all give feedback saying the frame is better than the steel one. :P
No point fixing it if it aint broke.0 -
any luck they might do a silly pre order offer on the ti 456.Viner Salviati

Right, I can't really afford a gravity dropper right now to be perfectly honest.
Question now, is do I go for another white post, or should I just get a regular black one?
As I've got the black forks and mainly black saddle (with orange bits) I'm not sure it would look all that bad with a black post.
Opinions?0 -
these people anodise thomson posts any colour you want

I think the white post is too much atm. I'd personally go for a black one.0 -
I think the white post works well. you've got white rims, and white stem. Each one is separating black from brown or orange.
Stick with the whiteIt takes as much courage to have tried and failed as it does to have tried and succeeded.

It looks great now, but I'd say go for black, I think the white looks just a little, dunno, "chunky" :?: .0 -
Black post ordered. Gravity Logo. £25 down from £53 at CRC. Bargaintastic!
Supposed to be mega-strong!0 -
Bike's looking great CWNT. Quick question - what crankskins did you use with the Atlas AM cranks (thinking about getting some as I've just bent my SLXs) I can't find Atlas as an option on the crankskins site, but I really want some or that orange anodising will look poo after a couple of rides.Santa Cruz Chameleon

Sadly, there is no option as yet for Atlas crankskins, they're just too much of an odd shape.
My Atlas cranks are holding up ok so far. The anodizing did start wearing off the very tops of the ridges, but it seems to have stopped now (hopefully).
I keep meaning to fashion my own crankskins out of some unused clear crankskins I've got kicking about the house. If / when I get round to it I'll let you know.
I've just swapped over the bars, back from the Atlas FR Bars that were on there, back to some FSA Maximus bars I had lying around. It's not quite as bling, but I think the Atlas bars were just too wide, it was ruining the ride. I think I'm going to get the Atlas Bars chopped down and re-fit them.
I have also just fitted a Gravity Logo seatpost, the old FR270 bent
Altogether, the bike's looking a lot less bling, but it's riding much better.

the black post looks abit odd tbh.
i knew you would probably chop the atlas fr bars down sooner or later. they are only good for FR and DH tbh. you don't usually need bars that wide anyway.
bike looks great, enjoy the summer rides to come0 -
I think it'll look less odd when I change the Bars back to the Atlas ones.
Also, that picture was taken in really crappy light.
As for chopping the bars down, I'm pretty tall, with wide shoulders, figured I'd give them a go.
With the low front on the 456 frames, it just resulted in my weight being too far over the front0 -
Some more pics, in better light.
The problem with the front is the combination of the white bars, grips and stem.
When the Atlas bars go back on, it'll look much better.

Hahaha, tell me about it. I'd somehow managed to miss that when I set off for work this morning. I swear, the damn thing tried to rape me at the first set of traffic lights.
At first I was like  , then I was like :x , then I was like
Needless to say, I have now d-locked the cnut and all is well.
I'm now thinking that maybe I should sell the atlas bars and get some Orange grips instead. And a black stem.0 -
White stem lokos good... perhaps a white saddle?
Or the black + white ragley I have sat in a box somewhere?0 -
Just ordered some orange grips from good old Superstar0
-
Been rooting through my bits box, and found some Diabolus bars and an Easton Vice Stem.
I'll be fitting the new orange grips when they arrive from SuperStar, and may get some Funn Terrain F2 Carbon Brakes (in orange) if I sell the codes.
