Apologies to El Capitano I started reading this thread with a couple of suggestions in mind,
but by the time I reached the 7th page, I forgot what the thread was about

What he's saying is that he owns his own succesfull business, and with his foresight, created a company that did so well, he was able to have the 'spare' CASH in order to buy outright a new / nearly new top-flight Beemer.

Hate to be a pedant but I'd disagree...

    Is that really necessary?

    No it isn't.

    It's not exactly base spec.

Im not saying it is. It's a damn nice car. Just not 'top flight'

Whatever - does it matter? Is it really worth highlighting? No. It just makes you look silly.

The only "higher" Touring is the M5 version which does 10mpg and has a cr4p gearbox.

Look Matt you are gonna have to accept that every car related comment you do not agree with is NOT an attack at you.

Well sorry but writing what you just did may not be an "attack" but it's a pointless way of bleating "sir sir bails says his mate has a top flight car but everyone knows there are a few in the range that cost more than his."

If bails thinks it's top flight (and he knows his cars) then that's very kind of him. If you don't, then please show me your M3/M5/M6 or admit you're just being sad.

It's just pointless and reeks of some odd form of bitterness.

With all due respect, try and refrain from silly digs like that. You are generally funny and good to have "around" but seem to have a habit of making cretinous comments from time to time.

I made one comment about a 3 series not being a top level car as far as BMWs go which is a fair point considering there are the 5 and 7 series and you took personal offence. I have no problem with BMWs - my old man has a 320 - but you seem to think that anyone saying anything you disagree with is a personal attack on you and everything you stand for.

well of course it is obvious but considering what i would imagine to be your real life character from your online persona it suprises me that you would be so sucked in by bmw related comments.

it is a bit unnecessary i suppose but you give all the ammo.

as it happens, i love beemers and have owned a couple of 3's a 5 a 6 and a 7 all of which were old but gold.

There is also the six series. And the X5. And the X6. And the Z4. All have cars costing more than a 335d Touring - but only the M5 Touring and 535d Touring carry a dog without falling off corners. The 535d is slower and more "old man", the M5 is amazing but does under 200 miles on a tank and has a Nazi gearbox.

***So for the average incredibly successful young family man who is cooler than an Arctic cucumber, the 335d Touring is the way to go.

So Andy, please tell us which car you have seeing as you are so keen to comment on mine?

    ***the italics of irony

Sorry Matt, but you've just elevated yourself from forum know it all, to elitist a$$hole.

I didn't realise that for someone to make a valid comment on here they 1st had to willy-wave a higher spec/more expensive car than yours.

As you've self elected yourself "Automotive All Seeing Eye of BR" please be prepared to take the odd knock or 2, even if it is from us green-eyed peasants.....

I have a clio with a modified front end*

    * it may look like I crashed into the back of something but I wanted it to be a bit shorter to make it easier to park and the dents in the bonnets are actually craftily disguised air vents to help keep the massive 1.2 16v engine cool

Make sure you polish it up nicely. I want the sky reflected in it's bonnet and little sparkles coming from the alloys.

I refuse to wash it anymore. I'm slightly worried that if I take through a car wash or press too heavily with a sponge the front bumper will fall off. Alloys are chavtastic though!

There has been a fair few things happened on the seats of that poor little car. Lets just say there's easily room on the back seat for a redhead :D

My first car was a dreadful 1973 Marina 1.3 in beige. It was awful BUT had a massive sofa like back seat - it made the car almost worth having...:lol:
