in a moment of weakness last night i also ordered a fancy set of cnc alloy gear cables. actually i ordered 3 sets, gold black and red. im going to mix all 3 colours to make some multi coloured hyper pimp gear cables. might put the 4ti eggbeaters back on too. the shimano spds feel more solid under foot but the eggbeaters are nearly half a pound lighter

Your a bad man pastey_boy for putting this on here, you should be barred, I'll never have any money at this rate! :D Stunning looking bike there fella.

Have been thinking of a titanium frame for a while and this ticks a lot of the boxes for me. Sorry for the really dumb questions but can you purchase the frames direct from Enigma as well as specified dealers? Also I'm 5' 11' with a regular inside leg (my current FS is an 18") so was thinking a 17" frame, sound about right?

    Cheers for any info

yes you can buy direct from enigma and can specify quite a few custom options as they are welded in this country. i have the 15inch which is right on the limit for my 5ft9 so yes the 17 should fit you perfect. ive also go to add that the ego has the fabled ti ride, its stiff in the right places yet supremely comfy, even with a 2.0 tyre it feels like i have a couple of inches travel at the back at times. very nimble too. enigma specify a 100mm fork with this frame, it originally had 100mm rebas but i measured the axle to crown on some fox 32 120mm forks and the difference was 4 mm so i fitted a pair and the bike feels even better with nearly an inch more travel yet exactly the same handling. been chopping and changing my bikes the past few years but i have finally found my perfect bike

Cheers for that and some really useful info there. Interesting about the forks so will bear that in mind when/if I get to buying one.

Read a couple of reviews and such from owners and they mostly say the same as you've said about the ride.

Thanks again for the feedback and happy riding :)

got an absolute bargain off ebay lastnight . a as new charge titanium/leather spoon saddle rrp £70 i paid £20 inc delivery via paypal at 10 this morning and the seller hand delivered it to my door 2 hours later. just swapped it with the cromo spoon and saved 70 grams  .after trying lots of different pedals ive settled on a pair of powerplay force pro. ive got a set of crankbrother 4ti,s and a pair of xpedo mf mag ti pedals but im finding im too heavy for the ti spindles as i weigh much more than the recommended safe weights for these pedals. also tried m540,s which feel awesome but are a bit too heavy. the power pro,s are a good compromise as the are lighter than xtr,s but dont have bushings like the superlight pedals so can be serviced easier. also considering a titanium stem. after that i reckon its finished although i said that many new bits ago :?

If you really must do multi-coloured gear cables in black/gold/red, pleeeeease for the love of little baby jeebus, don't then go and stick blue cables on too. It will look awful.

Personally, red gear AND brake hoses FTW!

i suppose i could order some red goodridge hose to use with the gold fittings but the blue is just sat there doing nothing looking for a home

to be honest lost interest in the classifieds on here. its ok to buy but selling is not so good. would rather stick stuff on ebay as it sells alot easier although the charges bug me. gonna finally strip the ragley and get rid. enjoying the enigma too much cant see me using it also i cant seem to sell as a complete bike. are you tempted by the 456 carbon for £399?

    Furry muff then.

I agree, stripping down and selling seperates is the only way to go, especially if you're not desperate for the cash right this second.

I am tempted by that carbon 456, but I want to see some 1st hand ride reports first.

No concerns about strength, but I'm in no hurry to swap out my steel frame if they've ruined the ride quality and handling. I'm expecting nothing but good things though.

Just signed up for a DH race on the 456 though, so I may end up swapping frames sooner than I thought

you should be ok .they used to use hardtails in the world champs. i remember david hemmings winning a medal on a fully rigid klein. i would suggest a gum shield though

Oh, It's nothing too gnarley, and you've seen me riding, I doubt I'll be going fast enough to lose teeth

Just bought a specialized deviant carbon though, hoping it'll allow me to push a bit harder.

Aaaaanyway, back on topic. red cables yes, blue cables no.

    pastey_boys rules for successful mtb,ing
1 strategically place bike outside trail centre so the others may drool
2 dont have kids so any spare cash can go on new shiny bits
3 riding the bike is secondary to showing it off
