DMC, that 10mm qr seems to work quite well actually. I've got it fitted now. I figured that for £7 it'd be rude not to.

Your rear wheel is a 10mm axle and you have just normal dropouts dont you?Orange 2010 P7 - Custom Build - My New Bikey Poos

edit: where does your dropout rest? on the rear hub or on the 10mm SuperStar axle? Just trying to work out why Orange and Hope both say that the 10mm Bolt Thru wont work yet I keep reading that you can?Orange 2010 P7 - Custom Build - My New Bikey Poos

yep, normal dropouts are all 10mm wide (afaik), my hub sits between the dropouts, and the 10mm axle rests in the dropouts and is pinched into place in the same way as regular QR axles.
Not sure why hope and orange say it wont work, I'm fairly sure I know of other people with P7s fitted with 10mm axles.
It may be worth starting a topic in the workshop, I'd be quite interested to hear what our resident experts have to say.0 -

Hahahaha,
Well, it's supposed to be orange, but people were saying it looked more red. So I thought I'd try bleaching it to make it lighter, which seems to have made it pink. :?
I do however have a white chainstay protector on the way as soon as Winstanleys can be ar5ed to ship it.
Wheels are great, mega stiff, and actually 100g or so lighter than the I9s would have been (although not as bling)
Here she is set up for commuter duties this morning. Travel wound down to 95mm and locked out, flats fitted, mudguards removed because it's a lovely day
Note to self: filtering through narrow gaps between cars is a lot more difficult when you have 785mm wide bars fitted.

saddle looks very nice... really matches well with the pikes.... i have to say CWNT, it realy is a proper stunner...I like bikes and stuff0
-
That black saddle works. You're in a lucky position in that a pimp white saddle would make it a balls-to-the wall blingtastic experience. And you can tone things right down with the black saddle and still get a match with the Pikes
In theory you could have a permanent fashion horse.
....or unlucky position - because you could potentially spend yet endlessly more money on stuff.
personally I'd stick to a black saddle and a white pimp saddle and rotate as mood dictated.0 -
Next up is brake cables switched to white.
New spring arrived this morning, bottle cage bolts and dust caps are on the way, white chainstay protector is on the way. I THINK we are about finished.
Although if Ragley ever decide to make the white/orange cheeky, I'll be having that too.0 -
What dusty caps did you get? Looking for some nice light red onesOrange 2010 P7 - Custom Build - My New Bikey Poos

Got some MOWA bits off a HK seller on ebay called "simplicity cycle". I've used them before and they are pretty good.

lol, you'll be needing the headset bolt and bottlecage bolts to go with that order sir. Oh, and I have the rotor bolts too, they're also rather nice.
The seller will combine shipping too.0 -

Oooook, So I got home tonight and my x-firm spring was waiting for me (thanks to CRC, I only ordered it 4pm Bank holiday Monday).
All those people who said "it's only a 5 minute job"...... I wasnt 5 mins, it was 20, but that's with me being VERY careful and reading each step on the TFT webby twice before doing anything. It really was very VERY easy.
Aaaaanyway, x-firm spring is now installed, and I must say, I'm very pleased I went for the x-firm over the firm. It's hard to describe, but the small bump sensitivity is still great, but instead of eating all the travel on bigger stuff, it seems to ramp up a bit more effectively. It's a bit less bouncy now.0 -
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She sustained her first battle scar today
Comes from an over the bars moment after falling off a boardwalk section at the local trails (sadly, no camera footage of this, as it was bIoody hilarious, I swear, I thought I was a gonner ).
Still, it's not all bad, the charge chipper white chainstay protector turned up. Doubt it's going to stay white for very long though.

+1 slighlty ruins its rather clean lines imo. but still looks class 8)0 -
Yeh, I completely agree about the mudguards. I mostly ride natural stuff though, and it can be very boggy. 6hrs + with a soggy, gritty ars* is not a nice experience (call me a wimp if you will).
As per ElCap, roll on summer!0 -
yer a soggy arse is never a nice thing. any idea how much it weighs????0
-
30.1lbs with pedals and mudguards
She's no lightweight, but built to take all day good thrashings from my fat ars*.
If I wanted lightweight, I'd have started with something lighter than the 456 frame anyway.0 -
thank the lord that you got rid of that pig ugly and not suited at all chain stay protector. it was really such an eye sore and the bike looks so much better for it, good work.
bike looks fantastic by the way.
i recommend taking a picture of it without the mudguards so we can appreciate it a bit better, i know the guards are useful but it doesnt matter how you dice it, ALL mud guards are webbo looking.0 -
Looking good CWNT, how you finding that saddle?0
