Should have tried marginal gains instead, might have won the giro then.

You never claimed he was right, I never claimed he was wrong.
I simply said he 90% claim was much higher than other pessimists.
Something you now appear to be agreeing with.

I think the whole doping vs marginal gains discussion is interesting.

Would it be preferrable if I opened a new thread then?

Who is that, a moderator? Please let me know if I'm breaking any forum rules.

Having an opinion that is outside of the accepted groupthink should be within the rules I'd hope.

There was a thread on that very topic.

Di Luca is not trying to make excuses for his doping.

LeMond said in his book that when riders started doping he struggled to stay in the pack.

The worst was still to come. In the 11th stage of the Tour of Italy, during a climb called the Tre Cime di Laverado, LeMond finished 17 minutes behind the leaders. If it hadn't been for the Italian spectators urging him on, he figures he would have finished 25 to 30 minutes down. Riders he had once dominated were pedaling away from him with bewildering ease. How did they do it? he wondered. He was more impressed than angry, feeling for the first time in his career that he was out of his league.

    I'm the moderator.

Your original post is close to libel.

I can also warn you for miscellaneous behaviour that disrupts and or upsets the general vibe in the forum.

You can have your opinion and share it, but you should do it in a way that is constructive and conducive to an atmosphere which doesn't put others off.

On an unrelated note, a lot of people who are obsessed with doping are trolling under the guise of sharing an opinion. I am wise to those and will warn and ban as appropriate.

I don't care what your opinion is. I care about a good atmosphere and no libel.

Let me get this straight. Calling Talansky a hypocrite is close to libel?

What about all the personal attacks directed towards me, why is that acceptable then?

Is it time to have a separate forum for doping news/tests/innuendo/tittle-tattle/potential libel, so that if people want to dip their toes in the murky water they can do it separately to the Pro Race one?

There are so many threads that descend into this really tiresome to-and-froing. Can the mods have that forum for the permanently afflicted and move any threads like this into there, so the rest of us can enjoy some more grown-up discussions about the other more positive aspects of pro-cycling like?
It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.

They have other homes where some of them ply their trade and have done so for ages - Clinic and VR's The Dark Side.

Shows a sign of their obsession that they want to try to create a 3rd home - how very Tory Party! - over here

    press release (RT'd by Friebe)

    http://legaciclismo.wordpress.com/2014/ ... sua-gener/

And this from the Italian Cyclists Association

    http://www.accpi.it/laccpi-intenta-caus ... famazione/
  • More reactions from the peloton:
    http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/nibali- ... s-comments

Nibali: “For me, Danilo is at the end of his tether and he doesn’t know what to do anymore to earn a bit of loose change,“I’m sorry to say this because he was a great teammate, but now I can only think that he has become a bit brain-damaged.”

Damiano Caruso: “today 99% of the peloton is clean.” *Any evidence he's wrong?

Charly Wegelius:“I don’t think there’s much more to say beyond that I don’t agree at all that that’s accurate. (the 90% claim) It’s far from accurate I think.”

Joaquim Rodriguez: "Di Luca doesn’t deserve to be given the chance to make publicity for himself at our expense.”
    To which, from another article:-
Di Luca:"I didn’t get paid but I don’t want to talk for now, I've nothing more to say."
In an extract released by the producers of the television show, Le Iene, that will broadcast the interview on Wednesday evening, Di Luca was careful not to reveal specific information or name riders, doctors and team staff who may have helped him dope during his career.

*Unfortunately Mr C has his own black mark.

Yup. I know you didn't care for the article, but Sykes "addiction to doping" bit was apt.

Is that a reference to the tweets between lionel birnie and Scott O'raw last night? Incredibly irresponsible from both of them. O'raw shouldn't have started it and birnie shouldn't have perpetuated it. Such a conversation between them should have been off line from the beginning. Classic self-importance from both of them.
