Sweet! You camping too?
As I've not been camping since I was about 12, would somebody like to tell me what I'll need to bring?
Want to keep it to a minimum because I'll still have to cart it on/off the ferry with me.
Got tent, sleeping bag and mat. Getting a bag to stick it all in shortly. What else?0 -
That's very nice and unique too.
A bit "hardcore" for my liking (as in heavy duty) and the bars are VERY wide but the rest looks like a lot of fun. And it's a HT too which is what "proper" MTBs all are
Shouldn't you be riding an old gits trailcross bike or something though?0 -

Cheers Matt, for the riding we do here, I found my old XC FS was breaking too easily, but the commie supreme was a bit overkill, this fits nicely in the middle and I can tone it down quite easily when I want to. Will be even more versatile once the carbon frame replaces the steel one.
And as for old gits trailcross bike. What you saying you cheeky git, I'm only 270 -
CWNT - as soon as I wrote that (old git) I realised I just mixed you up with someone else. Too late to edit though!
Fine for a 27 year old!
Only time I break my bike is from wear and from crashing (rarely) - my nancy style has advantages although I fear for my new carbon brake levers!
How much does that weigh? Didn't you mention going ti not carbon? I'd pick ti over carbon for that I reckon - more durable, stronger, easier to fix (in fact possible to fix - carbon isn't). Having said that my dream frame is an S Work/Marathon Stumpy HT which is very much carbon...
I'm assuming it's both strong and lightish too? Anyway a fine steed.0 -
I see
Comes in at almost exactly 30lbs so it's still a bit porky, but then again, so am I
Switching to the carbon frame will probably get it down to about 28.5lbs and that's about as light as I will be able to get it without compromising on strength somewhere along the line.
With the way I like to crash [Exhibit A], I'd rather not lose any of the strength.
Random vid of me out on the trails0 -
CWNT - that faceplant is classic! Looks like you landed a little jump a bit off balance (I think)? Glad the bike survived.
Northshore looks fun on the other vid too. Except I take my rear mudguard off when it's as dry as that ;-)
Now I fancy riding again for the 2nd time today...!0 -
Trust me when I say it wasnt that dry. Sure, the trail centre was ok, but on the way home, I superman'd over the bars headfirst into this puddle:
0 -
Ahh - the old trail trick of pretending it's dry then throwing a puddle/lake/bog at you unexpectedly...
Assume your hubs are sealed? Did similar on mine a while back and just had my hub opened up - not good at all....looked like the bottom of a stagnant pond!
New wheel with sealed bearings (Hope 2 Pro, Mavic xc 717, handbuilt) arriving Monday!
Exciting, expensive (although compared to yours, a budget bike) but lots of fun!0 -
Well, hubs are sealed, but the front end has developed a creak in the last few days. Not sure what it is exactly, sounds like it's maybe the forks or the maxle, but I'm going to strip it all down over the weekend and have a proper look. With wheels that bIoody expensive, I'm not taking any chances.0

I think the wheels steal the show - serious bits of kit!0

Oooof Mr Chicken, very nice of you to say so, but that's a pretty big statement to make.
Still, cheers0 -
I hate you for making me want to spend more on my 456.0

You'll love me when it's finished and rad to the power sick though
Dont think I'd change anything on mine really, although it is very much designed for me and my style of riding so I doubt many other people would enjoy it quite as much as I do.
It was an absolute legend at Llandegla yesterday, just wish I'd been able to do it justice with my "skillz".0 -
How did you find the Pikes with the X-Firm spring in them for your ride at Llandegla the other day?Orange 2010 P7 - Custom Build - My New Bikey Poos

I needed the x-firm.
I could have possibly made do with the firm spring, but the x-firm is definately the right one to have.
Finished the day having used most of the travel, but without bottoming out once. Leaving room to push a bit harder or be a bit more clumbsy.0 -
Stunning looking bike.
I believe Crankbrothers are doing some orange anodised rims as part of there all mountain collection, think you might change ?0 -
do it, do it !
ole ginger b*ll*cks / the ginger ninja0 -
Meh, I did actually look at getting a set when I was building. They're nice enough, but my EX1750s are better
If I ever upgrade, it'll be to I9 Enduros0 -
Nah the whites look better.0

Cheers.
You should get some, with some custom pink graphics instead of the orange ones that come with them. That'd look awesome with your bike!0 -
I would rather like to but cant really justify it at the moment!0
-
Right, who wants to help me to spend some birthday money upgrading stuff?
I've had a look, and I'm struggling to find a weak link on the bike as it stands, but my birthday is in a couple of days and people are asking what I want.
I'm already saving for the carbon frame and a Joplin.
Unless someone can come up with something that I must have for this bike, I'm thinking of getting a new helmet. Possibly a Specialized deviant or something.0 -

I'd thought of that, but my XT cassette is pretty much brand new. May as well wait until it's worn before replacing.0 -
