  • I've also got an Enigma Ego Ti... Great bike. Enigma are a great bunch of guys to get a bike from - they've been excellent in my opinion. If you can get down to Sussex to see them I'd recommend it.

my ample ar5e decided to snap the rails of my karbona saddle i ive replaced it with a fsa k-force carbon-ti leather topped jobbie, not gonna bother with carbon rails ever again. the fsa saddle has tubular ti rails and is actually lighter if not quite as comfy but its got red detailing that matches the bike and my ass has enough padding to compensate, also gonna swap the ritchey carbon wcs bar for a set of alu raceface dues 3/4 risers 680mm in a rather nice blue colour, only slightly heavier but a bit longer and after snapping the carbon saddle i will feel safer. as for wheels im still mulling over several options.

  • Wheels wise, I still say I9 Enduro are the way forward.

If not, I can't recommend my EX1750s highly enough. They've been absolutely FLAWLESS for over 7months riding in all conditions. Hubs are still smooth as the day they arrived, wheels are both still true as a very true thing. Only slight niggle is the rims, which seem to be made of play-doh and pick up a new dent every time I leave the house.

so they're flawless apart from the dented rims? you should do reviews for mbr.

dents are a sign of nobility and command upmost respect. ive kinda got my heart set on a pair of carbon havens but they do look a little ken barlowish

I thought that! My frame is flawless, although it has snapped 37 times, flawless I tell you.

Like the Rotor bits, how's the shifting with the front mech that high? Those M950 ones were designed for larger rings anyway. Far too much anodising going on, a bike like that should be more subtle!

the shifting was awesome but i went back to the slx dual specific one for aesthetic reasons. and what planet are you on ??? you can never have too much anodising..... yes i could have a subtle bike but then it would look like every other subtle bike out there. once i get the blue bars and some ultra colourful wheels fitted it will look like dame edna,s jewellery box

you can never have too much anodizing in one uniform colour perhaps but red gold and blue on a silver bike will look interesting.

  Alright alright alright, Performance has been flawless but aesthetically, the rims look a bit ding'd up. Jeebus you lot are a tough crowd sometimes.

Oh, and I'll review your MBR in a minute.

ok i know i said the enigma was finished but im a pathological liar. going for a fullish make over. just purchased a full xtr (m770) transmission inc chainset, f/r mechs, cassette and shifters, a new set of formula the one brakes with 180mm rotors, a superlight ti stem and various bits to get rid of all the colours so im left with a much classier looking steed with just the odd splash of colour. should be a bit lighter to. the brakes may seem like overkill on such a light bike but im fairly heavy so i need them pics to follow once all the bits arrive, also keep your eyes on the classifieds for a bunch of bingy bits

nearly done just waiting for some new lighter tyres, the ti stem and still trying to figure out a lighter set of wheels. ive decided to trim my weight, im already 2 stones lighter than my previous 18.7 stones and will probably come down to 15ish so i can ditch the roval traversees for something lighter. my new wheels will have to be tubeless and have a 15mm front hub. my current rovals weigh bang on 1600grams which is good for a heavy duty set but i next wheels need to be at least 100 grams lighter. i already have a new american classic 15mm front disc hub so i might buy a rear and lace them to stans arch rims with sapim cx-rays for a weight of 1500grams but still with a strong rim to take my weight. if anyone has an american classic rear 32 hole disc hub lying around give me a shout
    cheers

    Needs more pics though.

pics will appear here once my new stem is fitted, its looking good though. it almost looks all grown up and serious although ive maintained a bit of anodising. and please dont congratulate me on the weight loss as it took me ages and cost me a fortune to get up to that weight. only lost it through stress and illness ha ha ha but if im honest i was getting too big and needed to drop some. hope everythings ok your end, must have been hard to split the bop. nice orange btw. i have a set of new unused campag stheno rims black 32h from 1992ish if you need any retro rimmage. whatever you do please keep the original colour scheme and stick a load of black bits on. i remember the 93 clockwork with the black deore lx groupset on and its was and still is one of the fittest bike ive ever laid eyes on.

What is it? Decent weight. Is that with Ti hardware?

I didn't mean it doesn't fit, just looks like your saddle is all the way back, why not have a layback post with the rails in the middle of the clamp...

its a non branded chinese affair, very well made and with ti bolts. the bolts are also quality items unlike some that round off if they even smell an allen key. the clamp on my post is very wide, if you look at the pic even though the saddle is all the way forward theres only 15mm of real spare at the rear. its placed to make the most of the shock absorbing flex in the post, feels like i have an inch of suspension.

just searchin for a rear hub now, need a black 32h 6 bolt hub sub 300grams as i have all the other bits to build my wheels. looking at the super star rear evo hub on offer for £40, should be 285ish grams with 10mm bolt thru axle. if i want my wheels to dip under 1500grams i need a sub 280gram hub, dont want to spend silly money as im gearing up for a new build. my next project will be a 150mm front travel hardtail in titanium for doing all the stuff my enigma wont with a sub 24lb target weight

Holy shifter angle Batman! Can you actually change gear?! Fair comment on the seatpost, couldn't see the clamp clearly in the other photo.

A2Z do cheap light hubs, think they're only Qar though, and bearing life is apparently rubbish. Superstar may be the best bet.

controls are not set yet, still to ride it after the face lift. just waiting on tyres and a couple of blingy bits then shes off to llandegla to get dirty. just decided to stick with the rovals they weigh just a smidge under 1600, tubeless and have ceramic bearings in the rear hub. for their weight they can take a kicking, for the sake of 100 grams and the possibility of killing a set of superlights i may as well hang fire. may order a refresh kit for the rear hub as the star rachet internals have had a hard life

They don't really wear out though, I've got 6 year old ones in road wheels. Have you got the 36t ones? 10g lighter...

I've got some nice brand new Bonty XXX Lite Carbons to sell if you want something lighter :-)

ive seen your bontys and they look lovely apart from the white spokes which would destroy my colour scheme and make me cry, also need to be 15mm front. there wera a pair of the carbon syncros wheels for sale on ebay brand new for £420 but missed them by minutes. as for my dt stars they dont sound as crisp as they did when new so i think that justifies the £20 refresh kit as my ears would never forgive me
