Ahhh, the triple black drop that you went down Steve.....
Roo, as Steve said, we dropped into the area along the logs on the Red, the ride along the bottom of the Gully didn't look too bad but the rock drop into it on the WC course just looked mental. We followed the Red out the other side to the fire road and onwards up into the woods again.
Bloody good day, thoroughly enjoyed it and would have no hesitation in recommending Steve to anyone thinking of doing a skills course www.chasingtrails.co.uk. Very interested in his weekend breaks to the 7 Stanes but I think that's something to think about for next year when t'boy is a bit older and less of a handful for his Mum cos she'll be on her own with him while I'm away. Have also been looking at www.sierracycling.com with thoughts for getting away at some point in the future as they have their own Villas where the non-biking members of the family can relax and use the pool while I'd be off throwing myself down lovely dry singletrack1998 Marin Hawk Hill

JUNE SLOW RIDE
A well planned day involving 3 loops in the Long Mynd hills, centred on the town of Church Stretton in Shropshire for our June outing. This ride is to be led by our new friend Mr Mike Hickey (PuddleRider) who will be joining us for the first time in Cannock.
Sunday 27th June, meeting at 9.30am for a 10am start as usual. Meeting place is the Co-Op car park on the corner of Easthope Road and Lion Meadow. Car Park costs £4.00 for all day.1998 Marin Hawk Hill

Had my first experience of the new trail (red route) at Cannock Chase today. I'd been on the old trail a fair bit and always enjoyed it and didn't really know what to expect with the new one and to be honest it's brilliant. Have to say the lads/lasses that put all the time and effort in to building it all have done an amazing job (hats off to them) and the end product is superb. I had a slight fall, got a couple of minor cuts on my right knee (must invest in knee pads and you should definitely take them when you go if you have any) but other than that had a cracking few hours there. Going again on Monday !! You will have a blast on the 15th, i would like to be there but i'm on kiddie watch while the mrs is at work. Can't make the June ride either, going away on the 26th for a week but i'm determined to get to one of the rides and meet you all.0

Its 66 miles from my parents house in Birmingham. Unfortunately I will be coming from my barracks in Essex, which makes it 169 miles lol.
Never mind!0 -

Glad you had a good day Ches........no doubt you will be passing on your newfound skills to other less skilled riders in the group........''
Obviously you will benefit /enjoy the trails more with less hesitation and be able to tackle obstacles with more flow than before....good for you mate.
You will have to give us a more indepth detail of what you learnt from your day....it will be interesting to hear about it.
No doubt the 'weirwolf drop' at cannock won't even flutter yer feathers when you tackle it.
Wil have to look at dalby and the skills sessions for myself in the future with an overnight stop somewhere possibly........2001 Cove Stiffee FR

hi i'm just having a look at where ches went for his skill's course and they can do a group courses of between 3 and 8 people. So if there's a few of us who need to get some new skills then maybe we could make a weekend of it.0

steve just to let you know i've allready been to whinlatter but sadly only done the blue route and found the climbs tough so dont think the red is any easy0
-
Mick,
you could go and have a play at Lee Quarry, just stay and practise techy bits as much as you like there
Caz xx0 -
i have thought about lee quarry might have a look on the web for information on it0

just had a look at one vid
dont like the look of the drops at the side of the trail, dont fancy coming off and falling down the hillside0 -
Thats only a small part of it, if I can ride round Lee Quarry, anyone can, coz I am the biggest wimp on 2 wheels ...keep ya eyes on the trail infront of you, not to the side is my tip for there
Caz xx0 -
i might just have look to see what's in the peak district to do less traveling to do
i'll have a look around fairholmes at ladybower0 -
@ Cheshley: We stayed at Sierra cycling a few years back. They are in a good location about 10 mins walk from the beach, bars, cafe's and shops. Lots to keep a non-riding partner occupied. This was our first attempt at "real" mountain biking and we both had pretty bad offs on the 3rd day and couldn't ride for the rest of the week Tammy's brother lives in Fuengirola So we know that area quite well. Also consider http://www.joy-riders.com/ if you haven't done so already. We were thinking of giving them a try next year and by all reports they are pretty good too.

I'm already considering a bash at the intermediate course later in the Summer, August/Sept time. Now I need to get out and practice but there's feck all around here that isn't flat. I really fancy going back to Dalby and doing the full Red at my own pace, taking time to look at the sections before riding them so if anyone fancies that I'll start talking nicely to our lass and see if I can get my pass stamped for another day out1998 Marin Hawk Hill
